WOYWW - OMG is it Wednesday? Really?

Hello there Peeps

I cannot believe that it is Wednesday already.  This time last week I, as well as alot of you no doubt, were running around trying to get everything ready in time for Christmas and now it is all over and all the Christmas decorations are at half price at the Garden Centre!!

What does Wednesday mean? Well it means that a bunch of crazy crafters all show pictures of their craft desks on their blogs and link up with the wonderful Desk Jockey - Julia.  And this Wednesday is the last one of 2011!!  Yikes!

I am not showing you my desk this week!  My head is hanging in shame because of the state of it, but all for a good cause.  1 , I was working until late Christmas Eve finishing pressies off and, 2, it is in bits as Hubby is working on installing a new set of drawers for me.

However, you may recall last week when I showed you my lovely Shrek hands which I had whilst attempting to decorate our Christmas Cake.  Well, here is the finished cake which alot of you lovely peeps asked me to show you......

I am pretty chuffed with the results and there was not too much swearing heard whilst putting it together except when I got a bit of wire down inside my thumb nail.  It still smarts a little today and I had to leave the cake for an hour as it bled like mad and I didn't want red icing!

My normal style of cake decorating is to roll out icing (ready made) and either put a large bow on the cake (think Christmas present) or I "plonk" Christmas Trees on it artistically.  I have never tried to cut out shapes and then wire and shape a design.  To say I was smug when I finished it is an understatement.  I think I will try and look for a sugarcraft class in my area in the New Year!

Some Christmas pics of my home for you to see, as some people did ask.......

(That cheeky Santa left his washing behind too!  That was because he went for a round on the Golf course with the Easter Bunny!!)

(Please excuse the firelighters stacked on the left hand side!)

I just want to wish you All a Happy, Healthy and Crafty New Year!  Thanks for reading this and a huge Thank You to all my Followers - you make blogging all the more worth it.  Bless you all!

Don't forget to drop by our lovely leader Julia's desk so you may see some of the other crafters' desks.

Hugs

Hettie

Oh wow - I am in awe of that cake. Well done you for just having a go! That is a maxim that I'm going to try and achieve this year - just have a go at things that I'd be nervous about trying and don't say 'Oh, I couldn't possibly do that...' See if I can stick to that resolution :)
Love all your Christmas decs, that's a cute old fireplace you have. It really looks the part. Perhaps you could rent it out for olde worlde film productions..lol!
It's been fun getting to know you through the blog. Thank you for all you kind words and comments over the past 6 months. Wishing you, S and gang a very Happy New Year!

You put me to shame with your decorated Christmas cake. Mine is of the rough windswept snowscene variety, with a vaguely flat patch where we stick the reindeer, Christmas tree, Father Christmas etc. Thank you for your visits and encouragement over the past year. I look forward to more next year, and wish you and your family a very Happy New Year, full of health, happiness and fun. xx Maggie #50

ow! poor thumb nail! I did something like that with bracken once, while building a hidey house with my girls (when they were little) It went straight through my thumb...took ages to get out! Never in a million years did I think bracken as a lethal weapon! Your cake is fantastic, shame to cut it, but I should think it's all been eaten now! Happy WOYWW
Happy New Year!!

Ooooooooooooooooohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh you have the same Santa washing line as me!!!! - sneaky peek on this post here http://www.sunshinegirlnicola.blogspot.com/2011/12/happy-christmas-everyone.html - I went to Bramble Patch and did a class with wotshername to make mine - did you? did you fret over the pattern on Santa's pants too? me and my friends did took us ages to find suitable pants! Might redo my hat and trousers though as I dont really like the pattern on mine, but then I have said that every year since I made it!!!!! Hope you and yours had a fabulous christmas (love that cake by the way) and a wonderful new year too.

It looks gorgoeus and well worth a bit of blood!! I have hot hands, useless for bread and icing, which I leave to hubby and daughter, I just do the bits they cant stomach!! Like plucking and gutting and boning the turkey!!

Happy WOYWW, xx

Fabulous fireplace! The key to having a clean desk is get new matt's to replace the holey thinning old ones, it doesn't stay clean and large for long!
