Mummy and Daddy's Diamond Anniversary

Hello my Lovelies!

 

My Wonderful parents celebrated their 60th Wedding Anniversary a couple of weeks ago and I had a little spark of an idea for the card I wanted to make.  When I saw my lovely Buddy's card for her friend's 25th I just knew it was the right idea.  So without further ado here is the card I made for my parents..... 

This photo is one of my favourites of their wedding.  I scanned it from the little album that were given to their parents.  I have my Grandad's album...lucky me!!

 

A close up of the sparkly die cuts.  Can you tell I had great fun making this card?

 

Side view with another photo.  The box base I cut using my Silhouette so that I could have fancy edges.

 

And now one showing the happy Lovebirds cutting their cake.  I am telling you, I have never used so many blingies on one card!!

 

Top view.  I wanted to ensure that the bits looked as good from the front as the back so I adhered another shape to the back. 

I used a few Snippets and had to raid the Christmas Snippets basket as I ran out of the silver.  Luckily I managed to find a few more bits.

This card took me several hours to make and all the time I was giggling as it was so much fun.  My parents loved it and my Dad, ever the engineer kept looking to see how I made it!!

 

I am going to sneak this into the Butterfly Challenge - K is for Knot...well the were tying the knot after all!!

 

I am also going to skip over to the Cuttlemania Challenge as there isn't a square in sight!!

 

Off to the Snippets Playground now to have a play and see if there is any choklit behind the bike shed!!  See you there!!

50 Again!!

Hello There!

I hope you have all had a lovely weekend.  It has been lovely weather here in Wales this weekend and I had a friend visiting on Friday evening and staying the night.  A jolly evening was spent just talking and drinking one or two glasses of vino.  We then went to an Arts and Crafts Show in Caerleon before I dropped her home on Saturday afternoon.  Today has been tending to my Girls, washing while the weather was good and a little crafting.  

I thought I would share a birthday card I made for one of the girls in work recently.  Seems to be a year of Big Birthdays. 

I used my Tonic dies, some Snippets, ribbon, Quickutz dies for the 50, Memory Box butterfly and some pins in the bow. The background paper is VOS. 

I am off down to the Snippets Playground to show the play buddies.  Why not join in?

Happy Birthday to my Buddy!

Hello there

Gosh this last weekend has flown by quickly!  I hope it was a good one for you all.  I went to a workshop yesterday with my Buddy.  Creative Journalling with Rebecca Loncraine.  I will tell you more about that in a later post.

Today I want to share with you the card I made for my Buddy Mandy for her 50th Birthday....

The background was a piece of Crafty Individuals paper, part of a pad I won some time ago.  The doily was made using my new Tonic die set that I fell in love with and could not resist buying when I saw it in my local craft shop.  I used my "crafty" money.  

I also used my Joanna Sheen Ivy die, Tonic petals dies manipulated into flowers, McGill tiny flowers and my Martha Stewart butterfly.  Some pearls and ribbon and a small discreet 50 cut from some silver cardstock using my Quickutz die cutter.

I am entering this into Mrs A's Butterfly Challenge as well as the Snippets Playground, plenty of Snippets used in here.    I am also entering it into the SOS Challenge.

Scrapbook Tuesday - T is for T'Church!

Hello there Friends

It is Tuesday (still) and I have a Scrapbook Layout with a cup of tea to join in with Elizabeth over at T for Tuesday!  Today I am sharing a cup of Glengettie tea in one of my favourite Sophie Allport Chicken mugs!

So here goes....

 

The photograph is of our local Church, St Peter's cloaked in snow.  This is the Church that Mr Hettie and I were married a lot of years ago!    We are stood near to where Mr Hettie's Dad is buried.  Just look at that sky.  Such a beautiful shade of blue. 

Here is a close up of my mug.  I have three different ones.  Mr Hettie has the Bee mugs. 

Down to the layout.  I used Kaisercraft, Graphic 45, MME papers along with some of my favourites....Snippets!  Stamps used were a freebie from Craft Stamper many moons ago, pencils which came from Kim but not sure what make they are, Tim Holtz,

Dies used are Tim Holtz, Sizzix, Memory Box, Spellbinders, Quickutz and Cricut.  The music was a Snippet of cream cardstock which I die cut then coloured with Bronze Distress Stains.

I stamped "Tempus Fugit" on the pink cardstock as time certainly does fly.

A Sizzix cut and layered with TH Doily, leaves and Spellbinders snowflakes.  The pencils were stamped and then Perfect Pearls applied over the top.  Not particularly standing out, but that is what I wanted.

I just love this little TH trinket, and it goes so well with the railings.

Vietnam Part 7 - Final Post...

