Scrapbooking Tuesday - T on Tuesday

Hello There

I am unusually late today with my Scrapbooking Tuesday and T for Tuesday post.  But it is still Tuesday so here I am.

Today's T is for Two Boys - the subject matter for today's layout......

I try to be good and drink lots of water every day and here you see me being a good girl!  My glass is not special.  Just a run of the mill glass from Ikea.  And here you can see my layout of My Two Boys.  Mr Hettie and Dobby acting like a baby!

Do you see what I see?  Sunshine!  Normally I would try to avoid sunshine across my photographs but as we haven't seen much of it around I thought I would share some. I cut around the bottom of the flourish with birdie on the top left corner and tucked a piece of dark brown bazzill and the top of one photo so as not to cut the birdie off.
The main paper is MME with Bazzill for the plain papers, some of which are Snippets. The Buddies piece is Cosmo Cricket cut from the same piece as the layout I shared last week.  Some Maya twine tied with a MME button (NBUS that I paid a lot for and just hoarded until now!), and a tag cut from TH die and the strip from the edge of the paper aka a Snippet.
The text was cut from TH die and then I went over them with TH Distress Stickles in Antique Linen.
I punched some bunting with my SU punch in tan and dark brown Bazzilll and also added some paper ribbon cut using TH die.  I also did some stamping on the background colour with my TH flourish stamp and Gathered Twigs DI.
Another little strip of the edge strip with a row of hearts cut using an EK Success punch topped with a Love ticket from TH.  I thought I would share my coaster with you.  This is one of the first Honiton lace pieces I made some 18 years or so ago.  The coaster itself now pretty scratched and marked from constant use but Teddy still looks good inside.
Right, that is me done for today.  Thanks for popping by.  Don't forget to take your drink over to Elizabeth.  As I have used Snippets I shall take this over to the Snippets Playground, but as it is so late I had better be quiet so as not to wake anyone!

Snippets Abound!

Hello There

Before you read on, I feel I must issue you with a warning.  You may want to put your sunglasses on or turn the colour contrast down on your screens.

I needed to make two birthday cards for two dear friends.  The day I went to do them it was a particularly grey and driecht kinda day and so my hand kinda veered towards the brighter colours in my ink tin.  I also got carried away with how many Snippets of white card that I got out of the box too as I was trying to gather smaller sized pieces rather than chop into a larger one.

Here is Sian's card........

And here is Aunty Val's card........(she isn't really my Aunty but I called her that when I first started working here and it kinda stuck!)  The white you can see around the card is the envelopes.  Darn it!  I should have moved them out of the way!

And then as I made too many panels I made some individual ones for Ron......later Ron!

The stamp is Hero Arts which I embossed with Versamark and clear embossing powder.  I inked the panels with Picked Raspberry, Mowed Lawn (bought as a result of trying to prove to Hubby that my paypal account from ebay does not work on my Blackberry phone! As you can see I was right! Thank goodness I chose a colour I didn't already have!) and Peacock Feathers Distress Inks.  Some Bakers twine from Papermania and ......Yep my Stampin Up (green) which I am very possessive over, and some sticky sparklies.  Out came the corner chomperer to alter ther corners too.  The two smaller cards are cut to go into envelopes out of my box and are tent style.  Liking this style a lot!
As all the inkied panels are from the Snippets box I shall take this over to the Snippets Playground.  Better put the sou'wester on as it is pouring it down here right now, having had blue sky this morning!  I am also joining this up with Addicted to Stamps as they are looking for CAS this week.  For me this is VERY CAS!!  EDIT:  I have also been pointed to Stamplorations Challenge so I am joining in there too!  This is a new challenge for me and having had a peek, they have some great challenges.  I have popped it on my sidebar if you wish to pop over.

Keep warm everybody and thank for calling by.

January Rudolph Day

Hello there

Gosh, is it really 25th January 2014 already?  Our first Rudolph Day of 2014?  How did we get here so quick?

Those of you who have been on my blog around this time of the month will know that I usually join in with my friend Sandra's Rudolph Day Challenge.  Why not join in?  It is a great way of building up the Christmas card stash without the mad panic at the end of the year, especially as Sandra now wants us to make two cards each month.

So without further ado here are mine......

And here they are individually.....

Isn't this die adorable?  It is a Memory Box die that I bought after Christmas with some Christmas money.  I cut it from a Snippet of MME paper that happened to be near the front of the basket.  The background I had embossed before Christmas and I just cut it down using a Spellbinders die.  A little bit of sparkly twine, some Stickles, doodling and a TH Chit Chat sticker and a card was born.

Same idea but on a patterned background and a plain cream wreath, all cut from Snippets.  This is actually Mr Hettie's favourite of today's batch.

