Happy Birthday Mum..

Hello there!!

I know I haven't been around too much recently, but with these lovely light evenings I am making the most of them!!  No self respecting weed will be showing their face for a while!!

I thought I should share the card I made for my Mum a few weeks ago...

 

The papers are all left overs from the Graphic 45 pad I used for Leslie's album.  I must get another pad as I like this one so much.

I even dug out some very VERY old birthday stickers.  No idea which century I bought those in!!  Some lace and pearls too.

I just love the little details in this pad...even the stamps were on a strip in the pad.

These little cards were on another sheet.  Just tucked behind the birdie is a strip of a new punch I bought recently. Of course I used a Snippet to make it!

 

I used Gathered Twigs DI to ink throughout .

 

Off to join in the fun and frolic at the Snippet Playground as this car consists entirely of Snippets!

Scrapbooking Tuesday - T on Tuesday - T stands for FirsT FlighT!

Hello there 

Do you know what?  I totally forgot last night that today was Tuesday!!  I know!  Just smile at me sweetly and walk away - I know!

So today is still Tuesday and a day when I share a scrapbooking project and also join in with my friends over at Elizabeth's blog for a cuppa and a look at some nice stuff on T on Tuesday!  

So without further ado, here is today's project and my cuppa....

Now I know I have shared some of this project before some time ago, but there is one distinct difference......it is FINISHED!!  Here is a little side on view with a better view of my cup and the layers on the album....

And here is my cup.  Another Sophie Allerton, not sure if you have seen this before?  Apologies if you have but these are my favourites!

I know Elizabeth will like to know a little of how this album came about and I do hope she approves.  The pages inside are actually made from recycled paper carrier bags in which the lunches for our partners used to arrive - six of them.  I asked the girls on our Reception at work to keep for me (the clean ones anyway) and I snipped off the handles, folded the ends over and fastened the bottoms of them using Laura Denison's "stack the deck" method of attachment.   The covers were rescued from a pile of books that were being thrown out as they were out of date.  The book they were on was very heavy so I saved four in all, one each for Lesley and I to make these books and the other two for weighing down card to which I had glued on covers so that they dry flat!

Rather than give you a blow by blow account of all the pictures and inserts, I have made a collagey thingemyjig for you to look at.  Just blow it up to get a closer look!  I would get the owner's consent before you try blowing up your puter though!

I am not going to bore you with all the details, only to tell you that there are die cuts galore, some which were sent to me, Tim Holtz, stampings, Sizzix, Cottage Crafts, Memory Box, lace, McGall, Stampin Up, Martha Stewart, Bazzill, Papermania, recycled chipboard for the birdcage, bits left over from other projects and Snippets galore.  Tee Hee!  I am skipping over to the Snippets Playground too!

I enjoyed making this book as it does hold some very happy memories of me and the Hubster in the early 90s, including my first ever flight.

Happy 50th Birthday Darling..

Hello there!

Have I mentioned that it was Mr Hettie's 50th Birthday recently?  No? I am sure I have.

Anyways, he wanted a quiet affair, no fuss, just him and me and definitely no party (we are both agreed on that for ANY big birthdays - including mine!)

So here is his card...

See.  No big 50 on there.  Just an Artistic Outpost moose, a sentiment with no name on the stamp, some Kaisercraft pearls and some string.  No fuss!  I think it hit the instruction don't you?

Can you believe the cream cardstock on the front and on the inside is all the same colour?  It is I assure you.

The embossing folder is gorgeous isn't it?  No idea which one as it is one I borrowed from my Buddy.  After I had photographed the inside I decided it looked too plain so added a small 50 in gold, then promptly wrote in it before I took another photo so I am not sharing that now!

Scrapbook Tuesday - T stands for Together....

Gosh it doesn't seem a week since last Tuesday!  I am pretty sure I have not been round all my visitors from last Tuesday's post yet as this last week just flew by so fast!  Hubby and I had some time out together and so I didn't venture near the puter very much!  I apologise now if I haven't and will ensure I catch up over the next few days.

So down to today's offering and as usual I am sharing my cuppa with Elizabeth HERE.....

A layout I did of my Dad, my Sister, my Nephew and our latest family member Dylan. Four generations together.  

Some close ups of my mug of today.  It is my Head Gardener mug. Hubby had an Under Gardener one too but that went a looooong time ago!  I am drinking some Glengettie tea, so this photo was a first thing in the morning brew!

