Au Revoir Steph...

Hello there

Lovely weather isn't it...NOT!  I took Dobby out for a walk last night.  It didn't rain on us, it just poured with water!  Both of us looked like drowned rats when we got in!!

Never mind, perhaps my colourful lickle book will cheer you up?

Whilst on leave from work, one of my colleagues left the company to join another firm a lot closer to home and nearer to her small children's schools.  So, as has now become a tradition here, I made her a lickle book for everyone to sign...

Our company colours are orange and purple so I chose the orange as one of the main colours and mixed it with black. Perfect colours for this time of the year me thinks. The covers were made using MME paper.  The large flower to the bottom right is the last one of a pack a friend of mine brought back from France for me.  The others are a mix of Papermania, Prima, Kaisercraft and die cuts.

The two leafey fronds are cut using a TH die.

I fancied making some windmills to compliment the design on the paper, no idea why, and just fiddled with a square of paper until I was happy.  I attached them with the glue gun (which I managed to burn my fingies with - should have had adult supervision me thinks) and poked them into a TH birdcage diecut.

Now on to some inside pages...Now Steph is French, so I used some of my 7 Gypsies stamps which I won some time ago to add a little je ne sais quo (don't expect moi to spell French correctly now will you?).   What is embarrasing is that when using these I realised that some have never been used - eek!

My favourite stamp on the inside cover...

Some of the saying stamps were borrowed, from my matey.  I have also used some TH stamps, TPC Studios and others.
Some of the little strips are Snippets from my London album I made earlier this year.  Waste not want not!

The whole book was sprayed with some TH Heirloom gold glimmer spray.  Very shimmery which you cannot see from the photos.

I understand from the Girls in work that Steph loved her book and was a little emotional to read it in public.  That is nice to know.

I am joining in with Shopping our Stash as they are looking for Fall colours.  After seeing all the lovely oranges of trees last week then I think this is very autumny.

Right, as there are many Snippets in here I am taking this over to the Playground.  Hopefully the smell of damp souwesters will have died down now and there is some hot chocolate on the hob!

Thanks for calling by.

T on Tuesday...T Stands for err...

Hello there Peeps!

I am late for the Tea on Tuesday with my friend Elizabeth and Bleubeard.  Unfortunately I only finished this project yesterday and the light was no good for taking photos so I had to take them this morning.  Being the first Tuesday back after Bank Holiday it was hard to get up early enough!

So here is my cuppa...

In case you didn't know, I am a huge fan of NCIS, or should I say Leroy Jethro Gibbs.  What I wouldn't do to be left in an interview room with him!

Anyhoo...moving on!  The book that is next to my mug is another leaving book for one of the girls in work.  She is leaving the firm after being there since she was 16...36 years!  I was asked to make a book for her, which I said yes, then had to think of a theme.  Well, she likes my chicken cards, the last one she had was framed, so I decided it would be a chicken themed book.

So far all the girls who have signed it have told me they like it...phew!

I have used a mixture of goodies in this.  My Mind's Eye, Crafty Individuals, Stampin Up, Artemio, Penny Black, Tim Holtz, Bazzill, Memento, Papermania, Inkadinkado, WOW embossing powder and of course Snippets!  so off to the Playground I will run!  The flowers on the front were all in my Snippets tin - hurrah!

Thanks for calling by.  Don't forget to call by Elizabeth's for a cuppa.

A Special Journal for a Special Friend!

Hello There

I recently made a very special friend of mine a little RAK and sent it to her in the post as a surprise.  I know she liked it and hope you do too!

I took a piece of leather, backed it with some paper.  Made some signatures and stitched them in by hand with a slight twist.
Yep!  I stitched beads on the spine.

Finished it all off with a leather cord to close the Journal up.

I know my friend liked it and I hope you do.

Have a great weekend.

Scrapbook Tuesday - Debbie's Leaving Book...

Hello Friends

Before I start I would like to say Hi to my two latest followers - Kathy K and I believe Kathleen Schofield. Thank you for choosing to fly with Hettiecraft!

You will recall the other day I showed you a card I made for my good friend Debbie on the occasion of leaving the firm I work for. Click HERE if you haven't seen it. Well, as is the newly found "tradition" of our company, I made a leaving book for her for everyone to sign. I did get told by Debbie, under no uncertain terms, that she wanted a book! So here it is.....

The firm's colours are purple and orange so I could not resist using this as the colour basis to this little book. I used a mixture of TH dies and McGill punches to create the flowers and clock, adding a little rock candy stickles to them. The paper is from one of TH's collections (cannot remember which one though).

As you may see I have used TH, 7 Gypsies, Artistic Outpost, Cavallini, Pink Paisley, Catslife and another make of stamps which I cannot remember. I will edit that in later!

