Scrapbook Tuesday...Tea on Tuesday...T is for CwTch!

Hello there!

We have another bootiful day here in South Wales with temperatures very warm and sticky.  I spent a few hours this morning at the hospital where it was too hot in that waiting room.  Never mind ey!

Today is Tuesday and today I have a scrapbook layout to share with you along with my cuppa.  It is Elizabeth and Bleubeard's Tea on Tuesday today too.  I now have good 'ole Glengettie!  Our local Waitrose hasn't had any for a week or so and I had to revert to some alternative tea but yesterday Hubby managed to snaffle some Glengettie.  Phew!  The last stuff was not good!

It has been a little while since I have shared a scrapbook page mainly as I have been doing some sewing as well as making a journal for our upcoming trip later this year.  I will share that with you just as soon as I finish it.  I decided after spending most of Saturday at my friend's playing with the journal that I could have a change and do a layout...

I just love this photo.  It is my nephew and his wife and their lovely little boy...my first Great-Nephew who was born earlier this year.  The photo was taken by my nephew's other God Mother who is a photographer and when he shared it on Facebook I just couldn't resist downloading it.  

Here is my cup and some close ups of the elements on my page.  The papers are a mix of Kaisercraft (one of my favourites), Cordinations, K&Co and some Snippets.  Snippets being the tag above the photo, the rosette, the tag to the right of the photo and the tag behind the photo.  The creamy piece at the bottom of the photo with the sentiment on is the last of a well used and well loved K&Co pad.  Doubt I will be able to replace that one!

That rosette has been sat in my Tin of Shame for a little while.  I wanted to pick some of the yellow in the paper so I masked the photo with some, a yellow button and the rosette.    The written sentiment was typed and printed on my puter.

I used a mix of Tim Holtz and Hero Arts stamps and Brushed Corduroy DI.  You may just see two small pins in the tag and the buttons are from a mix of pots.  I just rummaged through until I found what I wanted.  The brad is ancient too and I no longer remember where it came from.

That Love is ancient but yet NBUS. 

So there you have it.  I text this layout over to my nephew and got a thumbs up, so I know he approves. Now I am going to link up with Tea on Tuesday and the Snippets Playground.  Feel free to join us with your cuppa or snippets.  Thank you for calling by.

Happy Mother's Day

Hello

What a glorious day we have had here in Sunny Wales.  Quite warm too!

Happy Mother's Day to all Mothers whether you be "mother" to people or the fur and feather kind.  I had some lovely flowers in a jug, a new Boofle and a card from Dobby and the Girls.  Funny, not sure who wrote the card, but the writing looked familiar!  I popped down to see my Mum and Dad today along with my homemade "card".  Not exactly a card but a box.  A match box recycled....

I well and truly hit the Snippets Box to make this.  The large white flowers and the small "peony/roses" were made using Sizzix dies. I don't mind telling you that the roses were a bit of a PITA!  Each petal is cut individually and has to be shaped and attached individually!

I also made one for MIL who just rung me to say thanks.  I had to giggle as she asked why Mr Hettie was going to work so early.  I then reminded her that she ought to put her clock forward!  

The butterflies are K&Co and the little paper flowers with yellow dots are all Hero Arts and are VOS indeed.  I used Tonic dies as well as Signature Dies - Ivy.  Some Snippets of lace, a Papermania stamp, Liquid Pearls and Cordinations card, Tim Holtz Adore ticket and knob for the drawer. 

  

As I mentioned earlier this contains Snippets so I am popping into the Snippets Playground.  The Butterfly Challenge this week is for Yellow so I am fluttering by there too!

Happy Valentines Day!

Happy Valentine's Day to one and all.  

Today I am going to share with you the card I have made for Hubby.  Not exactly slushy mushy but I hope he will like it. I had different plans for Hubby's card but when my lickle order came from The Funkie Junkie last week, I knew I just had to use these Diesel Punk stamps from Artistic Outpost.  (Can someone please tell me how I got from admiring Artistic Outpost stamps to owning six sets in a very short space of time?  Linda at The Funkie Junkie and the AO DT have got a lot to answer for!)

I have used lots of layers with some sanding, stamping, inking, diecutting, waxing, distress stickling, embossing, powder embossing and edge distressing on this card.  The first layer was made from Tim Holtz Cordinations paper under which I placed a stencil and then sanded, moving it around.  I placed a piece of K&Co map paper over the first layer and stamped a TH bunch of tickets stamp and cut them out to place down the side.  I cut a piece of SU Vanilla cardstock and stamped various stamps using DI and on another piece I stamped and cut out the men stamp, inked some Spun Sugar for their faces (they looked too pale otherwise - lots of men wear make up these days!) added some Scattered Straw distress stickles before adhering it over the background with foam pads.  I cut out some photo corners from the Cordinations, again sanding them.

I just love this sentiment, which has been inked and embossed with embossing powder. Underneath the picture I cut a piece of the card from which I made the card base and stamped with the same stamps I used on the background piece, but with Gathered Twigs before attaching some TH filmstrip using some cogs and a charm.  

A little red heart stamped with Barn Door DI and some red distress stickles and then I sprayed the whole card with some Forever Red Perfect Pearls mist.  I even stamped inside the card and used a Lovely Day stamp too!

Happy Birthday to my Big Sister!

It is my Big Sister's Birthday today - not a big birthday for her, nor is my sister particularly large, but being born 7 years before me, she will always be my "Big" Sister!