For this layout I used a piece of VOS MME patterned paper which is part of their Washing Line papers.  I found a long snippet of turquoise cardstock and managed to get three rosettes and a partial strip of lace cut out.  In truth it is not quite the full length so I have tucked the gap under the photo!  Shhh!  Don't tell anyone!  The strip of lace is VOS and was the last of a strip of sticky backed lace pieces, but the sticky was not good any more.  The ribbons under the photo are an ensemble from the Snippets drawer which I then doodled round and the Love came from a mixed set of wooden words bought many years ago and only a few have so far been used.

The 4 Generations was cut using my Cricut using a snippet of Bazzill which was then covered with Distress Stickles.  I had one of those scary moments when the Cricut kept saying that the word was too big, so I had to keep altering the size until it would cut!  Phew!

T stands for ..... My Dad Scrapbook Tuesday

Hello there Peeps

OK!  Who stole the big round yellow shiny thing that was in the sky yesterday?  It IS still dry but it is a tad chillier here today.  

So today is Tuesday.  Day 4 of no-rain-since-October-phenomonon!  That means it is time for me to share a layout and a cuppa with my friend Elizabeth and Bleubeard.  

So here goes.....

This photo was taken on Christmas Eve.  Yes it is my Dad!  The cup one of my favourites which portrays a picture of a poster that was around on railways in times gone past.  Hubby bought it for me on one of our trips to York Railway Museum.  It was not the last trip so must be around 7 1/2 years old now.  And no chips!  I cannot bear chips in cups and if I find one the cup has to go!  No sentimentalities about it - out it goes.  If a handle goes I move them upstairs in my craft room for water or brushes, if it is a special one! No chips though!  Got that?  The tea is good ole' Glengettie - a Welsh brew!

This picture below is a better representation of the colours.  The background piece is a VOS sheet of Kaisercraft I bought a while ago and have not used.  Tut Tut!  I just love Nutcrackers.  I had a rummage in my Snippets box as well as the box with my Guernsey album in and found lots of long strips of plain cardstock, as well as the cream piece (second from left) which was left on my desk from the mini ATC album I shared last week.

I stamped the background sheet with two Crafty Individuals stamps and inked around the edge.  I punched the purple/red TH strip with my EK Success punch and sanded it to show the core, likewise I sanded the orange and green strips too.  

The tiny rosettes are VOS from K&Company bought many MANY moons ago and the little stars are off the same sheet too.  The wooden DAD is from a pack bought in The Works a long time ago.  There is something new on here though - the die I cut the star from.  The star paper is a Snippet though, and once attached I stickled around the star using a black stickle.

I added the string on the photo 'cos my Dad always has string in his pocket, as well as some rubber bands.  A star, well, that is my Dad! and a tag with the date on.  The "Full of Joy" is from Cosmo Cricket.

Dobby insisted on standing still (for once) and having his photo taken so he could say "Hi" to my friends and especially Bleubeard!

Scrapbook Tuesday - T is for.....Anticipation

Hello there!  

Is it me or are Tuesdays coming round quicker this year?  Here we are again on a Tuesday and I have another scrapbook page to share with you whilst you have a slurp of your tea.  As usual I am playing along with Elizabeth and Bleubeard for T on Tuesday.

This layout shows my niece and nephew on Christmas Eve at my parent's home.  The colours are not good and the second photo is more like the original.  My sister and I arranged to meet there to have a bit of a get together and pressie swap.  The last fews years one or more of us have been too poorly to go so it was nice to all make it there this year!

Why "Anticipation" you may be asking?  Rhys and his wife were expecting their first child as its anticipated due date was approaching.  Megan.  Well she just likes pressies and wine!  I splashed a little paint and swooshed some on the patterned paper.  Then stamped with a star.

I am sharing some Dorset Tea with you in a Sophie Alport chicken mug.  The tea was brought back by my neighbours in a gorgeous tin with chickens on it.  My neighbour knew I would like the tin!

A close up of some of the elements on my layout.  I used the TH lace die and some Snippets of paper to create a lace effect. The little piece of ribbon was cut for something else a while back so glad to be able to use it rather than lose it.   The date stamp was sent to me by a very dear friend and is a Theresa Collins stamp. 

I cannot believe how long ago I bought these reindeer.  I think they were supposed to be table decorations but I knew they would look good as scrapbook embellishments.  I was trying to pick out the reindeer in Megan's jumper.

I used some old brads and eyelets on the page.  Great to use up old stash isn't it?  The star stamp was a freebie with Craft Stamper.  I cut the title out using my Cricut.

You can see the little word beads I used, again bought many moons ago.  In fact the only new thing is the owl!  It is rare to see Megan without a smile, but being a professional ballet dancer it is no surprise.  Oh to be able to do what you love for a living!

Scrapbooking Tuesday - T on Tuesday

I am unusually late today with my Scrapbooking Tuesday and T for Tuesday post.  But it is still Tuesday so here I am. 