I fell in love with this Memory Box holly die when I was at my friend's house in November and took the opportunity to cut myself a couple (I always carry a little plain card just in case).  I didn't use them because I forgot where I had put them safe.  (I had put them in the SU box that held these stamps!)  The ribbon was left on my desk from another project that I was experimenting with the other day, which was too wide for that but perfect for this one.  The cream labels were punched from scraps and stamped with Aged Mahogany DI and embossed, as were the Hero Arts greetings.  You can see that I used two different creams here.  The top card has an extra piece of more of the Basic Grey paper.  The bottom panels are from the DCWV pad.  And I added some Stickles to them both too.  Santa must have heard that I really liked this die as he arranged for me to have one too, so expect to see it feature a fair bit this year.

All four cards were corndered with a We R Memory Keepers Chomper.

Thats all from me today folks.  I have my quilting group now and then Robbie Burns Dinner tonight where I will be dancing the Flora MacDonald's Fancy as a solo!  Hope I don't cock mess it up!  Happy Burns Day to all my Scottish friends.

I am also linking this up with the Snippets Playground and CHCC. Don't forget you have until Friday to make some cards and join in with Rudolph Day!

Friday Funny

One day God was looking down at
earth and saw all of the rascally behaviour
that was going on...

So He called His angels and sent
one to earth for a time.

When the angel returned,
he told God,'Yes, it is bad on earth;
95% are misbehaving and only
5% are not.

God thought for a moment and said,
'Maybe I had better send down a second
angel to get another opinion.'

So God called another angel and sent
her to earth for a time.

When the angel returned she went to
God and said, 'Yes, it's true. The earth
is in decline; 95% are misbehaving,
but 5% are being good...'

God was not pleased.

So He decided to e-mail the 5%
who were good, because he wanted to
encourage them, and give them a little
something to help them keep going.

Do you know what the e-mail said?

Okay, I was just wondering,
because I didn't get one either.

Baby Boy Cards

Hello There!

It is Thursday and tomorrow will be my favourite day - Friday.  So I kinda like Thursdays too!  I had a bit of a manic day yesterday.  I had to go like the clappers in work in the morning as I was going to the hospital to see the Chest Lady.  I tell you I have not been in, tested, seen and out of the hospital so quick as I did yesterday and the bonus was.......I had a smile on my face :-)  It was all good news! I very nearly skipped out of the hospital rather than walk!

I then had dancing in the evening with a little tribute to Robbie Burns so some nibbles and dancing was had.  Then I had just settled at home with laptop at the ready and the phone went, one of the ladies thought she had left the oven on at the hall so being a responsible key holder I had to go down and check!  The oven was switched off but the wall switch wasn't.  Better safe than sorry.  By the time I got home it was time to head to bed.  I will try and play catch up later.

For now I would like to share some Baby cards with you.  There seems to have been a lot of dark nights in around March last year as there have been a flurry of babies being born including my first Great Nephew.  I needed two cards so made three, as there is bound to be another very soon....

I don't have a large selection of baby type stamps so out came my Lavinia stamps to make a scene.  I used DIs in Broken China, Tumbled Glass and Peacock Feathers.  Colouring the background and using a water brush to get some streaks across the moon and also to ground the washing line.

For the images I used Memento and Archival inks.  I also unwrapped my shiny new NBUS Versamark to "ink" up the stars stamp and I added VOS Cosmic Shimmer pearly powder in blue pearl.
I hope you can see the subtle shimmeriness here.  On the TH tags I inked Hello and Baby from my SU set, which I tied on with Papermania Bakers Twine.  I actually ran out of the twine after the first two so I had to rummage for something else to use and found some blue fluff I got out of Linda's tin when I was last in Cornwall.
Inside the card I stamped Congratulations and die cut the VOS Sizzix sentiment, which was the die that came with my B/S all those years ago.
Here are the three together.  Similar but with subtle changes.
And here is the envelope which I also stamped.

Off to see my Buddies at the Snippets Playground as these included Snippets on the tabs and the sentiments.  I also "shopped my stash" by using 6x6 papers for the backgrounds as well as the tags which were in the Tin of Shame and this week's theme is Blue.

Thanks for calling by.  I hope you are having a very good Thursday.

Scrapbook Tuesday - T stands for Toys!

Hello There

Third Tuesday of 2014 and so far so good.  I have joined in with Tea on Tuesdays and "met" lots of lovely peeps and shared some of my special cups too.  This week is no exception.  So without further ado......

