Mummy and Daddy's Diamond Anniversary

Hello my Lovelies!

My Wonderful parents celebrated their 60th Wedding Anniversary a couple of weeks ago and I had a little spark of an idea for the card I wanted to make.  When I saw my lovely Buddy's card for her friend's 25th I just knew it was the right idea.  So without further ado here is the card I made for my parents.....

This photo is one of my favourites of their wedding.  I scanned it from the little album that were given to their parents.  I have my Grandad's album...lucky me!!

A close up of the sparkly die cuts.  Can you tell I had great fun making this card?

Side view with another photo.  The box base I cut using my Silhouette so that I could have fancy edges.

And now one showing the happy Lovebirds cutting their cake.  I am telling you, I have never used so many blingies on one card!!

Top view.  I wanted to ensure that the bits looked as good from the front as the back so I adhered another shape to the back.
I used a few Snippets and had to raid the Christmas Snippets basket as I ran out of the silver.  Luckily I managed to find a few more bits.
Here is the card folded.

And now the other folded side.

This card took me several hours to make and all the time I was giggling as it was so much fun.  My parents loved it and my Dad, ever the engineer kept looking to see how I made it!!

I am going to sneak this into the Butterfly Challenge - K is for Knot...well the were tying the knot after all!!

I am also going to skip over to the Cuttlemania Challenge as there isn't a square in sight!!

Off to the Snippets Playground now to have a play and see if there is any choklit behind the bike shed!!  See you there!!

11 People On A Rope

Eleven people were hanging on a rope, under a helicopter in flight, 10 men and 1 woman.

The rope was not strong enough to carry them all, so they decided that one had to leave; Otherwise they were all going to fall.

They weren't able to choose that person, until the woman gave a very touching speech.

She said that she would voluntarily let go of the rope, because, as a woman, she was used to giving up everything for her husband and kids or for men in general, and was used to always making sacrifices with little in return.

As soon as she finished her speech, all the men started clapping . .. .... . . .

I am sharing this with Annie for her Friday Smiles!!

Man who leaps off cliff jumps to conclusion.
Man who runs in front of car gets tired, but man who runs behind car gets exhausted.

Baby's First Doctor Visit

This made me laugh out loud. I hope it will give you a smile!

A woman and a baby were in the doctor's examining room, waiting for the doctor to come in for the baby's first exam.

The doctor arrived, and examined the baby, checked his weight, and being a little concerned, asked if the baby was breast-fed or bottle-fed.

'Breast-fed, 'she replied.

'Well, strip down to your waist,' the doctor ordered.

She did.

He pinched her nipples, pressed, kneaded, and rubbed both breasts for a while in a very professional and detailed examination. Motioning to her to get dressed, the doctor said, 'No wonder this baby is underweight. You don't have any milk. '

‘I know,' she said, 'I'm his Grandma, but I'm glad I came.’

NBUS Birthday Card

Hello there

I know, I know, I have been a very bad blogger lately.  My blog has been badly neglected, save for my Friday Funny posts.  I have visited a few of you, but time has simply been running way ahead of me lately, but hopefully the lure of working outside will not be so strong now as the nights are drawing in and it is getting a little on the cool side now.

I wanted to share my Christening cards I made recently, but I appear to have lost the photos.  Shame as they were gorgeous.  For one of the cards I used the same stamps as this card (well it seemed a shame to put them out too soon!) so I guess I can stretch the NBUS rule as this was only the second time I used them.....

The Lilies are Sheena Douglass stamps that I bought AGES ago and not used them - shame on me.  This was also the first time I used my new Abandoned Coral DI which I LOVE!!!    I inked up the stamp with Versamark and WOW white embossing powder.  I then used Abandoned Coral  and inked the background.  Spritzed and flicked some water, trimmed and adhered to the front of the card.  I needed a little white so used a MB die cut that was in the Tin of Shame.  I used some Snippets to stamp the HB and inked up again, Can you see it is different card as it is darker?  I mounted this on to a slightly larger piece of white snippet having first tied a little ribbon around the card.

Some pearls spotted around and there you have my card.  I do love this colour and those stamps are not going to be back in their packet for long!!

