WOYWW # 7

Hello there Fellow Crafters

Well, I'll go to the foot of our stairs!  How quick has this week gone?  And when is the Spring ever going to come?  You may recall that on a previous posting I asked if I should take the snowflakes down out of my craftroom windows yet and today - yes today - we are having little flurries of mini snowflakes here in Wales!  Only very small but I could not believe my eyes at first but Hubby confirmed it!

Well, I had planned that this week would be a sewing week as it has been a while since I last had one and I want to get my quilt off the hanging sheet and completed.   (Feel free to click HERE to see what I am on about.)  However, a friend of mine at work asked me last week if I would like to make some Wedding Invitations for her Aunt who is getting married soon.  I made up some examples based on a card that the Aunt already had (no putting too much of "me" into it then!) and on Monday one of the samples I made passed and a deal was struck.

The Wedding is in June, so the Invites will be needed for about mid to end of April.  As I am going into hospital to have my knee operated on (hurrah - at last!) in two weeks' time which will make standing a bit of a problem, I really need to get my skates on (chance woudl be a fine thing!).  So instead I will be making a start on doing all the cutting today so that when I am recouperating I will (hopefully) be able to just sit and put them together.   I like to be more of a "now" person than a "last minute" person when I can.  Rushing the job won't win me any favours (or further commissions!).

You may notice that I have a new addition to my desk - a clockA Very Large Clock!   (You can just see the back of it behind the card)  Hubby kept berating me about the fact that I say that I will be down at about 9 o'clock only to wander down eventually at about 10 o'clock (or later!).  I have a clock in my room (a handmade one nonetheless - no, not the movement silly!), but I have to look over my shoulder to see the time (and I need binoculars to read it but don't tell anyone!).  There is also a clock on the computer, but again, I always have my back to it, so when I was in a certain low-cost shop (B&M) I spied a nice looking clock with a large face which I thought I could live with being on my desk.  So here it is.  Not bad for £2.99!  Big enough for me to see without my glasses on!! LOL!!!

Well, off to make some Dinner for me and my lovely Hubby.  I am a little earlier tonight as I have been at the Hospital today having my pre-oppy whatsits! Shhhh!  Hopefully I can get to look at more of your desks tonight too.  I understand from the Great One that it was a record attendance last week.  If you are not sure what on earth I am on about with WOYWW click HERE and you will be magically transported, without moving off your chair, to the blog of Julia Dunnitt who organises this official nosey at other peoples' desks from around the world!

TTFN!  (That is Tigger speak for Ta Ta For Now!)

Hettie.

Really love how the quilt is coming along and your Wedding invites are really lovely. Thanks for your suggestion on my blog. She has tried the wrist bands as well as every possible suggestion she has been given but so far she has found nothing that has helped :-( We really hope she can find something soon so she can start enjoying what should be a very exciting time for her.
Hugs,
A x

Lovely invite, can see why you got the order!! Your clock looks similar to mine, only it is in black and sits and reminds me of the hours going by and the housework not done!! Love your stash fun box... definitely need to widen the gap so that real money can go in there... we all know you get nothing for pennies in a scrap shop!!

Hettie do be brave and try that brayer believe me the key is light touch, as I have arthritic weak hands I have never struggled with going light!
Also I think people put on too much ink as little, little by little and light by light is the way to go and play play play! it is fun!
Praying all goes well and be God blessed for the op.

Lovely invitation! The butterfly adds such sweetness.... I should get a clock like that.... But then I'm surrounded by time pieces and they don't do much good in the end!

Well ... first of all good luck with the op when the time comes. Sounds as if you are in pain so will be glad of it.
Love your clock - great piece for alcohol inking and fiddling about with.
Congrats on the commission - lovely card. Thanks for sharing.

Very nice invites. My daughter is getting married in 3 weeks, but no invites as it is immediate family only. :( Hope your surgery goes well and you are up and about soon.

Thank you for your lovely comments on my blog this week. They are so much appreciated. I had a little chuckle about the clock, as I have exactly the same problem. My husband says "when are you coming down?" and he complains that I always take much longer. I have a large clock on the computer screen as well as the little one on the toolbar, but it is hidden when I am using the computer to design. There is one on the phone, too, but I have to peer at that. So I now have a nice clear kitchen clock which is going up somewhere I can see it. Maybe it will help.....?

I think purple is in fashion this year for weddings. I am also helping a friend to produce invitations for her son's wedding, and their colour is purple too. We have finally had the design approved (number 20ish) so we can now get going.

Yours is so clean and crisp, absolutely perfect.

For anyone having problems with brayering, just watch Barbara Gray of clarity Stamps. She demonstrates very clearly the way to hold it for inking the brayer and for applying the ink, which uses least possible effort.

I can completely lose track of time when I'm crafting too. It's such an addictive hobby isn't it. Your card looks so elegant and chic