Some little charms to hang off the spine, including TH, a necklace from Primark and an angel charm which my friend brought back from US for me.

All pages were stamped and inked with DI before stamping with Archival.

Back cover.  The covers were cut from a Sizzix die which I have had forever and was a good buy I can tell you!

The book was well received both by colleagues and Debbie herself.

I am entering this into the Artistic Outpost Referral Program as there are lots of AO stamps on this book.

As there are a fair number of Snippets on the front, I shall take this over to the Snippets Playground.  There is a great prize on offer from Miss this week.  Why not join in?

Book Binding...

Hello Folks

I hope you have all had a good weekend and have battened down the hatches ready for this pending storm.  I have shut the Girls in so that they don't get blown away!

I want to share with you a little project I have been working on.  Ever since I made THIS  book with Neil Burley I have wanted to make another journal type book.  So here it is....

I bought some leather from Ebay, cut it to size and rounded the corners.  Then I adhered some paper to the inside.  I cut out some watercolour paper, folded it, marked out the holes in both the paper and leather and then sewed the paper signatures to the cover using waxed linen thread.

The inside paper was bought for me by a non-crafting friend.  Gorgeous isn't it?  It has a lovely shimmer to it.
Here are the inside of each signature of paper.
At the end I threaded some leather cord to tie the book closed.

I have not used my book yet but I am sure I soon will.  This is on I am DEFINITELY keeping!

Have a good week everyone and I truly hope the storm St Jude soon passes without too much upheaval for you all.

All Aboard for the UK...

Hello Friends

I hope you are all having a wonderful weekend.  I am attending an Area Day with some Quilting Buddies today and then a Dance in Swansea so busy as usual.

I thought I would share something with you that I made for my Buddy who visited us earlier this week......

Yep.  My Tim Holtz Suitcase die came out and I made a little Travel Journal for Kim to use when she came over, though I believe she is going to fill it in when she gets home in her bestest handwriting!  The main part of the book is chipboard covered in paper, inked and stamped.  The fittings are Snippets of Grungeboard.
I used a real maps of the UK which I took out of a book bought at the cheap book store.  A little pocket for bits n pieces.
Stamped pages...
Tabs and tags to fit in more pockets...
Most stamps are from Artistic Outpost....my goto stamps, as well as a few Tim Holtz ones.
The paper comes from two collections of Papermania.
All bound with my Bind it all and decked with Snippets of ribbon in the chosen colour scheme of red, white and blue.
Some lickle trinkets which I have collected over the years. I thought the brollie was apt for the British Weather!

I am hoping I can get under the wire at the Snippets Playground as there are a few small Snippets in there.  I am also entering it into the Artistic Outpost Referral - Anything Goes - wish me luck!
Thanks for popping by.  Have a great weekend y'all.

Tuesday Scrapbook - Autograph anyone?

Hello Friends

Welcome to my blog today.  Thanks for popping in.  Why don't you pull up a chair, grab a cuppa and have a lickle peek at what I have to show you today.  It is not exactly a scrapbook per se but it could be if you put photos in it!

One of my colleagues at work was leaving the firm and rather last minuteish I was asked if I would be kind enough to make a card for him.  Eeek!  The usual thing we do is to buy a large card so there is room for everyone to sign.   This posed difficulties as to what card to use, before I even thought of what I could put on the front.  I just knew that due to his love of old motorbikes and cars that I would be using my Artistic Outpost stamps but how? was the question!  Is there any law that says it has to be a card?  Nope!  So I made a mini book with pages for everyone to sign and pop their messages in......

I covered a piece of chipboard with TH paper and then ran it through the B/S with a Sizzix card die in, and then cut through the fold so I had two covers.  I then stamped the covers with Dieselpunk images from AO before adding the Clock die from TH, cut from grungeboard, as were the arrows.

Into the inside and more images, as well as some from Paperartsy and a Good Luck! message.
Then I cut some pages from cream cardstock using tabs which I had cut too many of for another project which were in my Snippets tin.  I stamped each page with Antique Linen DI using a Paperartsy clock stamp and used images from AO.  I used Gathered Twigs DI for the rest of the inking - still  my favourite!

I just love this image!!!
This quote is quite funny - Richard is around 6' 6" so stands out in Wales!!

More images on the back cover.
Inside back cover.  Well you should sign your art somewhere!  The Best Wishes was from a Papermania set which is VOS.

I shall be entering this into the Artistic Outpost Referral Scheme as well as the Playground as there are lots of Snippets included.

Thanks for peeping and I look forward to reading your comments.  I think this would make a great mini album and in fact I have Hubby's anniversary in mind for this!
