First Rudolph Day of 2016

Hello there My Friends

Gosh where did January go then? I don't know about you but I have been pretty busy this month with one thing or another and to be quite honest, I am hoping that February and the rest of 2016 will be a bit kinder to me.

So here we are at the end of January and I have two cards to share with you for the Rudolph Day over at my friend Mo's blog.

Here is the first one...

I stamped some Snippets of red card with the bauble stamps and die cut them with my Spellbinders dies.  More Snippets for the Memory Box ribbon and Penny Black sentiment, a little ribbon onto the background MME paper and a card was born.

And just for good measure, I made another card....

Again I used some Snippets including the glitter paper border down the side and the vellum.  The lady was cut a long time ago when I was with my friend, and I will try and use the rest of them.  It needed a little dolling up when I finished, so added some glossy accents and sprinkled MS glitter over.  The vellum was left over from another card which I stamped the Stampenduous border stamp and embossed gold powder.  No idea where the background music paper came from, I found it in my Snippets drawer when I was clearing it out.

Running off to my friend Mo's Rudolph Day and the Snippets Playground with my cards.  See you on the swings with Parsnip.  I need a cwtch with my fluffy friend!!

Mummy and Daddy's Diamond Anniversary

Hello my Lovelies!

My Wonderful parents celebrated their 60th Wedding Anniversary a couple of weeks ago and I had a little spark of an idea for the card I wanted to make.  When I saw my lovely Buddy's card for her friend's 25th I just knew it was the right idea.  So without further ado here is the card I made for my parents.....

This photo is one of my favourites of their wedding.  I scanned it from the little album that were given to their parents.  I have my Grandad's album...lucky me!!

A close up of the sparkly die cuts.  Can you tell I had great fun making this card?

Side view with another photo.  The box base I cut using my Silhouette so that I could have fancy edges.

And now one showing the happy Lovebirds cutting their cake.  I am telling you, I have never used so many blingies on one card!!

Top view.  I wanted to ensure that the bits looked as good from the front as the back so I adhered another shape to the back.
I used a few Snippets and had to raid the Christmas Snippets basket as I ran out of the silver.  Luckily I managed to find a few more bits.
Here is the card folded.

And now the other folded side.

This card took me several hours to make and all the time I was giggling as it was so much fun.  My parents loved it and my Dad, ever the engineer kept looking to see how I made it!!

I am going to sneak this into the Butterfly Challenge - K is for Knot...well the were tying the knot after all!!

I am also going to skip over to the Cuttlemania Challenge as there isn't a square in sight!!

Off to the Snippets Playground now to have a play and see if there is any choklit behind the bike shed!!  See you there!!

Red Snippets for Tracey...

Hello Helloo!

How y'all doing?  Another beautiful weekend has just whizzed by.  I hope you had a good one.  Mine was quite exciting as Hubby took me to a Chicken Farm which is about 10 miles from Chez Hettie and I got to choose two new Babies yesterday.  So my flock is now back up to 7.  One original Sussex Ziva, four recycled ex-batts Tracey, Mrs A, Miss Di and Caitlin and now a black speckled Maran called Hinge and a Black Rock called....yep!  Bracket!  Hubby came up with the names and as he bought them he could choose the names.

We then went up to Hereford for a little shopping session and then to a local Hostelry for my Birthday Dinner.

Now.  Enough waffle and on to the point of todays post... A few days before mine, one of my friends in work has a birthday and she is SIX days older than me.  I like to remind her of that as often as I can!  Bit like someone else I know who was born the same year as me.
Everything on this came out of the Snippets drawer except the string.  That was a recent purchase.  Shhhh!  Don't tell anyone - I have been on a stash ban recently due to up coming holiday.  But a little bit of string will not hurt anyone will it?

The plain red was in with the Christmas stash, and punched with MS punch.  The stripey was left over from a layout which I did many moons ago. I flipped it over to punch the left side.  The flowers, all Memory Box were cut and then I added some glossy accents and sprinkled them with some glitter.

The sentiment was stamped and punched with SU labels and Hero Arts stamp.  Three VOS pearls and a card was born.

I have a large stock of of envelopes with no cards so I am making my own cards to fit and use them all up and this was one of them.

