Happy Birthday Big Brother...

Hello Peeps

Well!  What a day it has been!!  Wasn't the Wimbledon Final fantastic and nerve wracking?  Well done Andy!!

Straight to the chaste, today I am sharing you a card I made for my big Brother recently....

He is a bit of a speed freak and loves to tinker with cars and/or bikes, so I used my Artistic Outpost stamps to make him a card.  The background is one of those pieces from my spray box which I blotted up my stencils on in a recent project.  I then ran it through an embossing folder which I then rubbed over with Treasured Gold.

I stamped the images with Archival ink, and embossed with embossing powder, coloured the driver using DI and a water brush, made a tag using an old London map and a Snippet of ribbon and them mounted all the elements onto the card.  Inside I stamped the sentiment "never drive faster than your Guardian Angel can fly".  The edges of the card were distressed and hey presto his card was done.  He actually text me to tell me how much he liked the card!!!  Wow!!

I am taking this down to the Playground as there are Snippets used in here as well as the Artistic Outpost blog.

Thanks for calling by and have a good week!  Whatever you do, don't forget to use the suncream.

Friday funny

Don't eat turkey sandwiches, no matter what!!

A little boy and a little girl attended the same school and became friends.

Every day they would sit together to eat their lunch.

They discovered that they both brought turkey sandwiches every day!

This went on all through the fourth and fifth grades, until one day he noticed that her sandwich wasn't a turkey sandwich.

He said, 'Hey, how come you're not eating turkey, don't you like it anymore?'

She said 'I love it but I have to stop eating it.'

'Why?' he asked.

She pointed to her lap and said 'Cause I'm starting to grow little feathers down there!''Let me see' he said.
'Okay' and she showed him.

He looked and said, 'That's right. You are! Better not eat any more turkey.'He kept eating his turkey sandwiches until one day he brought a peanut butter sandwich instead.

He said to the little girl, 'I have to stop eating turkey sandwiches, I'm starting to get feathers down there too!'
She asked if she could look, so he showed her!

She said, 'Oh, my God, it's too late for you!  You've already got the NECK and Giblets!!!

WOYWW 213 or maybe 214 - Wednesday Already?

Hello Peeps

Welcome to another grey day here on Planet Earth, in the season of Summer.  Not all Summers are the same on this Planet you are at right now, but this is getting kinda typical in the UK especially during Wimbledon fortnight!   Come on Andy!

As it is customary on Wednesday's, alot of bloggers do this mad thing of taking a picture of their desk, wherever that may be and congregate around the blog of a certain Miss Julia to share what is going on at our desks.  Here is mine....

Yep!  It is clear!  You don't see that very often now do you?  You see I was working hard on a certain gift for a Birthday Girl and hastily put all evidence away before taking a photo as I don't want her to see it.  It will be late arriving (much like our summer) but I hope that when it arrives, I will be forgiven.  I have been laid low with a nasty chesty infection which put me out on things!  Damn it!  But I am feeling muchas betterer now thank you!

I will show you something else I have made recently.....

Click HERE if you want to see more.

And finally, trying to keep it brief here Miss, I wanted to share my WOYWW ATC which I received from Deeyll who was my PIFfer!  Isn't it gorgeous?  It came all beautifully packaged and with some ribbons in there.  I used some on the layout above too!

Right.  Better go and get showered and off to work.  I shall catch up with you all later Guys and Gals!

TTFN and don't forget to shoot over to Miss Julia's desk to take part in the biggest blog hop here on Planet Earth!

Hugs

Scrapbooking Tuesday - Bring me Sunshine

Hello Friends

Welcome to another Tuesday here on Planet Earth.  As I usually try to achieve on a Tuesday, I have some scrapbooking which I would like to share with you.

This layout came about due to Mr Hettie's Godfather visiting my MIL and bringing with him a shoebox full of old photos that he had and wanted MIL to tell him, if she could, who some of the people were.  Mr Godfather's parents and most of his older members of the family having now passed away, he wanted to know before it was too late. MIL sent the photos over with Mr Hettie for me to see as she knew I would be interested, and in there was this photo......

It was taken at Mr Hettie's cousin's wedding in August 1990.  I had never seen it before.  On seeing it I could not help but sing "Bring Me Sunshine" to myself and new I had to sit down and scrap it.  So here is what I did.......

Having cropped the photo and changing it to black and white I pulled out some of my MME The Sweetest Thing papers (must get myself another set of these as I love them so much), some Bo Bunny papers and Echo Park.  I used my TH rosette die and made some "sunflowers" and pulled out yellow and orange flowers.  Then came the procraftinating!