I haven't been around for a few days since I have had a few visitors - Mr Chestin Fection and Mr Sinus Fection and they brought along their friend Mr Vertigo!  Boy has this been a few rough days.  I am not sure how long I can stay on my puter as I am having trouble focusing (or staying awake) for very long.  It started late Saturday afternoon and I haven't been in my Craft Room since.  Boo Hoo!

I missed my T on Tuesday yesterday too.  The layout I wanted to share is waiting to be photographed having finished it on Friday, but I cannot look down to take the shots, so I thought I would share with you the last few layouts of my Vietnam Album.  It may make us all feel a little warmer for a few moments and we can ignore that thrashing rain and wind that is coming down outside our windows.

Once the ride had finished a little way outside Saigon, we were bussed in to our hotel.  They would not let us cycle in to the main capital due to Mr Elf n Safety!  After I had seen the way they rode in on the outskirts I was quite relieved!

Some of us went to their Blind Institution where some of the blind of Saigon earn money as masseurs.  Let me tell you it was both enjoyable and painful.  After all those miles cycling our legs were pretty muscular and some of us had mild burns on the backs of them, including me.  Then it was Dinner and on to a club where a few got very drunk.  I knew I had to be up early the next morning as I was being taken around Saigon by a friend, Mandy, whom I had arranged to meet up with.  We had 3 hours until we had to be back at the hotel to be taken to the airport.  I did not want a hangover for that time.

The top left picture is of the main market from outside my hotel room.  The card is of the hotel.  The larger picture on the right is of the main Post Office.  It was fabulous.  The Church on the left is their "Notre Dames" and as we were taking photos a newly married couple were having their wedding photos taken and we were asked to be in their photos.  Apparently it is the done thing to have Westerners in your wedding photos, no matter how casual they look!  It had happened earlier on in the trip too.

Top right photo shows you what I mean about the driving in Saigon.  Frenzied and no mercy shown!  Yes we took a ride on rickshaws.  I couldn't believe they could smoke and cycle with us on there.  We also took a ride on mopeds too.  No helmets either!  Scary.

The last page below is a montage of photos.  It seems so long ago now but is still remembered with much fondness.  We did all keep in touch for a little while, but not long after the trip Anne left RNIB and moved, and some got married and moved and it all kinda phizzled out, mores the pity.  I still would do it all again, and the hard work taken to raise £2,601 was well worth it in the end.  As I am nearing another big birthday, I have been asked if I will do something like this again.  Ask me on a day when I am feeling better!

65th Birthday Cards - Snippets

Here we are on Sunday evening wondering where the weekend went.  It all passed in a whooosh!  I hope yours was a good one.  

I thought tonight I would share a couple of cards which I made for one of my Work Buddies, who asked me to make a card for her male friend who was celebrating his 65th birthday just after Christmas.  Ann specifically wanted 65 on there and told me that he was a farmer who loved animals and the countryside.  

Always loving a challenge I set about making two, leaving the 65 easy to add on whichever card Ann chose, by putting some foam pads on but not affixing them.  Here is card one.......

The leaf with 65 on was left off until Ann decided whether she liked this one.

 I used my favourite stamp company Artistic Outpost set Grist Mill with lots of layers, Tonic and Sizzix die cuts, TH wax paper, ribbon, feathers, button and string.  The 65s were cut using Quickutz dies.  As soon as Ann saw this she said she wanted it.

Then she saw this one....

A Penny Black stamp, coloured with Copics, Snippets of paper layered, ribbon and a glittered 65.  Then she was stuck as she wanted both.  So she took both hoping a friend of hers would like it.  Apparently the Birthday Boy loved them both!!

I am entering the first card in the Artistic Outpost Challenge for January as all the images are from their stamps.  I am also entering both cards in the Snippets Playground as they both include Snippets.

Funkie Junkie - 12 Tags of Christmas - Tag 7

Hello there Friends

Isn’t the countdown to Christmas galloping pace now – or is it just me who feels that?  Now that I have finished my cards and posted them I am trying to play catchup with my 12 Tags of Christmas with Linda atFunkie Junkie.  There is still time to join in and Linda has kindly extended the time limit by another fortnight, but I want to finish mine by the finished deadline as I know they will get forgotten about and I want to make all 12 Tags before Christmas. 

So here is Tag 7…..

First I cut a tag using my TH die and embossed it with the Snowflake embossing folder by TH and then inked over the tag with my favourite brown….Gathered Twigs DI.  I cut out 3 tags using some paper left from my Christmas Album and a Quickutz tag die and cut out the letters using Sizzix dies using another Snippet left over from Saturday’s card marathon.  I also used a little more of the same green to cut the bottom layer of the Poinsettia.  The rest of the Poinsettia was cut from some SU Very Vanilla card (now that I have found it!).   The Poinsettia was then stamped using TH text stamp.

