Friday Smiles

Hello there

Gosh it has been a whole week since I last posted on here!  Some of you will not know, but Hubby and I had a car accident last week, whereby we were "t-boned" by another car (hit directly on the passenger side).  Unfortunately I was the passenger.  We were both pretty shaken up and the car is an absolute right off.  I had an unceremonious exit from the car through the tail gate as it was feared that I had spinal injuries.  Fortunately I have sustained heavy bruising down my left side (legs, arm, wrist) a very nasty bruise on my right shoulder where Hubby hit me, and extremely painful bruising to my ribs.  I never realised until this week how much my ribs were connected to everything else in my body and would hurt doing anything....I mean ANYthing!!

So as you can imagine I have found it pretty hard to find much to smile about this week!  However, I have come downstairs this morning, having spent most of the night coughing, which is not nice at all to find some beautiful flowers that my Dad has sent me,with a message in there that made me shed a tear.  There was also a small package of a kind gift and card from two very special people.....

I loves ya guys.  You know who you are!!

Off to join in with Annie's Friday Smiles!!

I hope you don't mind but I shared you as one of my Friday smiles too....not that you'd had an accident but that thankfully you were alive and healing. I really hope you continue making good progress and your arnica helps to bring the bruises out ;-)
Biggest gentle hugs.

I read about the accident on Annie's blog and for some reason, thought you had to be brought out with the jaws of life. I'm simply thrilled you are going to be OK. Yes, you have no idea how many muscles and tissue hurts when you are in a wreck until a day or so afterward.

Those flowers and cards would certainly make ME smile, so please get better soon!

Oh Hettie, what a horror of a thing to happen to you. I am so glad you managed to escape with relatively minor damage.A car accident takes a while to recover from. My thoughts are with you.

That sounds pretty horrendous! But you are alive and not seriously injured. I do realize that you must feel awful. The ribs are used for breathing and every breath hurts. Do try and take a deep breath every now and then to avoid pneumonia, but I'm sure your doctor or physio will have told you that.
I send lots of positive thoughts, virtual hugs and serious prayer for your healing.
Hugs, hugs, hugs,
Lisca

I read about your accident on Annie's blog today. I'm so sorry to hear about the accident and so glad you were not more seriously damaged. That's not dismissing the pain you are most certainly suffering. It will take a while for you both. Goodness you really have been going through it. What beautiful flowers from you dear Dad.

Big Hugs,
Barbxx

Hi Sam,
oh my gosh I am so sorry to hear of your car accident.
Thank goodness it wasn't more serious.
I can quite guess who the lovely friends were.
You take care and take it easy for a while, and I'm not surprised you don't want a Friday smiles.
I often tell a good blog friend that I'm gong to wave my magic wand for her so I'll do the same for you to try and help as you need some good luck.
She calls me her fairy godmother now. LOL.
Lots of crafty get well wishes, and love not hugs as they might hurt. Jenny L.

Hi Hettie, Annie told us and although I am sure you are very uncomfortable I had to smile when she said you had no broken bones, you are so lucky to have got away without far more serious injury.
So I am sending you the biggest but most gentle hugs my friend.

Sam I am so sorry about the accident. I have been out of circulation a bit later and when I saw a post about a Sam in an accident I didn't make the connection. You are 'Hettie' to me, not Sam! It sounds pretty horrific but I am glad to hear it is severe bruising rather than broken bones. You have my sympathy. One broken rib makes coughing a painful event. Rest lots (I don't suppose you can do anything else right now), and take courage from knowing that friends from all over the world are holding you both in their hearts and prayers. Smiles not hugs today!. Kate x

A very thoughtful gift - having seen the pic of the car on FB I can fully understand why you are in such pain - hope the bruising goes down quickly and you get back on track soon. You are fortunate not to have been more seriously hurt. Have been in an accident once (not as bad as yours, although again the car was a right off) - it's very unsettling. Sending gentle hugs. xx

One day at a time Sam! And it's true, sore ribs are absolute agony - just don't catch a cold while they're still sore!

Love and hugs

Hope you feel a bit of relief soon.I think a few visits to masage therapy will be predicted nce you are feeling strong enough and the bruises are faded. Massage really helps you after a major trauma like that.

Hope your husband to feeling stronger...sounds like you took the brunt of it.
If one of you is a little better than the other (simon, Hopefully) then you can lean on him a bit to lessen the load on you.

Over here, after a major accident like that, the insurance company will pay for household help to come in once or maybe twice a week. Just someone to do the heavy things like floors, hoovering, cleaning bathrooms, etc. That helps your recover when your muscles are so sore. Why not check it out and see if there is a scheme like that for you.

Praying for a speedy recoveru...hope your pain lessons soon...

Hugs

I spose I should say that it could have been so much worse with you being dead and what not, but that sure as hell doesn't make it hurt any less when you're as bruised and banged up as you are. We do so take our ribs for granted, don't we!! You are in my prayers, Sam, for a full and speedy recovery! Thanks for the visit!! Hugs, Darnell

Well, for starters, the ribs mean it will hurt every time you breathe... so that's pretty comprehensive to begin with. It sounds really traumatic, and while I'm profoundly relieved that the physical injuries weren't worse, I know from when Cestina was involved in a RTA that the effects can continue to hit in aftershocks. So be kind to yourself - and I'm happy to see that others are also being kind - beautiful flowers and such thoughtful cards and Arnica!

OMGosh Sam, I'm so sorry to hear that you were in an accident! I am however grateful that you are only banged up and not worse. I know it is hard to be grateful for small blessings when you feel like you do. I cracked my ribs leaning over an arm on a chair while making cards last summer, yes they hurt and take quite a while to heal. And yes, you can't do anything that it doesn't make them hurt. So best try to rest and let your body heal. Your flowers and cards are just beautiful Sam, I'm glad they put a smile on your face. I've never heard of the stuff for bruising, but sure could use it myself. lol I bruise so easy. Please rest up Sam and get well soon, I'm thinking your sweet mother was your guardian angel in this accident!!! Hugs, Brenda
