Flower pots...

Hello Friends

Please forgive me for not being around much these last few days, but Hubby and I took a little break up to the beautiful city of York for our Wedding Anniversary.  I have to say that this is one of my favourite UK cities.  It is beautiful and compact as well as being absolutely steeped in history and intrigue.  The people are pretty friendly too - as are most Yorkshire peeps!

So today I am going to share with you a few cards I made recently.  The first for my parents for their anniversary which was a week or so ago, the second for my Boss on her birthday and the other for my tin...
A flower pot of pretty paper flowers.  They will hopefully last a little longer if they do not go through the postal system too!
The top layer of flowers lift with a little card so you can write your message on.

Here is my boss' which she liked enough to take home.  She was quite shocked to find I had made it for her too!
The yellow one is in my tin for another recipient and so I have not put any sentiment in/on it.  I was able to cut some stands on my Silhouette for them to stand on instead of relying on there being something to lean them on.

Of course these have all been made using Snippets, with various punches and dies, as well as liquid pearls and small pearls which I am trying to use up.  You know the ones where you get a sheet out only to find 4 or 5 on there!

Of course I shall pop these down to the Snippets Playground.  Is it just me or do those pesky lickle snippets breed when they are in the drawer?  The more I use the more I get!!

Before I go, I just want to say Hello and Thanks to my latest followers!

Teddy Banner

Hello Friends

Just a quick posting today.  I had my SU punch out recently to make a banner for someone and whilst rummaging through the Snippets box I came across this green cardstock so I married it up with the red, cut a mount with my Spellbinders and cut Teddy which was already coloured in, with the same die.  I used another of those VOS cards and hey presto a quick and easy Birthday card for a little boy I know who's birthday is very soon.

I shall take this down to the Playground, where I suspect Miss will be telling us all of her adventure yesterday.

Hugs

Scrapbooking Tuesday - One Fine Day...

Hello Blogging Friends

I hope you have all had a wonderful Bank Holiday weekend.  Wasn't it nice to see a bit of sun again?   Unfortunately I was a poorly bunny at the start of the weekend but have now rallied around just in time to go back to work!

You know I recently told you that April is a busy month for me Birthday wise?  Well, one of the Special Birthdays was Mr Hettie's and as usual I made him something daft for his Birthday, and I thought I would share it with you today as it is a Mini Scrapbook.  You might want to make a cuppa or get a glass of something as this is a little picture heavy!

The cover was made using a heavyweight chip board which I painted with some red emulsion, before stamping with Black Soot DI and also rubbing some BS DI over the surface.
I used my trusty BIA to bind the whole book together and added some Snippets of ribbon and two small charms.  The saw is a hint of what is to come!

The main papers used are some We Are Memory Keepers papers which I bought ages ago with an album, that I had quite forgotten about, as well as some Snippets from my Snippets boxes.  I turned to my Diesel Punk, Think and Wonder and Lovely Day Artistic Outpost stamps for stampings.  I also used my new Inkylicious Splodge stamp to look like oil blobs!

The arrows and other embellishments were cut using various Sizzix dies.  Zips from my sewing box for extra layers.  Yes this is yours truly!!  These photos were taken in the early 1990s!!
Those car stickers I have had forever.  I also doodled on all the pages.  Added some pearls, buttons, sparklies, and brads.
This piece of punched ribbon was made for my Christmas Album!  Tee Hee!
Please excuse the pun.......
Some Martha Stewart punchings..
These little glasses were a broach which comes from when I used to work for an opticians....1986-1989!  Talk about hanging on to things "just in case"!
And here is Sputnik casting an eye over the project!
The little white printed arrows came from Wilkinsons and are like post-its! I knew they would come in handy at some point!
Some Czech stickers we bought on one of our trips.

And here is the back cover with a car sticker.  Fortunately we had two so Mr Hettie didn't mind too much!

