Just a card...

Hello Friends

Oops!  I was going through my posts and realised I had not shown you this card which I made to send to a very good friend of mine at the beginning of this year.  (I am still wondering what happened to January - it went so quick.) All made from Snippets so I shall be popping it in to the Playground.
Over at the Playground Miss has issued a new challenge which involves a bale of straw and some clippers!  Fancy giving it a go?  Why not just use your Snippets, make something and join in for some fun and frolics in the virtual Playground.  You can even feed the chickens in the chicken run or the ducks on the pond!!  And of course you get a chance to play in the lovely virtual Treehouse!

Friday Funny

Stevie Wonder is  playing his 1st gig in China and the place is packed to the  rafters.

In a bid to break the ice he asks if anyone has a request.

One  chap jumps out of his seat in the 1st row and shouts at the top of  his voice "Play  a jazz chord! Play a jazz chord!"

Amazed that this guy
knows about the jazz influences in Stevie's career, the impresario starts to play an E minor scale and then goes into a difficult jazz melody for about 10 minutes.   When he finishes the  whole place goes wild.

The chap jumps out of  his seat again and shouts  "No,  no, play a jazz chord, play a jazz  chord".

A bit cheesed off by  this, Stevie, being the professional that he is, dives straight in  to a jazz improvisation with his band around the B flat minor chord and really tears the place  apart.

The  crowd goes ballistic with this impromptu show of his musical  expertise.

But, still the little  Chinese man jumps up again and shouts  "No,  no. Play a jazz chord, play a jazz  chord".

Stevie is really  annoyed now that this chap doesn't seem to appreciate his playing  ability and shouts to him from the stage  " OK -  smart arse, you get up here and do  it".

The little bloke  climbs onto the stage, takes hold of the mike and starts to  sing............

"A  jazz chord to say, I ruv you...  "

Don’t worry I will give you time to sing this line!!!

Twinchies II - Made Up

Hello Friends

Do you remember the Snippets I made HERE?  Well, this is what I did with them!  Gathered up some Snippets, stamped some backgrounds, used my new Sizzix dies that "fell" into my basket when going on a Santa's Elf trip to Hobbycraft to buy a Big Shot for my friend for Christmas on behalf of her Hubby!   Well, I did have a 25% off voucher so it would have been so rude not to have used it! I also bought two other sets for both Lesley and Mandy and boy did they nearly not get them!!

Four cards made ready to send to various peeps!   The sentiment is Hero Arts.

Thanks for popping by.  It is nearly the weekend! Yeay!!!  Got anything nice planned?   I can hardly believe it is the end of the first month of 2013 - whereditgo?!!

Ooooo! New Spellbinders die!

Hello Friends

Just a quick post today to show you a lovely new Spellbinders die that I took delivery of the other day.  It just "fell" into my shopping basket!  Honest!!

The Penny Black image was in my box waiting to be coloured in and I adhered some micro beads to the centres with glossy accents.  I had to rifle through my Christmas Snippet box to get the gold cardstock, but I do like it and the recipient liked it too!

Happy Hump Day!  Downhill now to Friday :-D

Pivo O'Clock - Scrapbooking Tuesday

Hello Friends

Well would you believe, I was having a tidy up in my room, when I came across a photograph of Hubby on our first Christmas trip to Prague?  Should I put it back in a box, (not with all the other photos of the same trip as it would take too long), but in a box with mixed photos?  Or should I scrapbook it?  Well I think you can guess which option I chose, or you wouldn't be seeing a layout below!!

So I started with a sheet of plain cardstock and I took some acrylic paints and various paintbrushes and even a toothbrush and flicked some black and gold paint over the card.  Leaving this to dry I carried on with the rest of the elements.  The swirly piece is half of a shaped page being used as a template, cut out of Kaisercraft and then mounted on a piece of green co-ordinations cardstock and trimmed to about 1/4-1/8th inch. I then took some Technique Tuesday stamps and stamped with Black Soot DI.
The large rectangular piece was made one evening when I had a video clip of Donna Arkle playing with spray inks and a glass of wine on the go!  I created several sheets of sprayed paper and this is one of them.  I did not have any plain white/cream 12x12 at the time so I followed Donna and used the backs of some papers I did not particularly like! I have mounted this on to more of the green cardstock.   The clock is one of my new stamps which I won on the FB CC101 challenge.  Love those TPC Studios stamps!  The rosette was left over from my Christmas Tree projects.

