WOYWW 256 I'm baaaaack!

Hello there!

Shall I just throw my hat in and hope that Miss J doesn't holler at me?

I know I am a very BAD desk hopper but Wednesdays are always trickey as I play Teacher after I finish my 9-5 day so it ends up being Sunday before I get round to it all - almost time to start again.  Never mind ey?  As long as you know this, I guess it is ok.  I only have two weeks of playing teacher left anyhoo so what the heck ey!

I presume you know what WOYWW is.  No? Wherezyabin?  Click HERE for details.

Here is today's desk.......

Yep, it is the sewing desk and I am not doing any quilting.  You may notice that I have a Quilt Exhibition poster on my sidebar and I have been working hard on quiltey things recently but I deserve a break and really want to make this dress BEFORE the "Summer" finishes.  Unlike last year.

Here is the pattern and fabric....
I blame Julia for this pattern. I saw it on a WOYWW some two years ago.  Wanted it madly, ordered it and had it sent from the US at an extortionate cost.  I bought the Amy Butler fabric last May and as you may see, it hasn't been started.  I plan to sit and make it on Monday.  Hubster is working so I am having a day to myself - so there!!

I have already cut out and put together the bust part in calico for practice as I was worried about the curvey bits and fit, and it worked pretty well.  Fingers crossed that there won't be blue words spoken on Monday.

Right.  That is my desk now show me yours.  Click HERE to go back to the Host.  Be warned I may take a few days to visit but I WILL!

Hettie

Wow, Sam. Wish I could sew. Not just sew, but make straight lines, and cut rather than tear. I'm confident that now you've shown us the pattern and fabric, this dress will be finished in good speed.

Thanks for getting to me while I slept. Happy WOYWW from # 2.

I have this pattern, maybe you saw it on my desk? It definitely makes a cute summertime dress, I still like mine. The pattern fitting tips are quite helpful as well. :-)

Happy Woyww,

That is a lovely pattern, and fabric! I am glad you are working on it now. I can't sew at all not even a button, so when I get patterns I end up collaging with them on cards or the like. Hope to see the dress on here when you finish it! Enjoy the day! Winnie #60

I am in complete awe of the fact that you will be making your own dress, I wouldn't have any clue as to where to begin. The fabric looks to be a perfect match for the pattern.
You will share the finished dress with us?

Oh, I know all about blue words and sewing! I surprised myself and made a Chaise-lounge cover on Tuesday as I was on leave the the throw just worked its way onto the floor when the boys sit and use it for computers...that drove me mad, so I made a plan. It is not perfect, but it does the job and no dark blue words were spoken...!

Sorry I'm so late popping over this week.....yesterday was full to the brim with twinnie fun [blogging doesn't get a look in as you can imagine :-) ].
Love the 'amazing fit' dress [hope it does when it's finished ;-) ]. Do hope we get a show and tell too.
I chuckled at your comment about the dolls....you really are on our wave length :-) All I will add is 69 so there should be no extras in the bag when they arrive hehehehe
Hugs,

I've been a terrible WOYWW too, just don't seem to get the time at the minute....
I'm seriously impressed with your desk Sam. Dressmaking is a mysterious world to me and I really admire folk that can sew. That fabric is gorgeous. You'll be a real bobby dazzler in it!

Hi Hettie, I am always so pleased to see people are still sewing in any form. I taught it for 33 years and so many schools don't offer it any more.
Thanks for visiting me, happy crafting. Angela x

I have not done any dressmaking for years, but I might do some again soon, once I have found room to get out my new sewing machine. Beautiful fabric. At the moment I have had to empty the caravan again before it goes into the dealer to have a couple of faults put right, but I am taking the opportunity to sort some new storage for them. Thank you for your visit and I hope you have a good week. xx Maggie #61

I used to make all my own clothes but fabric is now so expensive and I live in pants in winter and shorts in the summer. That is a lovely pattern and the fabric will work up very well as all Amy Butler fabric is good to sew on.
