Creative Chemistry 101 - Day 5

Hello Peeps

I hope you are having a great weekend.  I don't know what has happened to the weather but it has been a kinda grey dull day today so I have been playing in my craft room today playing catchup with the Creative Chemistry 101 course.  I love the fact that you can go at your own pace with this course and that the videos and instructions will be on there for life!  So for example, the first technique on Day 5 I cannot do as I don't have any Kraft Resist paper so I can go back to this workshop when I do have some.

Anyway on to today's lesson which was all about Distress Stains.  I do not have much of a palette of these stains yet, but even with a limited palette I have really enjoyed today's lesson.  As I said I do not have the Kraft Resist so instead of just having two tags to show you, Tim mentions in the video that you can do Distress Watercolour with stains so I just had to give it a go.  I love it and can see me do more of that in the near future.  So here is today's tags....

Hope you like. It is not too late to join in if you fancy trying it! Click HERE to join in.

Friday Snippets

Hello Peeps

It is Friday so that means it is Playtime over at the Snippets Playground with the lovely Di!  No cards this week but some bookmarks I made for the Craft Sale last week.  A few sold, most noteably the Chicken ones!!

I have now put them in the tin at work where I put the cards for the girls at work to buy, and if they don't sell in a few weeks I will turn them into cards.

Now don't forget to pop over for a play at the Playground and show us what you have done with your Snippets.  I will meet you on the swings!!  Now where is the ice cream man?  I could just eat a strawberry mivvi now!!

Creative Chemistry 101 - Day 8

Hello Peeps

I am still trying to play catch up with this course and still LOVING it!!  I actually started these last night in between coming from home and going out to Dancing!!

So Day 8 is all about Resist - No! Not resisting chocolate but paint resist.   Hope you like what I have done.....

I have to say that I love how these have turned out and the fact that the one on the left is a lickle curly is perfectly natural as Tim Holtz has told us - phew!!  The one on the right is a little larger than usual as it was supposed to be done with sticky back canvas.  I don't have any and cannot find my role of canvas so I used a canvas board and a larger stamp 'cos I could.  I think I will be fiddling with that later.  The third technique are some die cut flutterbies using chipboard and then turned into glazed flutterbies by magic!!

Off to see what today's Chemistry lesson involves now.

Scrappy Tuesday - On a Wednesday - Just Me

Hello Peeps

Yes I know it is Wednesday and I am supposed to be doing Scrapbooking layouts on a Tuesday but I was soo intent on getting as many lessons of the Creative Chemistry 101 completed last night I did not have chance to put my posting on. (See previous two postings if you want to see what I have been up to!)   Not only that, I had already put two postings on yesterday so thought it may be a bit much to put a third one on.

So apologies for the wait and here is this week’s Scrappy Tuesday……
Can you believe this is me?

What do you think?  I love all those flowers and doodling we did!

I have still not thought of a suitable title for this layout either – maybe “Just Me!”.  If you can think of a better one, please let me know.

Thanks for looking and please leave me a comment so that I know you have been!

I also want to say "Hi" to my latest follower Borqna!  Thanks for following me and I hope you like what I do.

I completed this layout quite recently at the Retreat I went on with the lovely ladies of Pennally, which took place near Tenby.  This photograph was not the intended photograph for this layout (it should have been a landscape photograph for a start) but when I saw the papers I thought this photograph was a perfect choice.

Creative Chemistry 101 - Day 7

Hello Again Peeps!

I know - TWO posts in one day!  And I haven't done my Scrappy Tuesday posting yet and hopefully I will before I head off to the Land of Nod!

I know I am behind but I have jumped right up to today's lesson so that I don't have soo much catching up to do.  Today is all about embossing powders.  Do join in with the classes over at OnlineCardClasses.  They are full of useful tips and ideas that you cannot always pick up from books!  Here are today's projects....