Right then....off to join in on the following Challenges!

Thank you for calling by.  Please leave me a comment so I know you have been.

HE NEVER ENDING SOAP OPERA OF MARGARET & BERT . . . . ..

Bert always wanted a pair of authentic cowboy boots, so, seeing some on sale, he bought them and wore them home.

Walking proudly, he sauntered into the kitchen and said to his wife, "Notice anything different about me?"

Margaret looked him over. "Nope."

Frustrated, Bert stormed off into the bathroom, undressed and walked back into the kitchen completely naked except for the boots.

Again he asked Margaret, a little louder this time, "Notice anything different NOW?"

Margaret looked up and said in her best deadpan, "Bert, what's different? It's hanging down today, it was hanging down yesterday, it'll be hanging down again tomorrow."

Furious, Bert yelled, "AND DO YOU KNOW WHY IT'S HANGING DOWN, MARGARET?"

"Nope. Not a clue", she replied.

"IT'S HANGING DOWN, BECAUSE IT'S LOOKING AT MY NEW BOOTS!!!!"

Without missing a beat Margaret replied, "Shoulda bought a hat, Bert.
Shoulda bought a hat."

Friday Funny

The wife came home early and found her husband in their bedroom making love to a very attractive young woman. And was somewhat upset.
‘You are a disrespectful pig!’ she cried. ‘How dare you do this to me –faithful wife, the mother of your children! I’m leaving you. I want a divorce!’

And the husband replied ‘Hang on just a minute love, so at least I can tell you what happened.’

“Fine, go ahead,” she sobbed, “but they’ll be the last words you’ll say to me!”

And the husband began —

“Well, I was getting into the car to drive home and this young lady here asked me for a lift. She looked so down and out and defenceless that I took pity on her and let her into the car. I noticed that she was very thin, not well dressed and very dirty. She told me that she hadn’t eaten for three days! So, in my compassion, I brought her home and warmed up the enchiladas I made for you last night, the ones you wouldn’t eat because you’re afraid you’ll put on weight. The poor thing devoured them in moments.

Since she needed a good clean up I suggested a shower, and while she was doing that I noticed her clothes were dirty and full of holes so I threw them away. Then, as she needed clothes, I gave her the designer jeans that you have had for a few years, but don’t use because you say they are too tight.

I also gave her the underwear that was your anniversary present, which you don’t use because I don’t have good taste.

I found the sexy blouse my sister gave you for Christmas that you don’t use just to annoy her, and I also donated those boots you bought at the expensive boutique and don’t use because someone at work has a pair the same.”

The husband took a quick breath and continued –

“She was so grateful for my understanding and help and as I walked her to the door she turned to me with tears in her eyes and said,

‘Please … do you have anything else that your wife doesn’t use?’

Tee hee!!  A bit naughty but I couldn't resist sharing with you!!  Linking with my good buddie Annie for Friday Smiles!!

Sympathy Card for a Friend

Hello

I had occasion to send a sympathy card to a friend who lost her brother recently.  I have a lot of envelopes which were given to me that takes cards 4.25" x 8.5" so I needed to make my own cards.

I used my NBUS Spellbinders die that my Special Friend picked up for me at a Stamp Show in US.  Isn't it just gorgeous.  The die cut at the bottom comes out of the centre.  There are two other cuts too, and I will no doubt share those with you another time.

The sentiment is a stamp I picked up quite by chance on a stall in our local market, it was second hand, but just what I needed.  I used DI to stamp it.  I just love the punched details on this die set.

Here is a close up of the die cut with all the detail.  The flower and butterfly die cuts were made with my Memory Box dies, the flower was from another Special Friend who gave it to me when we met up earlier this year.  You know I love it Kath!!  Again, coloured with DIs.

Right then, off to play in the Playground as there were lots of white snippets used on this card.  I am grateful to Miss of the Playground, who advised use of wax paper for fiddly die cuts, and boy is this a fiddly die cut!  Worth the trouble though I think!  I am also entering this into the Cuttlebug Challenge which this week is "Anything Goes".

Thanks for visiting.  See you on the swings!!