Today's T is for Two Boys - the subject matter for today's layout......

I try to be good and drink lots of water every day and here you see me being a good girl!  My glass is not special.  Just a run of the mill glass from Ikea.  And here you can see my layout of My Two Boys.  Mr Hettie and Dobby acting like a baby!

Do you see what I see?  Sunshine!  Normally I would try to avoid sunshine across my photographs but as we haven't seen much of it around I thought I would share some. I cut around the bottom of the flourish with birdie on the top left corner and tucked a piece of dark brown bazzill and the top of one photo so as not to cut the birdie off. 

The main paper is MME with Bazzill for the plain papers, some of which are Snippets. The Buddies piece is Cosmo Cricket cut from the same piece as the layout I shared last week.  Some Maya twine tied with a MME button (NBUS that I paid a lot for and just hoarded until now!), and a tag cut from TH die and the strip from the edge of the paper aka a Snippet.

The text was cut from TH die and then I went over them with TH Distress Stickles in Antique Linen.

I punched some bunting with my SU punch in tan and dark brown Bazzilll and also added some paper ribbon cut using TH die.  I also did some stamping on the background colour with my TH flourish stamp and Gathered Twigs DI.

Another little strip of the edge strip with a row of hearts cut using an EK Success punch topped with a Love ticket from TH.  I thought I would share my coaster with you.  This is one of the first Honiton lace pieces I made some 18 years or so ago.  The coaster itself now pretty scratched and marked from constant use but Teddy still looks good inside.

Scrapbook Tuesday - Ruby Ruby...

Happy Tuesday to y'all!  I am secretly hoping this is going to be a quick week.  For one last week was sooooo long and this week I have a nice weekend lined up.  More on that later!

As is customary on this here blog, I aim to put up a scrapbooking project of somekind on a Tuesday.  I have to say I am pretty chuffed with myself that half way through September I am still managing to keep it going with only a small number of minor not happenings!  I shall try and run it through for the rest of the year.  However, despite my efforts, my photo piles/albums/boxes/tins have not gone down.

Talking about storage for photos, I have a large tin which holds A LOT of photos in, semi in order too.  You may recall that I recently lost my Aunt unexpectedly.  Well blow me, the week after her funeral I decided that whatever photo/s I put my hand on when I dipped it into the tin, I would scrapbook.  They fell on these piccies I am showing you today.  They were taken at my Aunt and Uncle's 40th Wedding Anniversary some 8/9 years ago.  (Need to check on the date for journalling purposes.)

I bought this Prima paper some 4 years ago and knew that it was perfect for a Ruby Wedding type layout and am so glad I hung onto it for just such an occasion.  So a VOS used again!  Layers of ribbon and lace (lace from Funkie Junkie Boutique and used veeeeery sparingly).  The flowers and flourishes were all made from raiding my Snippets box.  

I see some Bo Bunny Snippets in there as well as various pieces of plain cardstock. I also tried out my new punches from McGills so NBUS in here too.

The lettering was cut with my Cricut and then I used my embossing pen and added two different shades of pearls - one Cosmic Shimmer and the other TH.  You can see the tag which is tucked in the side of the larger photo.  The mounts for the photo have been stamped with TH stamp and embossed with gold.

You remember the cupcake sleeves that were on my desk, from my Nephew's wedding?  I painstakingly cut the butterflies out, edged them with TH DI in Aged Mahogany and manipulated them to shape before adding some ruby blings on.  Only used one so I can repeat this idea again, or maybe use it for a stencil?

Some more detail of the paper, flourish and flowers.  I can see I am going to love this punch set! I have also used my trusty SU flower punch too - my other favourite! st BTW the "cake" is a pyramid of profiteroles!!  Yummy!!

I am taking this over to the Playground as there are lots and I mean LOTS of Snippets included.

I am also taking this over to Mema's Crafts September Challenge which is Ribon/lace and/or flowers I got the lot in this layout!

Honey for the Honeymoon....

Hello There Friends

And a special Helloooo to Debra and welcome to my little blog.  Thank you for following me.

Sorry I have been absent, but things have been a little hectic in the Hettie household of late.  Mum is still in hospital.  Unfortunately during her stay some nasty kind so and so sat between Mum and the next patient, whilst visiting the next patient with a bad case of Flu and has passed it on to Mum, who like me is susceptible to these kinda things and now has a chest infection on top of the kidney infection she went in with.  As you may imagine, this has upset her just a tiny bit!  NOT!  This also means that I am not able to go visit now in case I pick anything up.  Honestly some people ey!!

