Tea on Tuesday - T is for BeauTiful.

Hello there

I hope you all had a beautiful weekend over the Bank Holiday weekend?  I sure did for most of it.  I decided it would be a computer free time as I spend so long all day on my work computer and then a few hours in the evening, the sun was out to play and I was going to enjoy it.

Now it is Tuesday, and time to share a cuppa with my friend Elizabeth.

Now regulars will know I usually share a scrapbook project with you.  However, today I am going to share something that will no doubt turn into a scrapbook project.  The mug is a bit of a clue.....

It is actually one of Mr Hettie's Sophie Allerton mugs, which he let me borrow for my share today. What am I showing you?  Something wonderful from late yesterday afternoon.  Mr Hettie opened up our bee hive....
Some propalis honey in the making there.  This was the first time I was able to spot it.

Some capped honey ready for us to extract in the next week or so....
We took the frame below out for a few moments and the bees came up for a looksie...
Now this is a frame with egg cells on.   No if you look closely towards the top, about a third of the way down you will see a little black spot poking out.....

Here it is before the....
And now....  Yes.  We got to witness a bee emerging from its cell!  It is the one on the left here.  What a wonderful sight to capture.  Mr Hettie thinks it is a drone as it is substantially larger than the other bees, though not big enough to be a new Queen.  I feel so honoured that we were able to see it and on an occasion when I remembered to take the camera with me.
And here I am in my finery!  That is the Chicken Run behind me!

I hope you enjoyed sharing this with you and no doubt you will see a scrapbook project using these photos.

Hugs

Hettie

love that mug!

thx for the fascinating photos of the bees. we have a craft fair here that has someone who brings a demonstration bee display, with bees between a frame. i've never seen a bee emerge from a cell before, but they always point out the queen while i'm watching the bees do their thing. bees are fun to watch.

I'm so glad you shared this today. I've never seen a beehive before, except from the outside on TV. You know the director isn't going to let the star get stung, so it's not the same as seeing you in your finery and a bee emerging from the cell.

You have such a wonderful lifestyle with chickens and bees (OH MY!!). I always enjoy the visit, and look forward to seeing what you create in this scrapbook project.

Thanks for BEEing such a good player this week and showing us a side of you and beekeeping we've not seen before during T.

amazing shots of the bee keep -wow! I admire you for doing it. Beekeeping is slowly gaining popularity in my local area. I just saw 3 different seminars being held about it. Love the coordinating mug :) Happy T day!

I love the mug. Prefer my bees painted. (Scared of bees--even an outfit like yours would not get me near the hives.)
Happy T-Day! :)

This was absolutely fascinating and I admire your courage to be so close to them, call me timid! They surely make quite a bit of buzz when outside of the frame.
Cute mug and what an interesting post, so glad you took the time to share with us.

Well Mrs Beekeeper...this was an amazing post! It was so fun to see the hive and see the bee emerging!

There has been such a loss of bees around the world that it is good to hear of some that are robust and strong.

My Dad loved honey and was very particular about what the bees feasted on. He only liked honey from certain areas as he did not like the strong taste of clover!!! lol I like it all!

I know what you mean about needing some screen-free time. I try to have at least one screen-free day per week.

Hope you had a Happy T Day! In this case, it was more like a B Day. :) Thanks for this fascinating peek into your beehive.

V impressed that you took a computer free time... not sure how I'd cope! Looks like you had plenty to keep you busy in the meantime - how exciting to see the bees in action... and yes, a perfect subject for scrapping. Honeycomb textures galore!!

So sorry to be absent for ages... you know what it's like!
