What a lovely weekend we seem to have in store weatherwise!  I hope you are all having a good weekend, the last of the UK Olympics.  Haven't they been FANTASTIC!  Not only have Team GB excelled but the whole Olympics has been great!  Don't quite know what I shall do when it is finished.

Talking about winning, have you noticed the new Blinkie on the top right hand side?  How pleased was I yesterday when I found out.  Click HERE if you wish to see the winning piece.  AND as if that wasn't enough I have three more Followers, Jan, Eileen and Ann.  Welcome aboard and thank you for following me.

Now then.  Down to business.   A friend of mine left a message on my blog the other day stating that she wanted to see my Twinchies.  Well, I couldn't leave the gauntlett on the ground now could I?  So I had a little fun.  The theme on the Challenge blog this time round is Bright Colours.  So I put my thinking cap on and decided to use one of the freebie stamps that come with Craft Stamper and picked some of my favourite and brightest Distress Inks (Mustard Seed, Peeled Paint, Barn Door and Dusty Concord).  I stamped the image with Black Soot and embossed the image with clear embossing powder.

Golf Panties... The Swede's wife steps up to the tee and, as she bends over to place her ball, a gust of wind blows her skirt up and reveals her lack of underwear. 'Good God, woman! Why aren't you wearing any skivvies?', Ole demanded. 'Well' she said, 'you don't give me enough housekeeping money to afford any.' The Swede immediately reaches into his pocket and says, 'For the sake of decency, here's a 50. Go and buy yourself some underwear..'

Next, the Irishman's wife bends over to set her ball on the tee.
Her skirt also blows up to show that she, too, is wearing no undies. 'Blessed Virgin Mary, woman! You've no k nic kers. Why not?'   She replies, 'I can't afford any on the money you give me..'

Patrick reaches into his pocket and says, 'For the sake of decency, here's a 20. Go and buy yourself some underwear"!    

Lastly, the Scotsman's wife bends over. The wind also takes her skirt over her head to reveal that she, too, is naked under it.

'Sweet mudder of Jaysus, Aggie!  Where ta friggin hell are yer drawers?'  She too explains, 'You dinna give me enough money ta be able ta affarrd any.'
The Scotsman reaches into his pocket and says, 'Well, fer the love 'o decency, here's a comb.... Tidy yerself up a bit. .................................................

CC2C - Christmas in July

Hello there!

Most of you who follow my blog will know that I take part in the Lovely Linda's Compendium of Curiosities II Challenge, whereby Linda sets a challenge every Friday by asking us to turn to page____ [fill in a number here] of the lovely Tim Holtz's Second Compendium of Curiosities book and make something using that technique.  

Most of you who follow my blog will also know that I LOVE Christmas.   What some of you who follow my blog may not know is that I have an absolute passion for Christmas trees!  I am quite happy to see a Christmas tree with just lights on, and if I go to a town or city at Christmas (especially Prague) I always make a bee line for the Christmas tree.  Which is why I am desperate to go to New York to see the Christmas tree in Times Square.  

So, when I saw Linda's challenge for this week, out of nowhere Christmas trees popped in to my head. I remembered that Mr Holtz had done a posting involving Christmas trees on his blog some time ago so an idea was born....

Linda asked us to turn to page 54 of the Compendium and make a project using Perfect Pearls Mist.  So these trees were made with Cordinations cardstock and then sprayed liberally with Perfect Pearls Mist.

The black tinsel is quite a fine tinsel with little stars in that were adorning some of my Christmas presents from my Buddy Mandy last Christmas!  As they are technically Snippets, I will be entering these into the Playground ready for Christmas!

And just so ya know what I used to make the trunks with, the first one was made using one of these.  No, I didn't break one to make it.  Some time ago when one of these spongey things was past it's best I thought to keep the handle as "it would come in use some day"!  I had to trim it and as I could not find the mitre block I just cut it with a saw on the end of the desk and managed to cut my finger with it!!  Big Owch!  I only had two of these tiny flower pots so I went online at lunchtime today and ordered some so I can make more!  I know they will make great little gifts at Christmas!