I layered the Poinsettia and put a large glob of cosmic shimmer adhesive in the middle and poured micro beads in to the centre. 

Next I cut out snowflakes using Spellbinders die and more of the SU card, inked the edges and layered with the mini tags before popping some linen ribbon on and placing on the tag.  I cut some pine leaves, embossed them with several layers of bronze embossing powder and then whilst they were still hot and molten I poured on some Martha Stewart bronze glitter.  It didn’t stick all over but I kinda like that – a distressed look.  I then layered these with the poinsettia before placing it all on the tag.

I used the TH star rosette die to cut just the star, stamped it with the text stamp and layered it with a chit chat sticker and placed on the top right of the tag.

I felt it needed something at the bottom so I had a rummage in my basket and came across this brown fringing – no idea how long I have had this, then tied some ribbon around it and used the same ribbon on the top of the tag.  The top was finished with some brown ribbon, also out of the basket, a wooden star and some Funkie Junkie string NBUS.

There you have it.  My favourite tag so far of the series and I can see some Christmas cards for next year being made similarly.

Also, I was asked once how my tags remain fairly flat.  I told her that sometimes I use packaging for either Scotts porridge or Bakers dog food, so to prove it, here is the back.  The inside is clean as they put the food inside a plastic bag and they are kinda like kraft and they ink beautifully!

Mini Wedding Album...More Of...

Hello there Friends

Today is Tuesday so as part of my Scrapbook Tuesday I thought I would share some more of my Mini Wedding Album which I am desperately trying to finish so it can be another Done tick on my list!

As you may recall it was our Wedding Anniversary last week and I still struggle to think that our Wedding was sooooo long ago!  Eek!

Oh the joy of the confetti moment when it goes everywhere, including down your underwear!  I am saying nothing more on the subject!  

I love this photo.  This is Rhys my Nephew with my Sister.  We were at his Wedding earlier this year.  That makes me feel even older!  I even dug some of my peel offs on this page!  VOS!

And here are my In-Laws.  I still miss my Father-in-Law greatly.  I used to call him "Pops" as even now I cannot call my MIL by her Christian name.  Hubby feels the same about calling my parents by their Christian names too!

As these are full of Snippets I shall be taking these right down to the Snippets Playground, where we now have Parsnip in charge while Miss is on her "Teacher Training"!!  Yeah Right!

Rudolph Day - can you guess.....

Hello There - Happy Rudolph Day Everyone!!

Can you guess I have two new dies from Memory Box which was given to me by a special friend recently.  You know who you are.  So I just had to have a play with my NBUS...

New Spellbinders dies which I used my Birthday Voucher to buy.....love 'em.  I have used my cards that I am not keen on too!  

No! This isn't a dodgy photo - I have cut it twice, and layered the holly over the top to give it a 3D effect.

This background paper is eons of years old so V VOS!!  This is now the last piece used up.  

Metallic card is not usually my "thing" but I could not resist using it on these cards.   The Merry Christmas sentiments are also VOS - pre this century at least!

I am now up to nearly 40 C Cards in my collection so as there are only three more Rudolph Days before The Day I had better get a shimmy on with my C card making!

Vietnam Scrapbook Album Part 2

Hello Friends

Another weekend and another damp one for us in the UK.  Looks like the weather is back to normal now and aren't the nights drawing in quickly now or is it just me?

Thank you all for your lovely comments on my showing of my Vietnam Album last week.  So today I thought I would give you another instalment with the next four pages.  

We stayed two nights at Hoi An and this really is a beautiful and very old city.  This river ran straight through the middle of it and I got to see lots of dragonflies in the evening light.  Beautiful.

This Japenese Bridge was a wonderful old footbridge (and the odd cyclist) under which lives a dragon who's tail is in Japan.  It is alleged that if the Dragon is happy everything is ok, but if not, Japan gets an earthquake.

There are four monkeys which guard the bridge and the candles are lit all day.

Here we are at 5 am preparing for our first cycle ride of the trip.  We cycled to My Son which is a sacred place full of temples and burial places.  Unfortunately, during the conflict, it was used as a base for the US Army and was left in a pretty sorry state.  However, it still had an air about it of a sacred place and the carvings were spectacular.   "Xin Chao" is what children would shout to us when we passed through towns and villages!  It means "hello"!

One of our group photos which proved tricky at times as we would wander in all directions, but fun anyway.

I apologise for the reflection of the pages in the album, but the pages are pretty tricky to remove due to all the embellishments.