Right, I am taking this down to the Snippets Playground to show the Girlies and to tell them about the New Kids on the Block Hinge and Bracket.  I will share photos just as soon as I can get Mr Hettie's camera off him.

I am also going to take this over to Darnell's NBUS challenge seeing as there is some new stuff on it!

My friend Alison has just reminded me that I may enter this into the Red Challenge over at Artistic Outpost.  Thanks Alison!

Thanks for calling by and have a great week.

Scrapbooking Tuesday.....T stands for Friends

Hello there!

Yep!  It is still Tuesday so I can still (just) get in on the Tea on Tuesday malarky with my mate Elizabeth and Bleubeard!   I was going to post this at lunchtime but the sun was shining so brightly outside my office  window I just had to go an enjoy some and get some vitamin D.  Never mind I am here now.

Today I am sharing another layout, and the last of my Wedding Album (though I may sneak some more pages in later as I have so many left!).........

Yep - four mates from school.  Helen (in the mustard dress) on the left, I first met when we went to Fairwater Comprehensive (High School), Sarah, next, is my longest friend.  We met when her family moved into the row above our house when we were just three.  Helen on my left and I met when she moved from North Wales to her cousin's house near to mine, and her cousin asked me if I would look after her.  I still correspond with Helen (mustard dress) as she lives in Yorkshire, and Sarah and I saw each other only last Sunday, but unfortunately the other Helen I have not seen for some time.

And here is my mug.  I do like Eeyore - we have the same view of life in some respects.  I am drinking my large coffee having just returned from work!

I used some more papers from the wedding album kit along with some Snippets, McCall punch, Sizzix dies, Cricut, glossy accents, Hampton Art glitter, pearls, TH stamp, Memento ink, Tonic die, vellum and button.

Can you see the vellum peeking from the top of the photo using my new (shhhh!) NBUS Tonic die.  I just love this one (Regal Circle Doily).  I can see a LOT of uses for this one!

I do like this flourish die from Sizzix - I use it so much.  A good die is worth it's weight in gold don't you think?  The layered flower is not used quite so much, yet I don't know why as it is lovely.

Thanks for calling by and letting me waffle again!  I do hope you have found some inspiration from my post and wafflings.  Feel free to join us over at Elizabeth's for a cuppa and natter.  Also, to the Snippets Playground for a play on the virtual rides.  You may even get to feed Puggles - our new Platypus who seems to want constant feeding!  If I can get him to stay still I will try and get a photo of him to share!

Scrapbook Tuesday - T is for.....Mini Album!

Hello There

Let me start by apologising for being "off the radar" a little at the moment.  I have a big quilting project on the go at the moment which needs to be finished by the 29th!!  Unfortunately due to being poorly last month it has put me behind schedule a little!  Don't fret, I will be sharing it once it is finished!

Well today is Tuesday.  Time to share a scrapbooking project with you as well as join in with Elizabeth and Bleubeard with a cuppa, or in my case a glass of squash.

On Saturday my Buddy and I had our monthly Scrapping Day so, true to my aim this year, I finished a project which I am sharing with you today.  Yeay!!!

Here it is....

Today I am drinking some blackberry and apple squash.  It was dinner time when I took the photos, hence they are not very good as I had to use the flash. Apologies for that.

I made this mini album for my Mum in Law for her 80th Birthday.  We were planning to take her to Longleat as her present.  I made her a "ticket", album and we bought her a digital camera.  Unfortunately soon after her birthday her sister died and a few bouts of ill health, so we only got to take her to Longleat last August, on her 83rd birthday.

As far as she knew it was only Hubby, myself and her that were going.  However I had managed to arrange for her niece, her hubby and daughter to meet us at Longleat, which was a lovely surprise for her.

Luckily we were all able to fit into Helen's car rather than ours.  It would have been a tight squeeze!  Poor Mia sat in the rumble seat in the boot!

The weather was glorious and altogether we had a lovely day.

It took some time to locate the album for me to have back to put the photos in (none of which MIL took!  Anyone want a brand new unused 14 megapixel camera?) and the album has been waiting for me to print photos and put this together.