I must admit that the first tag has to me my favouritist technique and I use it loads and loads.  The middle tag technique I have never been able to get a good result until today!  And the last tag I was a little limited as I only have two colours of Distress Powder because I have not really thought of many situations where I would use it.  Until now!  I want some lighter colours now

Hope you like. It is not too late to join in if you fancy trying it! Click HERE to join in.

Happy Rudolph Day Everyone

Yep!  You saw the title correctly - Happy Rudolph Day to you all.

Those of you who find themselves occasionally on my blog will know that every 25th of the month throughout the year is known as Rudolph Day.  On this day myself and some other crafters (nutters) make a Christmas card (or two) and we link them up with my friend Sandra of Stamping for Pleasure, just for the fun of it!

So here is mine....

And in keeping with most of my cards, it is a Snippets card, which we link up with the keeper of the Playground keys, Di.  I know I usually try to keep my Snippets features for Friday, it is an awfully long time to Friday this week.

The card has used papers from the DCWV papers which I bought absolutely ages ago.  Tag was cut using the Tim Holtz die.  Gold vellum and some Ikea packaging for the corrugated card.  Twine tied around and finished off with a button from the bucket.  Various fluff tied at the top and mounted on to a card which has another piece of DCWV paper and stamping with Red Barn DI and Perfect Pearls.  Add the stamped image which is a freebie stamp from Craft Stamper, four pearls and hey presto card done.  Hope you like it and feel free to join us with Rudoph Day and make some cards nice and early (don't worry about the fact that it is soooo sunny outside and totally not like Christmas is around the corner!) - you still have a few days left.

Paper Roses - Purple Box

Hello There Peeps

What a glorious sunny March day we have here in South Wales today.  I really hope your day is as beautiful and shiny as it is here.

Over at Hels Sheridan's blog her Sunday Stampers Challenge is Paper Roses.  So I was making this box up and suddenly remembered that fact.  So I am entering it in for the first time in absolutely ages and ages and ages (you get the gist)!

Hope you like...

The box started out as pine box which I stained using Distress Stains (Dusty Concord and Picket Fence).

The sentiment is one of Tim Holtz's of course stamped onto card with DI Dusty Concord and embossed.  Card then inked up with DIs and cornered, then mounted onto box.  The flowers were cut using the TH Pine Cone die and two leaves which green cardstock was first mounted onto chipboard to give a bit of body.  Paper is College Press - Double Take.  Edges inked with DI Dusty Concord and then ribbon looped on to back of flower before adhereing leaves and flowers with glue gun (owch!).

A little lace cut from TH die and a little bit of TH  flower hardware on the opposite side and a liberal spraying of TH Perfect Pearls Mist and hey presto one box finished.

Oops! Since I took the above photo I felt it needed something more so it has been added to......

Must fly... Cinderella has some work (chores - including mucking the chooks out)  to do before she can get to the Ball tonight!!!

It is Friday - so it is Snippets Night

Hello Crafters

Yeay! It is Friday so officially in the Hettie Household it is the weekend.  I wish you all a very good weekend in whatever it is you are doing!  I have a lovely RSCDS Ball in Cardiff tomorrow evening and I am very much looking forward to it.  I have managed to slim down enough to wear my lovely posh ballgown so I have dusted it down, had my hair cut so off to the Ball I shall go!!    This is the dress...(though unfortunately my Beau will not be coming due to being in work!)

Rightio.  Down to business ey!

If you read my posting the other day you will know that I have decided to devote Tuesdays to Scrapbooking projects - dubbed Scrappie Tuesday by my Hubby and Fridays I am devoting to Snippets - dubbed Friday Snippets (how original but this is the best my brain cell could think of!).  This is so I only do one posting (except last Sunday's but that was Mothering Sunday) and poor Di doesn't have to route around my blog looking for all the posts.   And NO Di - you are not having my PINK chair!!

So here are the cards I have made this week which are all Snippets....

