Rudolph Day - First of 2013

Hello Friends

Do you remember last year I joined in with my friend Sandra of Stamping for Pleasure  to celebrate Rudolph Day on the 25th of each month?  Well, I am joining in again this year in order to ensure I get ahead and have Christmas cards ready in time for the Big Day!!  So here are the first two cards which I have made and I have four more similar cards cut out ready to rock'n'roll.

You may recognise the stamps as being from the lovely Sheena Douglass set which I was lucky enough to win in the Playground draw! Thank you Di, they are gorgeous.  Lots of potential and I am having great fun playing with them!

I inked up backgrounds using Pine Needles, Seedles Preserves, Gathered Twigs and Festive Berries Distress Inks.  I spritzed and flicked with some water and once dried I inked the border ivy stamp with Archival ink, stamped down the side of each piece and embossed the image with clear embossing powder.  I thank made teeny tiny "berries" with liquid pearls.

For the main image, again using Archival ink, I stamped the large mistletoe image onto cardstock and embossed the image with clear embossing powder.  I coloured the leaves and stems with a mixture of Copic markers and Distress Markers.  I cut around the mistletoe image but felt the background was too white.  So using distress inks I "washed" the backgrounds using a water pen.  I cut the gold/silver background using my Spellbinders die, punched my new EK Success punch, inked the SU tag and stamped with the sentiment which was in the SD set.  Plenty of Snippets used on these cards!

For those of you who know I go dancing on Wednesday evenings, I thought I would let you see how I celebrated Burns Night last night!  Dancing a Seann Triubhas in front of a packed room (about 100 guests) and an old friend Archie piped for me!  This was the first time I have had the crowd clapping to time and a standing ovation!!

Sorry it the photo is not quite in perfect focus but I kept moving!!

Tee Hee!

Well, firstly . . . .I love your two Rudolph Day cards. Great inky backgrounds and pretty mistletoe focal points.

Secondly . . .I agree with Rach on how brave you are to dance with an audience.

Wow... so amazing that you danced in front of so many people - well done you!
I love your card - so many cards at the moment are quite simple and plain (though still very beautiful)... yours is so warming and rich - stunning!
Anyway... I was just popping over from Pixie's Place to say "Hi!"...

Ohhhh, you are so brave...good for you girl! You look great and i am sure that you never were still. I remember when my youngest took Irish dancing for a year...then sadly decided it was not for her:(
So great that you danced on Robbie Burns Day.

Your cards look great, love the way you hung the mistletoe in the cutout sindow...just like it hangs in real life.

I'm glad to be back too...made some changes on a daily and weekly basis that should give me more energy...translation...I am doing next to nothing other than the 2 morning with the grandkids. The rest is me time till I feel stronger. DH is holding down the fort ...well my share of the fort anyway!
