Under The Sea...

Hello there

Last year I made one of my Stencil cards HERE for my friend for her birthday.  That started it!  Rachel started to ask me about the stencils and how-tos and I sent her to Sweet Poppy Stencils to have a look.at the stencils available.

Rather than let Rachel buy all the equipment I invited her up to my Craft Room over we had an enjoyable evening of pizza and stencils and fun!  Rachel was smitten!  Rachel ordered some paste and other paraphernalia the next day and kindly bought me a stencil to say "thanks". I am not sure her Hubby feels the same way.

Well whilst the equipment was out so I set to and made a card for my friend's daughter.  I was told quite categorically that she is no longer into "cute" so I hoped this didn't fall into the "cute" category!

I made the background by smooshing some DIs onto my craft mat (Mowed Lawn, Broken China, salty ocean) and then added some water and dipped a piece of watercolour paper in, dried it and then dipped again.  I had a tag handy so dipped that with the leftovers.  Once it was dried (and ironed) I stamped my Ryn stamp that Miss Di had sent to me some time ago, with Memento ink.  I also stamped the corners with Cavallini stamps in the same DIs used.

Then came the fun bit.  I used my new stencil and Pearl embossing paste and left it overnight to dry
I stamped both sides of the card using some TH stamps and my Ryn stamp.
I found a tiny piece of paper that was enclosed in a papercraft magazine many many many years ago that was the perfect colour aka a Snippet.  I die cut a silver edge die, layered it and hey presto, my card was born.  And it passed muster so it isn't "cute"! Phew!!

Thanks for calling by.  Off down to the Snippets Playground to share this.

Butterflies and Flowers....Inspired by Pinterest

Hello Peeps

I hope you have had, or are still having a lovely weekend.  I have been doing a mixture of housework and craftwork today!  Unfortunately more house than craft!

Today I wanted to share a card that I was inspired by Pinterest to make.  I hope you like.....

Unfortunately I took the photo under electric light and not quite square on but I am sure you can get the effect of it.  I haven't made it for any other reason than I fancied making it and as it contains two flowers and butterflies I can join in with Mrs A's Butterflies Challenge and also take it to the Snippets Playground.  I fancy a green version now.  The inside has been left blank as I don't know who or what it is for yet, though I did put another butterfly in there.

To get the orange strip I used Mustard Seed, Ripe Persimmon, Rusty Hinge and Fired Brick DIs and all the black stamping was with Memento.  The double layered butterfly on the left was made using Snippets so I am off over to the Playground to see what mischief is occurring over there.

Have a good week everyone.

Scrapbook Tuesday - Debbie's Leaving Book...

Hello Friends

Before I start I would like to say Hi to my two latest followers - Kathy K and I believe Kathleen Schofield. Thank you for choosing to fly with Hettiecraft!

You will recall the other day I showed you a card I made for my good friend Debbie on the occasion of leaving the firm I work for. Click HERE if you haven't seen it. Well, as is the newly found "tradition" of our company, I made a leaving book for her for everyone to sign. I did get told by Debbie, under no uncertain terms, that she wanted a book! So here it is.....

The firm's colours are purple and orange so I could not resist using this as the colour basis to this little book. I used a mixture of TH dies and McGill punches to create the flowers and clock, adding a little rock candy stickles to them. The paper is from one of TH's collections (cannot remember which one though).

As you may see I have used TH, 7 Gypsies, Artistic Outpost, Cavallini, Pink Paisley, Catslife and another make of stamps which I cannot remember. I will edit that in later!

Some little charms to hang off the spine, including TH, a necklace from Primark and an angel charm which my friend brought back from US for me.

All pages were stamped and inked with DI before stamping with Archival.

Back cover.  The covers were cut from a Sizzix die which I have had forever and was a good buy I can tell you!

The book was well received both by colleagues and Debbie herself.

I am entering this into the Artistic Outpost Referral Program as there are lots of AO stamps on this book.

As there are a fair number of Snippets on the front, I shall take this over to the Snippets Playground.  There is a great prize on offer from Miss this week.  Why not join in?

Fishey Wishes

Hello Buddies

What a change in the weather we have had today from the last few!  Gorgeous most of the day.  Just as well as I was lucky enough to meet up with two of my lovely Playground Buddies, Miss Di and ScrappyMo, today for a little chop at Flutterbys then a walk around Highclere.  Had to be on my best behaviour with Miss on account of a lot of potential naughty steps or a clip around the ear!  It was a fabulous day and thank you Ladies.

A few weeks whilst I had my Sweet Poppy stencils out I grabbed some other stencils that were in my collection and played, including this fishey stencil.  Though I did not quite know what I was going to do with them, I just left them on my desk until I had a fort! Yes it hurt!

Miss Di was kind enough to send me a Ryn stamp and had a Eureka moment one day when I was finking how I could use it.  So I inked a piece of card with my DIs and spritzed with water before drying.  I got my Cavallini stamps and stamped a background using AIs.
I then took my NBIS Ryn stamp and stamped the background, with first and second generation stampings.  Distressed the edges and inked before mounting them onto Snippet background piece sand then mounting onto VOS cards.  A little TH tag with some fluff and then I 3D mounted the fishies onto the card.

I shall be popping these over to the Playground.  You will find me resting in the hammock. Zzzzzzz.

I would also like to Welcome Sue, Di and Sandy for becoming my latest Followers.  It makes me have a warm fuzzy feeling when I have new followers so Thank You.

Hugs

CC2C - Spritz and Flick Distress

Hello Fellow Bloggers

The Lovely Linda over at Studio L3 has asked this week to see our Spritz and Flick Distress technique (try saying that when you have had a few!) which can be found on page 42 of the new Compendium of Curiosities II book by Mr Tim Holtz.  This week the lovely guys at Simon Says Stamp are sponsoring the Challenge with a chance to win $25 worth of vouchers.  I have just realised this is Challenge no. 13 - maybe I will be lucky!

Here is my take on the subject...

I got an idea into my head of numbers.  How they surround every little aspect of our lives and how many stamps/stamp sets I have which have numbers in them.

I have to say though that I never seem to be able to do this technique like the Man himself can.  Let me show you what I mean...

You see, when I flick I tend to only get little droplets and not the lovely big droppers that you see Mr Holtz achieve.  However, undeterred I decided to try a different way of playing with the water to see if I could improve it, and I think I have managed it a little better in this piece......

What I did was to let the water seep through my fingers and then give a little shake to my hand and it gave much bigger droplets.

And so as not to waste the piece of card I had just inked up I decided to turn it into a card.

As well as Linda's Challenge I am also entering the card into these Challenges too:-

Snippets with Di - all papers are from the (recently sorted) Snippets box
Craft Hazelnut - wants to see stars this week.

Thanks for popping over and please do not forget to leave me a comment.