Right then.  Gotta get on as I am still in need of more stuff for my stall.  I only found out about it while I was in Prague, then I have been poorly and working full time has all stacked against me but the proceeds are for our local Community Hall so I don't mind at all.  I was going to show you some bookmarks I have made but Blogger/internet is so slow it has taken over an hour to upload these pictures!  Grrr!

Why don't you use up some of your Snippets and make something, show it on your blog and link up with the Lovely Di and join us in the Playground.  We might even let you play in the duck pond!!  Though I have been playing with my kite alot this last week in my new wellies!!

Whatever you do, enjoy it!

WOYWW 146 - New PINK Chair!

Hello Crafting Peeps

Happy Wednesday to you all.
A Happy WOYWW Day to you all
Happy Hump Day to you all too.

It is Wednesday so that means it is the day of the biggest Blog Hop in the world, probably!  Click HERE to be transported over to the desk of the Lovely Hostess with the Mostest ….Julia Dunnitt.

I am not showing my desk today, but I am showing you my latest acquisition .........

Yes!!  It is my lovely new PINK chair being modelled by my lovely Fergus!!  It was just sat in a shop begging me, I tell you, to buy it and take it home.  As it happens I was going to buy a new chair for the other desk in my room so now I have a pink one!!  It is pretty comfy too - I had to test drive it last night didn't I!

Here is also the book that I completed last night.  Some of you may recall it was on my desk last week.  You cannot see it very well, but it is all glimmery and I think seeing the photo that I should put some enamel in the centre of the clock hands!

Soo, please don’t forget to leave me a comment so that I know you have been here and I will pop along to see you later today! Don't forget to call by Julia's blog HERE to see more desks!

We Wanna Be Together - Scrapbook Layout - Layout Tuesday

Hello Lovely Crafters

I was having a think the other day - yes, it did hurt.  And I thought of putting regular "feature" spots on my blog.  A lot of people I know have them so it was high time I had them too and it would help me remember what I am up to on my blog!!  So my plan is Tuesday Layout, WOYWW on Wednesday of course, and Snippets on Fridays.  Hope you are with me and I hope you approve of my lickle plan.

So.  Can anyone remember the advert?  "I wanna be a tree". "We wanna be together".  Those were two of the lines and I think it may have been insurance.  Now that is going to bug me!!

So on to the layout........

I completed this layout last month at the Pennally Scrapbooking class.

The subject as you regulars to my blog will know is my dear Hubby and our lickle dog Dobby.
When I was going to the class I took several photographs which I thought would be suitable only to find that this one was the best suited for colours and title.
Simon was poorly one night, which is very unusual for him, and so he crept downstairs to sleep in the spare room so as not to keep me awake nor infect me.  Nurse Dobby went with him.  I crept down in the morning and could not resist taking a photograph of the two of them in bed Together!

Unfortunately I do not know what papers they were, only the punch is a Martha Stewart punch all over the page and we used several punches for the flowers, a great favourite of Penny's!!  I still have the second layout of the day to complete (I had to skip home on account of going on holiday the next day, and I hadn't packed!).  The strips may be in the bag so if they are I will add them to this posting!

TTFN - off to take some piccies of my desk ready for tomorrow's Blog Hop!

Grungy Monday 39 - Tartan Tags

Hello Peeps

Over at Studio L3 the lovely Linda took us right back to 2009 and Day 3 of the 12 Tags of Christmas.  The technique was to make Tartan paper using Alcohol Inks.  Despite my love of Alcohol Inks and all things Scottish it has taken me until now to actually try this technique.  So here it is....

Wow.  Look at that sunlight comng through the window onto the tag!  I thought about moving the tag, but love the sunlight!

Here is a better shot with no shading from the sun.  You can now see the embellishments of a Dragonfly and two very small jingly bells.  The ribbon is silk which I have coloured using Distress Stains.  Gotta love the Distress Stains for this.

