Hello Blog Hoppers!!
Happy Wednesday, Happy Hump Day, Happy WOYWW Everyone! Today I am joining in the fun that is WOYWW with the Hostess with a mucky pinnie-on but it is due to hard work I assure you.
So, keep it brief is the brief from Miss Julia so here is my desk this week.....
Aha! Not my usual desk but the opposite desk as I am busy making a small quilt from a pattern I fell in love with at the Quilters Guild AGM in Nottingham last month. I am in the "mood" at the moment for finishing jobs off. You see that is partly fuelled by the need to clear the huuuuuuge pile of sewing clutter that sits on my Treadle machine and ottoman in the Guest Room as we have guests coming to stay in October (you know who you are!!). So rather than just find somewhere else to dump it I am working my way through it. And to prove it, here is one of those "jobs needing doing" which has now moved to the "jobs done" list.....
Yep, a nice new ironing board cover which I made myself using a Snippet of fabric which by my estimation I have had since at least 1997. Loooooong story which involves a Duck called Doris! I even made my own bias binding for this too! I knew you would be impressed, I know I was! (You can see the treadle machine behind the ironing board, and believe you me that is a huge improvement!)
So then. You know what to do......Please leave me a comment, if you will, so I know you have been here, and then hop off over to Miss Julia's blog and enjoy the rest of the Round the World Blog Hop known as WOYWW!!
TTFN and Thanks for calling by!
Hugs
Hettie

Looks like lots of fun there! I am going through a sewing phase again at the moment - such fun! Not joining in woyww this week so just passing by.....
I want to know about Doris!! You can't just drop a snippet like that into the conversation without explanation!!!! Nice ironing board cover btw and bias binding is ok to make, isn't it? You get a much nicer result, I think.
Am looking forward to seeing you at the crop! Btw, very cute picture of Little Hettie with the puppy on your profile page!
Hugs LLJ 34 xx
But you have Chickens! Now I too need to know about Doris! Well done to you. Won't ever see fabric sewing on my desk for fun. I find it too stressful. #30 PS: will do a how to on that card some time soon!
You tease....what about Doris?
Fab ironing board cover and well done you for tackling the sewing pile [you and me both hehehe] :-)
Hugs,
A x # 53
Fab sewing going on! I still haven't cracked sewing in a straight line!! I was instantly drawn to BOO on your light, it's Keagan's nickname! Take care Zo xx 65
A duck called Doris? tell us at the crop....
Nothing like giving yourself a deadline to finish projects. Helen, 5
Neat board cover!! The quilt looks lovely too. I don't think bees like the Bee flies - honey bees keep dive bombing them so I guess they know they are stealing their nectar! x Jo
You're a scream, I cannot, even in mymind, connect the fabric from 1997 to a Duck. Love the ironing board cover...and I have a to do pile of fabric and such that I could cheefullly add to yours. Why is there so little time! I love that you've started now for October guests!
Your flower quilt is coming along most growingly. Like the pattern on your cover too. Me I just used an old sheet folding loads of times and used drawing pins to hold onto board which is a wooden one.(Heirloom gotta be at least 65yrs +) Couple safety pins on there too. Hugs Mrs A.
Now tell us about Doris!!!!!!!
That's one thing I need to sort out is a new ironing board cover. Mine;s well past it but making something for a job I hate seems a little strange!
Yours look great
Thanks for sharing your crafty space and have a great week
Happy Crafting

I am super impressed not only working through the pile but actually creating an ironing board cover too. That is something that I am not good at, sewing that is.
Thanks for sharing your space today, keep up the good work. The house will be fit for the Queen.

Great name for a Duck, Doris Duck, wasn't she in Seven Duckessess for Seven Duckers?
Well done on completing the ironing board cover, l wouldn't know where to begin.
Happy WOYWW xx
I'm with all the others- we need to know about Doris. Looking forward to the crop, and meeting up with lots of people too. Have a great week, Hugs Shaz #118 xx
Hi Hettie, you know you're going to have to tell us that long story at some point don't you? I'm impressed with your dedication to the cause of reducing your pile of fabric from the guest room by October - we all seem to be so last minute about things it's good to see someone with a mission! Have a creative week MMx #72
I've got thE Itch to quilt aGAIN TOO!!Thanks for sharing!Have a great week! Ginny #120
hey hettie, your quilting is looking great love sunflowers. There is so much sewing on the workdesks this week, it is great to see. You do realise you are going to have to explain about Doris now aren't you... maybe next week

Great ironing board cover, one of our most unusual snippets so far :)
Now, dish the dirt about Doris the Duck!
Hugs, Di xx
busy fun looking desk! I need a new cover on my board but just haven't had time to cover it. My mother used to use old raggedy bed linen to cover hers when needed. Recycle and repurpose was a rule around our house. Hope you have a great week and thanks for sharing! Vickie #36
Helllooo, I just had to pop in and visit someone named Hettie. My grandmother was called Hettie short for Henirette, I think. And she was from Cornwall! Love the perky cover. Happy WOYWW! Nan G #87
Well Hettie .. .. that certainly looks a hive of industry there!!!
Have fun.
Love Jules xx
OMG You are putting me to shame...and I can hardly keep up with one hobby...well 2 really if you count the neglected garden. hahahaha
Cards, scrapbooks, lace, quilting and sewing...oh yes...painting too...You go girl!!!
Missed WOYWW for the last few weeks. Hope to make it over next week as I want to show the cards I received in March (yours will be featured too) and give a little recognition to the artisits.
We finally finished the left side of the garden and the bottom flower bed. Sadly, the larger bed on the right side will have to wait till spring to be finished...just too jot and the plants are too big to keep going.
Hoping to get photos tomorrow if the rain ever stops!
Off to properly have a look over your mini book as I was rushing when I visited last.