Another layout of my Hubby some 20 years ago when I bought him a Scalextric set from a chappie in work who was selling his and his son's sets.  I was looking at buying a set for Hubby anyway and got a great bargain.  The long shot you can see is the hallway after it had already gone round the lounge.  We had it in the dining room too but  we couldn't run up the hallway quick enough so we had to shorten it.  We we also able to turn the lights out as the cars and track lit up.  The funniest thing was to put a tennis ball on a car and watch our first dog Sputnik chase after the car!!  So funny.

And my cup?  It contains Devon tea, or should I say it did!  Hubby's Jelly Belly mug.  He is a bit of a Jelly Belly fan!  Can you spot that we actually had some sunshine on Sunday morning I took these photos?

The paper is MME and doesn't it match the wallpaper well?  The black cardstock is Bazzill.  The "Happiness is" is from Cosmo Cricket cards.  Elf and Safety and stars are Papermania.

The title was cut from TH die and then glossy accents over the top.

This little Love embellishment is East of India which I bought a while ago waiting for the right layout to pop it on to.  And a NBIS "Just for You"  stamp from Theresa Collins set.

Off to see what adventures Elizabeth and Bleubeard have had this Tuesday over a cup of tea and as some of the black cardstock is from my Snippets box I am off to see the peeps at the Snippets Playground.  As the sun has been out today I am hoping the playground has dried up a little.

Thanks for calling by.

65th Birthday Cards - Snippets

Hello There

Here we are on Sunday evening wondering where the weekend went.  It all passed in a whooosh!  I hope yours was a good one.

I thought tonight I would share a couple of cards which I made for one of my Work Buddies, who asked me to make a card for her male friend who was celebrating his 65th birthday just after Christmas.  Ann specifically wanted 65 on there and told me that he was a farmer who loved animals and the countryside.

Always loving a challenge I set about making two, leaving the 65 easy to add on whichever card Ann chose, by putting some foam pads on but not affixing them.  Here is card one.......

The leaf with 65 on was left off until Ann decided whether she liked this one.
I used my favourite stamp company Artistic Outpost set Grist Mill with lots of layers, Tonic and Sizzix die cuts, TH wax paper, ribbon, feathers, button and string.  The 65s were cut using Quickutz dies.  As soon as Ann saw this she said she wanted it.

Then she saw this one....

A Penny Black stamp, coloured with Copics, Snippets of paper layered, ribbon and a glittered 65.  Then she was stuck as she wanted both.  So she took both hoping a friend of hers would like it.  Apparently the Birthday Boy loved them both!!

I am entering the first card in the Artistic Outpost Challenge for January as all the images are from their stamps.  I am also entering both cards in the Snippets Playground as they both include Snippets.

Have a good week everyone.  Keep warm and safe.

Friday Funny Bonus! Yes I know it is Saturday!

Hearing that there are issues with blogger and technology in general, I was sent this earlier today so I thought I would share this with you ....

Wife texts husband on a cold winter morning:

Windows frozen, won’t open....

Husband texts back: Gently pour some lukewarm water over it.

Wife texts back 5 minutes later:
Computer really screwed up now.

Friday Funny

A woman from New York was driving through a remote part of Arizona when her car broke down.

An American Indian on horseback came along and offered her a ride to a nearby town. She climbed up behind him on the horse and they rode off. The ride was uneventful, except that every few minutes the Indian would let out a Ye-e-e-e-h-a-a-a-a' so loud that it echoed from the surrounding hills and canyon walls.

When they arrived in town, he let her off at the local service station, yelled one final 'Ye-e-e-e-h-a-a-a-a!' and rode off.

"What did you do to get that Indian so excited?" asked the service-station attendant.

"Nothing," the woman answered. "I merely sat behind him on the horse, put my arms around his waist, and held onto the saddle horn so I wouldn't fall off."

"Lady," the attendant said, "Indians don't use saddles."

Rudolph Beer Anyone?

Hello There

Just when you thought that Christmas was long behind us or in front of us in the dim and distant future, I pop up with a Christmas craft make which I forgot to share with you before....

Yep!  Rudolph Beer!  We (as in the "Royal We" which means I) bought various male members of the family beer for Christmas, easy pleaser, and I was left with the task of wrapping said pressies (as usual) and came across some sparkly pipe cleaners in the wrapping bag (Lord knows how long or why they have been there so VVOS).  Well a little bit of routing round my Pinterest Christmas board where I had seen something similar, a glass of Baileys and I set to making my own.  No red noses as no-one had 9 bottles! (besides the fact that I did not have any red noses to hand at stupid-o'clock-in-the-morning whilst I was wrapping pressies!)

My Dad laughed when he saw them and then told me  on the phone later that they got "wonked" in the fridge!!  Too funny!

Well, that was what it is all about this crafting malarky innit?  Having fun!