I hope you enjoyed my Mini Album for Mr Hettie.  I shall be popping it over to the Playground as there are sooo many Snippets in there.  I shall also be putting it into the Artistic Outpost Challenge as I have used my AO stamps.

Have a good week everyone.

Hugs

Scrapbook Tuesday - Oh Megan (or should that be Pig-pen)!

Hello Friends

Tuesday is here and so I am sharing my latest layout with you.  It is a photograph which I have been wanting to scrapbook for ages now but have never been quite sure how to do.  So I was wandering around Basic Grey's blog (well the cardstock is Basic Grey) and I came across a layout which they suggested you "scraplift".  I liked the concept so here is my version.....

Not content with cutting papers up from my stash I took one of my Snippets boxes and just kept pulling papers out until I found a piece that would tie in with the colours in the photo, then I ran them through my Big Shot using a Sizzix die.  Once I had cut about 40 hearts I took them over to my desk and sat down and procraftinated, using the camera to ensure I did not have too many darks/lights congregating together. (In case you don't know what I mean by "using the camera", if you point your camera at your work you can get a better idea of the depth of colour through either the viewfinder or on the screen on the camera.  A great tool for quilting too!)
The photo is of my youngest Niece at Llangranog Beach just weeks before she was to be my bridesmaid!  We refer to this photo as the Pig-Pen photo and it makes me smile every time I look at it.  She really does look "Pleased as Punch"!
As you can see I got my trusty sewing machine out (though the lines are not perfectly straight but neither is the beach!).  The hearts are not stuck down so that some of them have slightly curved which is what I wanted it to do.  I would hate to hazard a guess as to what makes of papers I have used, but they are all Snippets from past layouts and cards.  Even the distressed doily was cut for something else, not use, turned over as I had inked the other side and then used!

Now for another photo of Amsterdam.....what Holland is most famous for....tulips!!

Beautiful colours on a quite dull day.  It is interesting to see the price of them there €12.50 for 50 tulips - that would be about £12.50 for 20 here!  The exchange rate is currently around €1 = £1!!

Thanks for calling by.  Please leave me a comment so I know you have been.  Hope you like my layout today!  Off to show my layout to the girls in the Playground!  Anyone got any flumps today?

Scrapbook Layout - Meet Harry

Hello Peeps

Well, after introducing you to my Angel the other day (click HERE if you didn't see her), I thought I would introduce you to my Grandfather from my Mum's side.  This is Harry, my Mum's Father.  Born in Yorkshire in 1904, the family moved firstly to Cardiff and then Newport (South Wales).  We are not sure when exactly only that it was during the First World War.  Maybe in about 2021 I will have a bit more information ey?

This photo was taken in 1925 prior to Harry's 21st birthday.  A bit of a looker don't you think?  In fact, my Uncle, (Harry's son), my Brother and his son, Jack, are scarily close in looks, more so than my cousin Christopher who is direct male descendant.

The layout for this was taken from a sketch on my friend Karen's blog HERE.  Thank you Karen!
The papers are from the K&Company Ancestry range, some Laura Ashley ribbon strip, Bazzill, DCWV and some scraps/snippets would you believe!  The flower has been made using Tim Holtz, Paperartsy and Stampin Up flowers.

The frame is from Stampin Up - Everything Eleanor.  The flourish stamp is also SU.  The numbers are Prima.  Edge punch is Martha Stewart.
Die cuts are Tim Holtz.  Letters are chipboard ones, painted then stamped with the same script stamp (Tim Holtz) and brushed with Perfect Pearls

The journalling block has now been completed with details about Harry (having checked my book).   I hadn't stuck it down when I took the photo, so it isn't wonky now.

Well, now you know a little more of my family history.  As I mentioned above, I have the K&Company Ancestry collection of papers along with album, so I am putting significant family photos in there and keeping every scrap of the paper collection in the box so it doesn't get used!

Well, thank you Karen for this sketch, it is one that can be used time and time again adding to or leaving plain!

Thank you for popping by and looking and I hope you will sign in so I know you have been to see me.
