Shimelle Laine at Two Peas Challenge - July 2011

Good Evening Crafters

Well if you saw my posting from last Wednesday on the WOYWW you will know that I was working on a layout of my Wedding as part of Shimelle Laine's 4x6 Love on Twopeasinabucket.com.  I finished it...

The idea of this layout was to include 7 photos (July = month 7) and one page of journalling.  As the whole album is devoted to my album I did not want to add any journalling so I added a message to my "new" Hubby using my lovely Silhouette!

I did an appeal for titles as it is getting harder having done a few wedding layouts already and the lovely Bella came up with this one.  The other titles which were suggested have been written into my little Ideas book and will come in handy for the rest of the album so thank you all who sent me suggestions and thanks Bella for this one.

Again, I used my Silhouette to "write" the title, which I then filled in with Sharpies and after making a template using recycled packaging, I drew around the title and cut out.  (I will admit I did try putting it onto the die cutter but failed miserably - twice!!! Hence the template!)

You can see my Silhouette has been used for the little Love tab down the side of the picture.

All the papers are from American Craft as are the "words".  The butterflies are cut from a Martha Stewart punch.  The cardstock is Bazzill.  The stamp is Penny Black and I have used Black Soot and Broken China DIs.

Right, off to beddie byes now so good night and see you tomorrow when it is Wednesday!!  Nearly Thursday and NEC Quilt Show!!!  Please don't go without leaving me a comment.  It does make me smile and in the current climate we all need smiles!

TTFN!

Scrapbooking Layout - Notre Dame!

Good Evening Fellow Crafters

If you saw my posting yesterday you will remember that I told you that I had won the July Challenge for Shimelle Laine's 4x6 Love on Twopeasinabucket.  I have been very remiss and forgotten to post this layout on my blog so here it is.

I have been following Shimelle Laine's 4 x 6 Love Classes, but up until now I have been using my wedding photos. However, after watching the video I decided that I wanted to use some of my Paris photos which were taken on a trip to celebrate our 20th Anniversary, which I had received that day by post.

I flicked through the photos and out came 6 portrait photos of Notre Dame which I thought would be perfectly suited to this challenge.

Instead of using patterned papers I had the idea of creating my own paper with TH Alcohol Inks. I used a sheet of glossy card, alcohol inked it and then cut it into four 3 x 12 pieces to make the tops and bottoms of both pages. I cut another piece to make the red blocks which I stamped using TH and Cavallini stamps. At the top of the layout I used some ribbon in order to pick up the green of the trees, and the pink that is in the embellishments. The bottom edging I made with white cardstock and a Martha Stewart punch. Layered up some punched circles, cut the top title on my Silhouette, the bottom title with my Sizzix dies, some bakers twine, a pin and hey presto a layout which I absolutely love! It is nearly a wedding layout - just Wedding Anniversary instead!!!

I hope you like my layout.  I know for sure that I would never have attempted the alcohol ink backgrounds if it weren't for the Grungy Monday series by the Lovely Linda so thanks Linda!!

Talking of Grungy Monday, if Postman Pat doesn't get a move on I may have to miss it this week!!  Shock!! Horror!! Oh No!!  My heat gun died on me on Monday night just as I was in the middle of making a schparkly Poinsettia for the front of a book.  I will let you imagine how I felt about that shall I?  I ordered a new one straight away from Craft Obsessions which they dispatched on Tuesday.  I think it is taking the slow donkey!!  Typical as I NEED it!!!  Maybe tomorrow ey!!

Off to beddie-byes now as I am feeling very tired and need to be up and ready for the weekend as I am going to have to use my painting skills on the window frames - deep joy!!  However, if it is raining, then I will be painting louvre doors in the room that was my former craft room so that it can be a bedroom again instead of a large space in which we dump "stuff"!!

That's all Folks!  Don't forget to leave me a comment please!!

Cherish - Wedding layout

Good Evening Friends

Sorry I haven't blogged for a few days but I have had a very topsy turvy end of last week and weekend!

You remember I told you on Wednesday that I had been to Hospital that very afternoon for my pre-op assessments?  Well!  On Thursday I received a letter informing me I had an appointment for the Aneasthetist (excuse spelling!) a week AFTER my operation was scheduled.  So on Friday I telephoned the Hospital twice to find that they had cancelled my operation (no thought to tell me) and that it was possibly not going to happen until May!!!!  Another two months to add to the 14 months I have already waited.  Laugh!!!  Not!! Not a Happy Bunny at all!!!

Well, Saturday was much better as my Buddy Mandy and I went to Chepstow to the Artstamps show.  It was a little smaller than the last two years due to the Malvern Craft Fair being on the same weekend.  Never mind.  Retail Therapy I was going to have!  I spent a small fortune!  I bought a few stamps (I know you will all be shocked - not!) but my real bargain was the Colour Washes from Adirondack.  Snazzys is selling all theirs at a knockdown price of £3 per bottle.  I had 6 bottles in my stash at home and up until now every time I saw them for sale I would buy another one to build up my stash.  However, they are now being discontinued so I knew I NEEDED (of course needed!) to finish the set.  At £3 a bottle I bought all the colours I was missing i.e. 6 of them!!!  Heavy bag to begin with but hey ho!  Bargains have got to be had.  They all look so cool in their tin.  I will show you my tin later in the week when I can get better pictures taken in daylight.

On Sunday we went to see my Mum and Dad with a large china Goose under my arm.  I saw it at the Garden Centre on the way down and could not resist buying it for my Mum as an early Mother's Day present!  It will cause some amusement and last much longer than flowers!

I am still working on my friend's Wedding Invites so nothing much to show on those yet, but tonight I decided to clear the deck so that I could actually have some "me" time.  It is Monday after all, which is customarily MY night for fun!!!

The pictures are not very good as they have been taken in my craft room under electric light but I wanted to share the layout with you.

I am putting this on Two Peas website click HERE where they are running four workshops a month which are free!  Yes FREE!! Each designer is taking a different aspect of scrapbooking and producing a workshop every month.  This layout is one that Shimelle Laine has given the sketch and video whereby you are to put two 4x6 photographs on.  I have decided to use these to make a Wedding Album for me and Hubby!  It is about time seeing as we got married in 1989!!  (Before you ask, Yes I was a child bride!!)  The problem has been finding papers as I wanted blues and most of the Wedding papers are either purples or pinks.  Not me and my colour was blue.

Well, going to reintroduce myself to my Hubby as he has not seen much of me tonight!  What is new?!!!

Thanks for looking.  I hope you like and please leave me a comment, I do appreciate every one of them.