Thanks for calling by.

Scrapbook Tuesday - T is for Tantrum!

Hello There

Tantrum I hear you ask?  Yes this morning when our stupid internet would not load photos on to Blogger for me!  I left my puter lined up to upload a few photos for today's post and when I had my shower I popped in my room to find it was still digesting them.  I had my breakfast and only one was uploaded.  I got dressed and was near enough needing to go to work and I only had two photos uploaded.  So if you would like to see some close ups I have to ask you to F11 or whatever you do to make the photos larger!

So today is Tuesday and as is my custom I am sharing a scrapbook layout with you as well as joining in with my friend Elizabeth over at T for Tuesday.

So I started with a sheet of white cardstock and left it clean and took a piece of graduating blue paper with snowflakes on there and punched it all the way round with MS PATP.  I took my new XCut dies which Santa supplied pennies for me to buy and cut a mat in the blue plain cardstock and I corner chomped the photo.  Before I adhered this with foam pads, I layered a beautiful MB cut which my lovely friend sent me having embossed it with WOW embossing powder.  This is my new found favourite embossing powder of choice btw!

I took some Snippets of papers and ribbons and layered the layout with these and VOS ribbons as well as stamping the Theresa Collins calender onto Snippets of white cardstock and AO sentiment.  I used some Snowflakes from my Tin of Shame as well as made some more and layered these up with some TH sprigs too.  Under the snowflakes middle right, there are some stick pins too, which I cannot now show you a close up of.  The skates are from TH die which another friend of mine sent to me.  I embossed them with WOW white and some silver and laced them with quilting cotton before attaching the snowflake and bell with some sparkly twine in black.  Some gems and hey presto my layout was complete.
And my cup of tea?  We have camomile and honey today in my very special Winnie the Pooh bone china mug. Always prefer tea in bone china.

That's all folks thanks to t'internet!  I am hoping that does not mean we are without again for a while now!  I cannot even blame it on the wind as often happens!

Rightio, off to the Snippets Playground to see what mischief has occurred there today and also to Elizabeth's to see what is happening at the tea table.

Thanks for calling by.

Snippets cards

Hello There

Oops!  Sorry I have been away from the Blogging World this weekend, but I have been a bit of a busy bee in my absence!  I went to my Buddy's on Saturday for a scrapbooking session and then yesterday I had a bit of a clearing spree.  I wanted to get two very large cupboards thinned out enough so that I only had one cupboard and the empty one can be converted into a wardrobe in the guest room.  Once that task was achieved I then moved into my Craft Room and cleared some crap stuff so I can get things off the floor and generally make life a little easier for me.  Hubby better watch out or I shall move onto his sheds next!

So here I am again all geared up to start the week off with some Snippets cards to share with you.....

I want to restart my card shop in work again as a few people have asked me for cards and I don't have any here in my tin so my plan is when I need a card I will make one for the recipient, one for my box and one for my work tin.  Only here I made four as I have two birthdays in quick succession.

I used some very old stamps which I inked with DI and then stickled over the top of before mounting on some Snippets of silver card, chomping all corners with my Memory Keepers chomper.  I also used a variety of embossing folders and some VOS velum which I have run through the folders after cutting with a X Cut die.  Some snippets of ribbon which came out of the Snippets basket and some mesh which a kind hearted friend gave to me.
I cut some tags and stamped with Hero Arts stamp.

There you have it, four cards for me to take to the Snippets Playground.

Thanks for popping over.  I shall be calling by very soon so make sure your rooms are tidy!

Friday Funny

Lone Ranger and Tonto walked into a saloon and sat down to drink a Beer. After a few minutes, a big tall cowboy walked in and said "Who Owns the big white horse outside?"

The Lone Ranger stood up, hitched his gun belt, and said, "I do....Why?"

The cowboy looked at the Lone Ranger and said, "I just thought you'd like to know that your horse is about dead outside!"

The Lone Ranger and Tonto rushed outside and sure enough Silver was ready to die from heat exhaustion. The Lone Ranger got the horse water and soon Silver was starting to feel a little better.

The Lone Ranger turned to Tonto and said, "Tonto, I want you to run around Silver and see if you can create enough of a breeze to make him start to feel better." Tonto said, "Sure, Kemosabe" and took off running circles around Silver. Not able to do anything else but wait, the Lone Ranger returned to the saloon to finish his drink. A few minutes later, another cowboy struts into the bar and asks, "Who owns that big white horse outside?"

The Lone Ranger stands again, and claims, "I do, what's wrong with him this time?"

The cowboy looks him in the eye and says,

"you left your injun runnin".

I know, I know, I'm really sorry ................