Ta dah!  Finished.  I shall let MIL have it back now and another job done and dusted out of my room.

So then. Why not pop over with a cuppa to Elizabeth's blog and share what you are up to today?  I am also popping over to the Snippets Playground as I most probably used snippets at the time I made the album, though it was before I was blogging.  I certainly used Snippets to mount the photos on before adhering them into the album.

Thanks for calling by and I will visit you if you call by as soon as I can.

Hugs

Happy Birthday to My Special Friend

Hello there Peeps

I hope you have had a good weekend.  Yesterday it was lovely weather here in this little bit of Wales and I had a Play Day with my Buddy Mandy.  Great fun was had and a lot of work was done amongst giggles and chatting.

Today had been a day of showers and greyness.  Nothing new there then!

Yesterday was the birthday of a dear blogging friend of mine, and I hope her card arrived in time, having posted it two weeks beforehand.  Otherwise I hope she doesn't see this post!

So here is my card for you to see......

I cut the card from Bazzill and scored lines on the edges.  Having die cut a background using X-Cut dies, I used my Sweet Poppy tree stencil with clear embossing paste then sprinkled pink and brown Martha Stewart glitter and left it to dry for 48 hours.

With some more pink cardstock I punched Tonic petal pairs to make the flowers and EK Success punched tag (stamped with Hero Arts stamps and embossed with WOW) and found some pink vellum to make some leaves.  Once I was sure the embossing paste was dry I made two slits either side of the trunk and threaded some ribbon through to make a bow.

As there are Snippets included I am off to the Snippets Playground to see my buddies.

Have a good week and see ya soon.

Happy Valentines Day my Darling

Hello There Folks!

I am back in the world of the living and hopefully Mr Chestin Fection and his buddies have gone on a hike for some time!  I am still not A1 but getting there and tomorrow I shall be going back in to the family of folks known as "work"!  Yeah I know!

I just about managed to drag my aching butt into my abandoned Craft Room on Thursday afternoon for the first time in over two weeks, to put Mr Hettie's Valentine's Day card together.  Unfortunately, not being out and about I was unable to get him a pressie too, so he had to make do with hugs and hopefully no bugs!

So here it is....

I used one of my Sweet Poppy Stencils and some Martha Stewart glitter to make the tree, having cut the background using an XCut die.  I stamped the arrows using WOW embossing powder and made a banner out of a Snippet of cardstock, doodled around the edge and added some Chit Chat stickers.  Oh yes, I also added some glossy accents to one heart and sprinkled some silver glitter on to it.  Well, it is a special anniversary for us later this year!

This I stamped on the inside of the card.  The colour is not brilliant, blame the dull weather for that!  Again I used my embossing powder of choice - WOW!

And this lovely sloppy stamp went on the right hand side inside.

Me?  I got spoilt with porridge in bed, made with Alpro (other milks are available, but I could not have dairy milk within two hours of my antibiotics), then Mr Hettie brought me a gorgeous card, a huge Boofle and later flowers!  I fink he loves me!

Right then, off to see what is happening in the Snippets Playground as the banner was from my Snippets basket.

Have a great week everyone!

Funkie Junkie 12 Tags of Christmas - No 10

Hello There

Gosh our first week of 2014 is under our belts already!  And here I am still sharing Christmas makes with you, only I made this the other day and am sharing it with you now.

As you are aware I have been taking part in Linda's 12 Tags of Christmas Challenge which deadline is ending pretty soon.  The Challenge is being sponsored by The Funkie Junkie Boutique.  I know I have no chance of finishing in time for the deadline but finish them I will just for myself.  So there!

Here is tag 10.....

A close up of the layers at another angle.  Can you tell that morning light is not brilliant these days?

This little peg is from Czech and is one of the last two I have left.  So there is one looking lonely now.  Not sure when I can go back to find any soon....

I stamped the background with Banana Frog stamps and an Inkadinadoo stamp with DI and embossed with clear embossing powder.  I embossed the trees with a TH folder and inked over with Pine Needles DI.  I took my embossing pen and embossed some "snow" on the trees with WOW embossing powder.
I cut a from from a precious Snippet of K&Co glitterstock using the TH die and adhered wit foam pads and added some bling to cover the holes.