This large yellow flower is the last of a collection that my friend brought home from France for me - Boo hoo!.  The large orange one is a Bazzill one that has been in my stash for years and years........  the paper ones are various makes.  Who could resist using a Giggle tag.
I stencilled using some Glimmer Mist sprays and Gathered Twigs DI.  Another Distressed Doily cut out.  The bling swirlies I bought in Cornwall about 4-5 years ago and have been waiting to use them on a "special" project.
I liked and kept the dash of pink flowers on the paper without covering them as the colour theme was dusky pink.  A clock to show the passage of time, cut using Snippets, some more misting with stencil and another sunflower.
I just love this little fairy house.  It was a mould I bought on a well known auction site, and I used some Martha Stewart paper clay in there for the first time.  It is great stuff and so lightweight.  Takes DI great, with a little Treasured Gold on the top.  The paper says "One of a kind" so I altered it to Two of a kind!  This flower ribbon was in with my ATC from my PIF sender.  Gorgeous isn't it?  You can also see some stamping I have done using a TH and Penny Black stamp.

I cut the letters for the main word using the Echo Park paper and added orange stickles over the top.  The word "bring" was stamped on a near to hand Snippet.  "Me" was on the back of the Echo Park paper.  I stamped the bees on some more Snippets and coloured them in using Copics and stickles.

Thanks for calling by.  I shall be showing this off in the Playground if you would care to call by and see it!  I am also going to enter this into Simon Says Stamp as the theme is "Anything Goes"!  My lovely friend Alison has just told me I can enter this into Our Creative Corner too!  This is a new Challenge for me so wish me luck!

Happy Stamping....

Hello Friends

Welcome to July!!  Let us hope this good weather we are currently experiencing remains for a while longer this time round.

I wanted to share a card I made recently for one of the girls in the office.  Very simple (for me anyhoo!) but I liked it and so did the recipient.

I took a piece of cardstock (some invitations that my Boss had made and I am now recycling - great cardstock and it seemed a shame to waste them!), inked my Paperartsy flower up with Bundled Sage Distress Ink.  Stamped it twice  (without reinking) and then stamped it again (without cleaning it - disgraceful) with black Archival ink.  I then distressed the edge, before mounting it on to a Snippet of green cardstock and placing on to card.  I punched another darker green snippet with the corner punch and adhered it on to the corner.  A sentiment from MME from years ago and just added some sparklies to the cornerpiece, a MS butterfly and hey presto my card was done.

I have to tell you about the corner punch I used for this.  It is rather large (about 5" square) and rather heavy.  It was a steal at the NEC craft show in November so it had to come home with me.  The only problem is I don't have enough oomph to press the top down enough so I have to place the card into it, place the punch very carefully on the floor upside down, without disturbing the cardstock, then step onto the punch with one foot and carefully balance myself in order to put my whole weight onto it!  Hubby thought it hilarious to find me balancing on it one day in my room!! I was only cutting bazzill cardstock and so not that thick cardstock!  No wonder it was only £4!!!  I do still like it though!!

Right, now I have given you a funny image, I shall leave you to go play in the Playground.   I have noticed that since I have been poorly things are a little too quiet in there.  Someone is up to mischief I think!!

Tally ho!!

Rudolph Day June 2013

Hello Peeps

You did not really think I would pass June's Rudolph Day now did you?  Of course not.  Just because I have been a little under the weather, I would not miss my Buddy Sandra's Challenge for the world.

As I have been feeling a little better over the last two days, I have taken the chance to have a little play with a new Sweet Poppy Stencil I was lucky enough to receive for my recent Birthday from my Buddy Mandy, another stencil which I have had for ages and one that was until this week, still in it's packet. So prepare to be dazzled....

This first card has been made using the Sweet Poppy stencil, pearl paste and Martha Stewart glitter in white.  I simply layered it on to some silver card added some snow balls, popped a SU punched label which had been stamped with Hero Arts stamp and some Spellbinders snowflakes, which I bought courtesy of another birthday gift of vouchers for our local craft shop.  I have been fancying this die set for ages.  I needed a decent snowflake die/punch and so this was perfick for me.

This card is made using an old Country Stencils stencil which until now I have only used with an embossing tool (do you remember that technique?).  The embossing paste has opened up a whole new way of using this stencil and I am loving it.  Again, I used MS glitter in pewter,  and layered using Snippets and punching the opposite corners with a MS punch.  Some brads and another SU punch and hey presto another card.

Now the final one I am showing you today is made using a Dreamweaver stencil I bought in a sale absolutely ages ago, and until now has been sitting in my drawer unused.  Again I used MS glitter in gold, some Stickles in the centre, layered onto a Snippet of velum which was the perfick size, the Merry Christmas was part of a set that had been loitering in a box for ever and a little bit of ribbon tied around to tie the green in.

I just wish I could capture the shimmer of the glitter on these cards for you to see.  The June sunshine doesn't quite capture it unfortunately.

I have some more pieces which I made using the stencils, but unfortunately I have not yet made them into cards, but will do so very shortly and of course, I will share with you.

Thanks for calling by.  The sun is out today so I shall be over at the Playground if anyone wants to play on the swings with me?  Also, I just want to say thanks to you all for your well wishes.  This chesty infection really was a nasty one but I am getting much better now.

Hugs

Friday Funny

Paddy took two stuffed dogs to the Antiques Roadshow.

"Ooh!" said the presenter, "This is a very rare set, produced by the celebrated Johns Brothers' taxidermists who operated in London at the turn of last century.

Do you have any idea what they would fetch if they were in good condition?"

"Sticks?" Paddy said.