As you can see I have used my new Paperartsy stamp which I was lucky enough to win over at the Playground.  I absolutely love it!!  On the main part of the card I have used a plethora of Tim Holtz stamps, one an all time favourite and the others from a set I recently got my mitts on.

As is normal for me, I have used Tim Holtz Distress Inks including Gathered Twigs, Aged Mahogany, Crushed Olive and Red Barn.  I spritzed over it with gold glimmer mist, though it is not picked up in the photos.

I made a teeny tiny ticket from a Tim Holtz stamp and adhered it to a SU tag which was stamped.  A Snippet of lace and the piece of TH Cordinations was also from my Snippets boxes.  The cream cardstock is Vanilla by SU.

Pivo O'Clock - Scrapbooking Tuesday

Well would you believe, I was having a tidy up in my room, when I came across a photograph of Hubby on our first Christmas trip to Prague?  Should I put it back in a box, (not with all the other photos of the same trip as it would take too long), but in a box with mixed photos?  Or should I scrapbook it?  Well I think you can guess which option I chose, or you wouldn't be seeing a layout below!!

So I started with a sheet of plain cardstock and I took some acrylic paints and various paintbrushes and even a toothbrush and flicked some black and gold paint over the card.  Leaving this to dry I carried on with the rest of the elements.  The swirly piece is half of a shaped page being used as a template, cut out of Kaisercraft and then mounted on a piece of green co-ordinations cardstock and trimmed to about 1/4-1/8th inch. I then took some Technique Tuesday stamps and stamped with Black Soot DI.

The large rectangular piece was made one evening when I had a video clip of Donna Arkle playing with spray inks and a glass of wine on the go!  I created several sheets of sprayed paper and this is one of them.  I did not have any plain white/cream 12x12 at the time so I followed Donna and used the backs of some papers I did not particularly like! I have mounted this on to more of the green cardstock.   The clock is one of my new stamps which I won on the FB CC101 challenge.  Love those TPC Studios stamps!  The rosette was left over from my Christmas Tree projects.

The layered piece was made using a mixture of EK Success punchouts and Tim Holtz Lace die cuts.  The text was cut using my Cricut (not sure what font but if you want to know I can tell you - though there was chocolate involved!).  

The clock is a Tim Holtz of course!  Die cut using a scrap of chipboard, painted and then waxed with Treasure Gold.  A little TH embellishment and the Remember is another TPC Stamp.  The Ironwork stamps are all Technique Tuesday stamps and the large corners were double stamped with Black Soot DI and bronze Distress Stain . 

The top part of the layered square was stamped with Wendy Vecchi stamp with a mixture of TT and TH stamps.  

Look at those glasses - they look huge now but were all the rage back in 2000!!  Tee Hee!

CC2C - Cordinations Challenge

Hello there Bloggers.  Happy Tuesday to you and I hope the weather is being kinda OK or better, i.e. not raining!

Linda over at Studio L3 has set us the task of turning to page 61 of Vol 2 of Mr Tim Holtz's Compendium of Curiosities where you will find this week's technique, which involves Cordinations papers.  This week the lovely Guys and Gals at Simon Says Stamp are offering a prize of £25 to one lucky participant so it is worth joining in if you can.  Click HERE for details of this week's challenge with Linda.

I have to confess that I only recently ventured into my Cordinations book and actually used any of the papers last week when I made the Christmas Trees.  You see, I like to hoard them until I find the right project for them.  I had the urge to use the Victorian Velvet sheet for this project as I was finally going to use my Destinations papers, which again I have had a while but not used, and there are hints of Victorian Velvet  in the paper.

Right then, enough waffling.  Here is the layout which I have created using the technique on page 61.....

One of our favourite photos of the Eiffel Tower as it shows the sheer awesomeness of the Tower as well as the ingenuity which went into building it all those years ago.  The text was cut out using my latest toy, my Cricut using the font Stone Script.  The centre panel next to the photo has had a mixture of DI and gold wax rubbed over the embossing.  Throughout this layout I have used Victorian Velvet, Walnut Stain and Vintage Photo DIs and all edges were distressed using the TH Distressor and Walnut Stain DI.

I recently came across my tin of stamps which I used to collect as a child (just a couple of years ago!) and so I decided to have a little rummage through the tin as I was sure there would be some French stamps in there.  Sure enough there were and the stamp which is still affixed to the envelope with the frank mark on there is dated 1980! The stamp to the left is actually a Tim Holtz stamp, and the mini map is a Cavallini sticker. The sprockets are TH as well as the film strip. All the brads I used I bashed with my TH hammer.  It is OK, I am old enough to use a hammer unsupervised!  We came back from Paris with somewhere 700 photographs between us!  I love this little heart charm but cannot remember where I bought it!  There had to be a heart on there somewhere as it was our 20th Wedding Anniversary (I was a child bride!).

Unfortunately I have taken these photos under lights and you cannot see the full effect of Perfect Pearls (PP) which despite being one of the messier products to use, is one of my favourites and I like to stamp on paper using DI and then powder the PPs and then mist to wick the ink underneath.  You can also see some PP used on the tag too.  More of that to come in a moment.

Here you can see the stamping direct on to the background and the washi tape and tissue tape I have used.  I only have two washi tapes but I can see I will possibly be buying more at some stage!  There has to be some purple tape available somewhere!

Here you can see the tag which I have removed from behind the photograph.  I got the distressed effect by placing a TH flourish mask on my craft mat, then placing the tag over the top and sanding the card with my sanding block. Loved doing this and cannot believe it has been ages since I last used this technique.  Then I stamped a flourish over the top and dusted with PP.