Some ribbon and my silver string (had it for years and never used it as much as I have this year!).

Enough waffle, off to join the Challenge and the Snippets Playground.

Nearly the weekend yeay!  Thanks for popping over.

Funkie Junkie - 12 Tags of Christmas - Tag 9

Hello there Peeps

I have now got up to no. 9 of the Funkie Junkie 12 Tags of Christmas - Hurrah!!  This Challenge is sponsored by Funkie Junkie Boutique.  Still three more and two bonus tags to do - eek!  Where did the time go?

Click HERE to see Linda's tag inspiration and here is mine......

From Linda's tag I took the colours, the stamping on the plain tag with a snowflake stamp (free from Craft Stamper some time ago) before adding a mix of distress inks (Chipped Sapphire, Broken China and Blue Jeans which I dabbed onto my craftsheet and then added water before dipping the tag in.  I didn't feel there was enough depth so I spritzed a little Stream Colourwash which I was happy with.  Whilst I had the Colourwash out I sprayed some Prima flowers (VOS) which were a wishy washy grey/lilac colour and then added some silver embossing powder and embossed them.  I wish you could see them IRL as they look better than the photographs.
I also took the Snowflake and Heart theme.  Anyone who knows me will know that I have a collection of hearts in my kitchen.  I cut some Spellbinders snowflakes in different sizes using white cardstock and silver glittered cardstock.  I also cut a silver heart using a Sizzix die.  I layered the snowflakes with blue twine (VOS) and added some TH leaves which I embossed with silver embossing powder in several layers before adding some MS glitter whilst the powder was still molten.
Sorry about the photography.  I had to use the flash as the mornings are too dark  The red background is the Christmas runner on the bay window.  Some of the snowflakes are looking a little pink because of red background.  I assure you they are white.

A silver star and diamante pins through the top of the heart snowflake, some Czech ribbon tied with sheer ribbon and blue twine and my tag was finished.

I hope you like it.  I can see some of these ideas being transferred onto cards next Christmas.

Thanks for calling by.  I am just going to pop this over to the Snippets Playground as the cardstock used for snowflakes, leaves and glitter stock were all from my Snippets Box.

Rudolph Day - Last one of 2013!

Hello there Folks

Gosh today is the last Rudolph Day of 2013!!  It doesn't seem long ago that it was the first RD of 2013!

Before I start, you may want to get yourself a large coffee or something stronger as this is a loooong picture heavy post!  As promised I am sharing with you my little project I have been working on ready for December 2013.  Here goes....

Cover....Not very interesting as I decorate it at the end.  I am hoping to pick up a nice charm to dangle off the rings when I go to Bath with Miss and the Troublemaker on Saturday!
Inside cover..

Behind the Silent Night and in other places there are gaps so that extra tags may be popped in later if needed.

All the papers used are either a DCWV VOS mat pad, some of which I have struggled with using before as they are landscape and I tend to use portrait for my cards so they are perfick!  I have also used papers from the basket of Christmas Snippets and include papers used in previous Christmas Albums.  Also, like the Christmas trees and the flourish on page 3, they have been sent to me by kind bloggers.

Back of page 3 and Page 4.

Can you see I have a new toy?  A We R MK envelope board.   Love it!

So there you have it.  This year's Christmas Album from me, all ready and waiting to go on Sunday 1st December.  Lots of punching, folding, snippets, VOS, stamping, die cutting and generally having fun making this year's Christmas Album.  I got the idea from a video I came across on YouTube but alas cannot now find it.  If you would like me to show you how to make it I will do a tutorial for you.  Let me know in the comments.  It is quite simple to do the basic page and then engineer it to your whim.

Off to link this up to the last Rudolph Day of 2013 with my Buddy Sandra and also the Snippets Playground as this certainly used up a lot of Snippets in the making.  I am also linking this with Craftyhazelnut's Christmas Challenge - anything goes.

Alison has kindly suggested I also enter this into the Artistic Stamper Challenge - Christmas so that I am doing.  There are still a few days so why not enter a Christmas card in too?

Thanks for bearing with me.

Hugs

Hettie
