Happy Birthday Johan...

Hello Friends

As most of you are by now aware, I do Scottish Dancing most weeks and have done so since I was 11 years old.  Well the lovely lady who inspired me to take up Scottish Dancing and still teaches has a very special birthday today and is 80 years old - yes 80!

Her family have taken her away for a surprise trip this weekend and so last Saturday we have a "bit of a do" for her at our regular monthly dancing class and here is the card which I made for her.......

I have used a fair few techniques and embellishments on there and very much enjoyed making this card.  It just kept growing!

The card is a standard white 5x7 card which I inked around the edges with Gathered Twigs DI to take it away from being quite so white.  I then took a sheet of the Czech book (Snippet) and inked that using GT and Vintage Photo DI and then I splashed it with water to create some droplets on there, before drying it off with a heat gun.  I stamped the two corners top left and bottom right with SU Fresh Vintage stamp and embossed with gold embossing powder, and then attached it to the card.

Next I took a piece of Tim Holtz Cordinations cardstock with the Bingo embossing folder, sanding the raised part of the card once embossed.  I inked around the edge of the embossed card with GT and VP DI, adhered a small Snippet of lace to the bottom edge  and adhered this to the card.  I had a rummage through my (now reduced) Snippets box for the piece which makes the ribbon and once inking with VP DI I adhered this to the bottom of the Bingo and added a button.

The main image is one of my new Artistic Outpost stamps which I purchased from HERE, inked with Archival Ink (Latte) onto a Snippet of cream cardstock, distressed and inked around the edges with GT DI and adhered to the card.  Then came the fun!!

Using the TH Pinecone die I cut out several pieces of Snippets papers for the Roses and also some leaves. I made up the Roses using my glue gun, inked the edges with VP and GT DI and again using the glue gun I adhered these to the card, having die cut a small tag and stamped with SU Love stamp.

To finish I sprayed the whole card with Gold Glimmer Mist.

I cannot put this in the Playground yet as Miss has shut the gates, but I will just have to leave it on the step outside until Miss gets there tomorrow!

Linda over at Frilly and Funkie has kindly told me I may link this up with her Sunday Share!   Thanks Linda!

I hope Johan doesn't mind me sharing my favourite photo of her last Saturday so you can "meet" this remarkable lady!

Happy Birthday Johan!

Thanks for popping by and hope you are having a great weekend!

Hettie
xx

What a fab card. You did a great job and I bet she just loved it.
I thought her beaming smile was just great!

I love the walk through you do on making the card. I need that in order to figure out this Tim Hotlz stuff...I have an embossing foder on my desk at the mo (it;s not the right one but noone in my area has the correct one instock...but it will work for my version of Tims tag this month. I just have to goggle what size to hand cut the tag and I am going to get started on it. I have wread through a few of Tims walk throughs on his blog so will try to follwo that.

Next it is the folded cards!

What a beauty - love the vintage color palette. That gold embossed flourish in the corners is beautiful! Gorgeous flowers and great use of the AO image! And thanks for linking up to my shop. I need to get Sunday Share going over at F&F and you could enter this over there too.

Have a great week.

Really stunning card Sam for a lady who you're obviously very fond of. So much work and love in this card - Rach said what I was going to say, I hope I look like that at 80!

And as for Mrs A, in disguise I see with a new photo, Dancing chooks - whatever next?! We'll have a donkey in the Playground soon :))

Hugs, and sorry the gates were closed. I fell over your card when I went to open up again!

Hugs, Di xx