The layered piece was made using a mixture of EK Success punchouts and Tim Holtz Lace die cuts.  The text was cut using my Cricut (not sure what font but if you want to know I can tell you - though there was chocolate involved!).
The clock is a Tim Holtz of course!  Die cut using a scrap of chipboard, painted and then waxed with Treasure Gold.  A little TH embellishment and the Remember is another TPC Stamp.  The Ironwork stamps are all Technique Tuesday stamps and the large corners were double stamped with Black Soot DI and bronze Distress Stain .
The top part of the layered square was stamped with Wendy Vecchi stamp with a mixture of TT and TH stamps.
Look at those glasses - they look huge now but were all the rage back in 2000!!  Tee Hee!

Hope you like and thanks for popping over.  If there is anything else you want to know please do not hesitate to ask.

PS  Why Pivo O'clock?  In Prague it is always time for a beer!  It is one of our little sayings! As well as "It is 5 o'clock somewhere!" or my favourite "Is it Baileys time?"

Rudolph Day - First of 2013

Hello Friends

Do you remember last year I joined in with my friend Sandra of Stamping for Pleasure  to celebrate Rudolph Day on the 25th of each month?  Well, I am joining in again this year in order to ensure I get ahead and have Christmas cards ready in time for the Big Day!!  So here are the first two cards which I have made and I have four more similar cards cut out ready to rock'n'roll.

You may recognise the stamps as being from the lovely Sheena Douglass set which I was lucky enough to win in the Playground draw! Thank you Di, they are gorgeous.  Lots of potential and I am having great fun playing with them!

I inked up backgrounds using Pine Needles, Seedles Preserves, Gathered Twigs and Festive Berries Distress Inks.  I spritzed and flicked with some water and once dried I inked the border ivy stamp with Archival ink, stamped down the side of each piece and embossed the image with clear embossing powder.  I thank made teeny tiny "berries" with liquid pearls.

For the main image, again using Archival ink, I stamped the large mistletoe image onto cardstock and embossed the image with clear embossing powder.  I coloured the leaves and stems with a mixture of Copic markers and Distress Markers.  I cut around the mistletoe image but felt the background was too white.  So using distress inks I "washed" the backgrounds using a water pen.  I cut the gold/silver background using my Spellbinders die, punched my new EK Success punch, inked the SU tag and stamped with the sentiment which was in the SD set.  Plenty of Snippets used on these cards!

For those of you who know I go dancing on Wednesday evenings, I thought I would let you see how I celebrated Burns Night last night!  Dancing a Seann Triubhas in front of a packed room (about 100 guests) and an old friend Archie piped for me!  This was the first time I have had the crowd clapping to time and a standing ovation!!

Sorry it the photo is not quite in perfect focus but I kept moving!!

Tee Hee!

Friday Funny on Saturday

FIFTY SHADES OF CHOCOLATE

Mr Cadbury met Miss Rowntree on a Double Decker.
It was just After Eight.
They got off at Quality Street .
He asked her name. ‘Polo, I’m the one with the hole’ she said with a Wispa.
… … ‘I’m Marathon , the one with the nuts’ he replied.
He touched her Cream Eggs, which was a Kinder Surprise for her.
Then he slipped his hand into her Snickers, which made her Ripple.
He fondled her Jelly Babies and she rubbed his Tic Tacs.
Soon they were Heart Throbs.
It was a Fab moment as she screamed in Turkish Delight.
But, 3 days later, his Sherbet Dip Dab started to itch.
Turns out Miss Rowntree had been with Bertie Bassett and he had Allsorts!

I could not resist sharing this one with you today!!