On top of that I have been visiting our local hospital too, but I shall maybe tell you about that another time!

Right then.  On to today's post.

As you will know from previous posts recently, we have had a family Wedding recently whereby my Nephew got married.  Well, as Bee Keeper of the family we had to give some Honey to the Honeymooners.  However, I could not find a honey jar locally that I liked so I got to do my own jar instead.

I took a standard Kilner jar and decorated it.  Why not?  The papers used are the MME The Sweetest Thing range in 6x6".  Dies used are Memory Box which I bought at Ally Pally.  Let me just tell you, those Bees are little buggers blighters to make!!!

Any excuse to get the alcohol inks out to make a tag for the jar using memory glass and the stamps that came with the papers.  Well, it would have been rude not to buy them too (and the 12x12" papers of course!)

Here is the top of the jar, which I used some Spellbinders dies.

Don't you just love this ribbon?  My Buddy brought that back from USA for me, though I have since found a source fairly locally.

I raided the Snippets Box for some white pieces of cardstock for the Bee wings and also raided my ribbon and fibre basket so I shall take this to the Playground to share around.  Knowing my Nephew the honey is all gone by now.  I know Miss is a little partial to our Honey too so I may be forgiven for missing class this week!!

Can you just say a prayer for our bees right now?  They are not having a good time of late and what with the recent weather  they are really struggling.  

I hope you are having a good weekend so far.  I understand the weather in the UK is great for scrapbooking/quilting/sewing/card making so off you go!

Scrapbook Tuesday - More Mini Wedding Album

Hello Friends

Gosh!  I don't know about you, but Monday evening sure went quick for me.  One minute I was pickling eggs then the next I realised it was time for me to write up my Scrapbook Tuesday post, so I have taken the laptop to bed with my hot chocolate and am writing this in the comfort of my cosy bed!  

As Weddings are high up in my mind at the moment, due to it being my Nephew's Wedding last Saturday, I thought I would share some more photos of my mini Wedding Album with you.  It is quite appropriate really, as my Nephew Rhys features in the first layout I am sharing with you.  Aww Bless!  

My proud big Sister, the tall one, is here also as well as Rhys' twin sister Angharad (the darker haired Bridesmaid at the back).  

I love this photo as it was a bit of a candid one in that we weren't posing.  I think snapshots are sometimes much better than the "official" ones!

This photo is one of my favourite photos of the day.  We were having a chat here and the photographer caught us before asking us to turn to face him!  I was trying to get Simon to give me a kiss!!

It is one of the only photos where you can see the flowers in my headdress.  I love my headdress and at the time I chose this tiaras had started being the in thing so everyone kept trying to push tiaras on me.  I refused to have the one in the shop as it was missing a few beads, and so it had to be ordered!!  It was touch and go as to whether it would arrive in time.  I was a bit techy about having the one from the shop that others had tried on!  The amount it cost I felt I had every right to be!!  It is available if anyone would like to "borrow" it!!

Well, I hope you have had a giggle at my expense!  I shall take it along to the Playground as it includes lots of Snippets, and I know a few of my Playmates do like a giggle!

Scrapbook Tuesday - Wedding Album...Miniature Style

Hello Friends

Is it me or is time going at a fast rate of knots lately?  It does not seem a week since my last Scrapbook Tuesday here in Blogland!

So what am I sharing with you today?  Well.  I am a typical Gemini in that I have several (lots) of projects on the go at any one time!  And one of those projects is a certain Mr and Mrs Hettie's Wedding Albums.  Yes there is an "s" on the end of Album.  You see I am doing two as I was lucky enough to be given my proof albums and we were given lots of photos by guests at our wedding.  Remember those days when we used to print from films?  None of this take photos and leave them on the camera/computer where no-body sees them ever again!

So today I thought I would share with you the mini album for those photos that are not really big enough for 12x12" layouts but are ideal for miniature layouts.  These are all 4x4" layouts......

Yes, this is the cover.  Not decorated yet but with this photo in.  Love this photo as we are not posing but just having a gentle stroll down the Church path.

This is Mr Hettie and a much younger Mrs Hettie with Angharad, our niece.

Mum, my Sister and I preparing for the Day in Mum's bedroom (mine had most of its furniture removed and had Mum's knitting machines in by now!).

Dad and I looking a little relieved that the car finally turned up!  For a while we thought that three of us were going to jump in the photographer's two-seater car as my car was so late!  Now THAT would have been funny!

The album was bought as a kit and some of the papers were included though I cannot recall what make they are.  There have also now been included Snippets of other papers and oodles of techniques, inkiness and bits 'n bobs, so I shall take this to the Playground for the others to have a giggle!!
