Sunday Stampers - Buttons

Hello Again.

Thanks for joining me on my Blog.

One of the reasons I wanted to set up a Blog is so that I could join in the fun and frolics of some of the Challenges which go on in the Blogging World, including Sunday Stampers with Hels Sheridan.  I really like that Girl!  I would love to spend an afternoon with her - not sure much work would get done but I know my chuckle muscles would get a good workout! LOL!!!

Well yesterday's Challenge was Push the Button so here is my little take on the subject.

My Hubby recently became a Bee Keeper after a long time looking into the subject and saving the pennies needed to buy the hive and colony.  As this has been the first Winter we have had with the Bees, the extremely cold weather has made him very nervous.  However, last weekend (not the one just gone) it was such a lovely day I could put my washing out.  I then had to call my Hubby as I could see the Bees very happily going in and out of their Hive .  It was a lovely sight I can tell you! Hence the Believe!

Last week I ordered the Bee stamp from Happy Daze and had to "try" it out so this is what I came up with.

Please excuse the colours but they are a little washed out.  Probably because I do not have a chance to photograph them in daylight due to work (I did not finish it until late last night!) so it got a little bleached with the flash.
My Hubby thought I was mad as I have even stamped the edges but you never know from what angle anyone could be looking at it.

The canvas was painted "roughly" with gesso and left to dry.   I then inked it with DI Wild Honey and then through some sequin waste again with DI Honey and also Rusty Hinge.  I then stamped with several different flower stamps in various colours.  However, when I was "fiddling" before deciding what to put where I thought that the background was a little too "busy" and dark.  So I tentatively sprayed the whole canvas with water and placed a piece of kitchen roll over it to mop up some of the colour.  Hey Presto.  I was much happier.

Here you can see that my Queen Bee has a little crown on!  Unfortunately I have used the smaller crowns out of my grungeboard so not to be outdone I cut round the "hole" and made her a dainty one!  The little scribble stamp round the edge is one of a fab set I bought from e-Bay some time ago.  It also includes "stitches" and is one of my favourite sets and it only cost me 99p plus postage.  Bargain!!!! The Bees were stamped onto watercolour paper firstly with black Stayzon, then painted with DI Mustard Seed and once dried I stamped again with embossing ink and embossed with holographic embossing powder to give a little sparkle - a Bee has to have a little sparkle for their wings!  I also stamped the background with some bees to give the impression of them going from flower to flower.

Thank you for taking the time to look at my Blog.  Please leave me a comment as I love to know what you Bloggers think.

Thanks

Sam

Well this blogger thinks that this canvas is gorgeous! Love that you saw the finer details and did the edges... tis important to do all the bits n bobs, it is what makes the piece special. I love the idea of the bee keeping... nothing sweeter than the sounds of buzzy bees... erm... buzzing :O)) I saw a bumble bee on Christmas Day two years ago and that made me worry that maybe the bees would get used to the mild winters and then a nasty cold one would harm them... seems that your little hive is happy tho... Sorry to have waffled on, you know me, can't ever shut up LOL Thanks for joining in with the Sunday Stamper! x