I mounted the coloured paper onto a tag after first stamping with some lovely Tim Holtz stamps, the sentiment is one of my favourites.  I have a scrapbook layout in mind to use this tag as an embellishment on.  It is of my friend and I with our Flora McDonald costumes on at the Burn's Night Dinner last year so maybe you will see the tag make an appearance soon.

I understand that Linda will be stopping the Grungy Monday Challenges now to make way for the Compendium Challenges II.  Looking forward to those especially as I already have my book!  Why not join us.

Happy Mother's Day

Good Morning Peeps

Yes!  I am burning a little of the midnight oil tonight as Hubby is working and he will not know what time I get into bed.  You guys won't tell on me.  Will you.  Will you?

I wanted to firstly say "Happy Mothering Sunday" to both my Mum, Mum in Law and anyone who is a Mother, whether it be to a small pink "mini you" or of the animal variety.  As you know I am Mother to one mad dog, six lovely (mad) hens and one Cockeral.

So I thought I would show you the Mother's Day card I have just made for my Mother in Law. The one I made for my Mum is on yesterday's post.

Now I am in no way being "tight" but I have made this card from Snippets but this was purely because I started wading through some papers and what I thought went well I knew were in my Snippets box (and floor) so why cut into a fresh sheet when you know you have it already cut?

As you can see I also stamped the inside as well as the envelope.  I hope she likes it!  It was Hubby's idea that I make her a chicken card and just for a laugh I will take it over wearing my chicken wellies (see yesterday's post to see them for yourself!).  I will leave the pinnieon behind.  We are taking her for a bacon buttie at a local Garden Centre so wellies will not look out of place!!

(Sorry about the quality of the photos peeps but the sun is in bed at the moment so no natural light at 1.30am!)

Right, off to make a nice Ovaltine and then I have an appointment with the Scrap 365 magazine which I bought yesterday for the first time.  The only reason it is the first copy I have bought is that the local W H Smiths only ever has 3 copies delivered so it is never in stock!!  When I have had a good rummage through this magazine I will decide whether or not to subscribe.  I already subscribe to Craft Stamper so will have to decide which I like more.

Good night/Morning guys.  Have a good Sunday whatever you are doing.  Weather report is that it is going to be wet here so crafting might be the order of the day as well as cooking a nice piece of baa lamb!!

Let's go and rattle the Playground gate one more time!! Why not join us at the Playground.  There are lots of swings, pogo sticks, roundabouts, a pond.  Go on. Get some Snippets, make a card or something and link up with the lovely Di - she with a flower in her hair.  You know you want to!!  Tag - you are it!

Nos da!

Ah... Made It....Sorry Miss....I was flying my kite!

Yeay!  Made it!  I have been soo busy flying my kite this week I nearly forgot to post my Snippets cards this week.  I made them quite early on in the week but was having so much fun I forgot to post them for you to see!  So without further ado here they are......

I actually sent this one to my lovely friend!  My fellow Trouble Maker in the Playground!!

This one I made for my Mummy for tomorrow.
This is a birthday card for my friend and here is the inside.  The others were similar but without the Happy Birthday of course.
I thought I would share with you a photo I took of my new wellies.  You see, I was walking my lovely Dobby over the field early one morning (6.40am in fact) and I had this horrible cold wet sensation in my right wellie.  Yep!  There was a hole in my wellie dear Liza dear Liza, so I had to order a new pair.  Earlier this year my fellow Trouble Maker friend had sent me a link to a website which sold all things Chickens themed.  So I tracked the e-mail down, looked at the site and ordered some new wellies which arrived the next day, bless them!  So here they are....

Now you know what I am wearing when I am flying my kite!!

Now back to the subject of this posting.  Snippets.  I am sure you all have some in your room, closet, trolley, box etc, so why not dig them out, make a card, layout, book or whatever, and join us all in the Playground which is HERE and run by the Lovely Di!

Tag you are It!

Hugs
