Happy Birthday Jackie...

Hello there

I hope you have all had a wonderful Easter weekend. The weather here at Chez Hettie has been wonderful and I have enjoyed a great weekend, involving meeting with friends and spending quality time with Mr Hettie.

As the weather was so nice Mr Hettie wanted to open up the hives. Mine first and they were pretty happy to let us have a good look. However when it came to us looking at Mr Hettie's bees, they decided that enough was enough and stung me through my jeans. I am sorry to say that I am still suffering with my right thigh burning, swollen and with a very large blister forming.  I had about 8 stings in that one.  Little critters!

Right then, onto today's post. I recently dipped my toe into the world of Brushes. My excuse is that I am going on a workshop soon where we can use them and wanted to make a card for my friend Jackie ...

I Spritzer some paper and used two blue shades of brushos and I sprayed water in my mini mister with some white perfect pearls. I hope you can see the shimmer. I then ran the paper, once dried, through my die cutter with Sizzix hexagon die, as Jackie is a quilting friend.
I used Snippets to make the tag and flowers using TH dies and flourish using Tonic die. I stamped a SU image on the tag with DI and used a McGill punch to make the little flowers.

Some pearls, Hero Arts HB sentiment and I was finished. Jackie was pleased with it and surprised to learn I had made it.

Thanks for calling by. Off to join the Snippets Playground. Hopefully there will be some chocolate left. I am also joining Cuttlebug Mania as they are looking for tags.  Have a great week.

Hugs

Hettie

I s your favourite singer Sting?

It's nothing to laugh at as I can see,
If you've ever been stung by a bumble bee
and your nose swells up, and it smarted too,
You wouldn't want people to laugh at you.

Thank goodness I can't remember the rest of the poem and thank goodness you weren't stung on the nose.
Why am I here .. oh yes - the card.

Love the colours, love the stamp, love the splatters, flowers are great, I thought it had a quilting touch, which is good for a quilting friend, so ok, tip top card.

Beautiful card Sam! Aren't Brushos fun - and you used them so well by going for the patchwork look. I was hoping you'd realise this qualifies beautifully for the current Cuttlebug Mania challenge as well as the Snippets Playground :)

Naughty little bees stinging you like that - they obviously woke up feeling grumpy!

Hugs

I got completely distracted by Kathleen's comment for a couple minutes lol!
You is brave Miss Hettie - I am terrified of bees and when they bite have a bit of a reaction - five stingers sounds awful!
However a really beautiful card - love your Brusho pieces - must be something to do with it being brighter and lighter as we've all been dabbling with Brusho's in one or another this weekend!
I hope those stings stop hurting you soon Karen x

Beautiful card. Love the hexagons and yes they remind me of my Nannie's Flower Garden quilts. The colors of your card are wonderful. Jackie is very lucky to have such a good friend who makes cards. Thanks for playing along with us at Cuttlebug Mania!
Blessings,

This is gorgeous Hettie! I love how your brusho's came out, I'm thinking I need me some too but have yet to get any. All the beautiful cards I've seen being done with them though makes me think I need to get an order in. lol I love the flowers and tag too and then there's that shimmer, oh who doesn't love shimmer?! I'm surprised you were willing to work with honeycomb hexagons (even in blue) given what those bees did to you! Glad you did though, as I think Jackie's card is a cracker... love the pops of dimension in how you've mounted all the elements, and the tag is really pretty.