I cannot wait until the new Christmas trees from Ranger hit the shops over here.  When I saw what Mario did for the recent CHA show I was all for hopping on a plane and taking them off the display.  Not sure what Hubby would say about having 40-something different coloured trees adoring the house though!

WOYWW 166 - When Fergus met LLJ!

Hello Peeps

Happy WOYWW day!  Today I am taking part in the biggest Blog Hop in the World! Probably!  In case you don't know what that is (where have you been) this is where you take a photo of your desk, floor, settee, kitchen table....put it on your blog and link it up with the lovely Julia.  So without further ado here is my desk.....

In the middle of a project here so you will have to pop back later this week if you want to see the project completed.  And if you look below you can see something hanging of my desk from the Lovely Lunch Lady Jan!

Yes.  A pink desk bag.  No Di - you cannot have it because it is pink!  I do rather like it as it is so posh with the lovely beading.  How did I get it I hear you ask?  Well.  On Saturday Jan and I, after several failed attempts, finally met.  And Fergus came too!

Well, he does like to have his photo taken with famous people.  Tim Holtz, Leandra and Lin of Paperartsy, Hels and now Jan!  Another photo for his special album!  He will be wanting his own blog shortly! 

Can you believe that 10 minutes after this photo was taken (note the WOYWW badge Julia!) we were like a pair of drowned rats having been caught in the most torrential rain.  We had to make a run for cover for a while and every item of clothing I had on was soaked through!  Never mind.  We had just enjoyed a good natter over a coffee which was fun!  Thanks Jan. Ever Resourceful - Scrapbook Layout

It seems like a long time since I did this layout, but it was only last week. Such a lot has happened in the last week.  How many medals are we up to?  Team GB really have pulled all the stops out at this year's Olympics!

I was routing some old photo albums, sorting them and putting them into some storage I have bought recently HERE.  These boxes are great as you can organise them by labelling them and just grab one to take to a crop!  

The reason I have taken to removing my photos from the albums is that some of them are deteriorating, some worse than others.  I saw these three photos and could not resist scrapbooking them rather than put them in the box!

The photos were taken at our old Bungalow, Hobbit's Burrow, which is about 20 miles from where we are now, on a Sunday morning.  The Bungalow was on a new estate and the substation was at the end of the road where we lived and quite often it would have a little fit and we would wake up to find no electricity.  It would take several hours for the electricity company to come and sort the fault out.  Well "Ever Resourceful" we would get our little pot bellied BBQ out and cook a full English breakfast and whilst we were eating that we would put a saucepan of water on the BBQ for a nice cuppa!

The first time we thought about using the BBQ we got a couple of funny looks from the neighbours peeking over the fence.  They were wondering how they could smell bacon when we all were out of electricity!  However, it did not take long before we could smell the burning of charcoal around us!  

The background paper has been stamped using my Stampin Up Blooms stamp and I used the SU Pennants stamps for the little words on the tags.  I actually got round to using my Martha Stewart Round the Edge punches for going around the edges, and I have used all three sizes of the Sizzix Rosette dies. The tags and letters were made using Sizzix dies.  The patterned papers are Kaisercraft.

The little dog here is Sputnik who was always tracking the garden for any unwelcome visitors.  She really hated cats and there were a few around and about.  

Some East of India ribbon and a wooden word taken from a pack I picked up at The Works!

So here you have it.  As there are little snippets used here, I am linking this up with the Playground Teacher, who is on teacher training at the moment!  Is it just me or do teachers have more teacher training days than we did when I were a lass?

Visit to Hay-on-Wye

Hello Peeps

I thought I would share with you some pictures which Hubby and I took of a visit to Hay-on-Wye last Saturday...

Taken from the Castle looking down over the main street.  Love this little town and not too far from my home.  And of course Hay-on-Wye is set among some fantastic scenery too.

This is part of the castle wall.  The colours of the stone really are lovely.

A colourful busker and he actually sounded pretty good.  I could not pass him without taking his photo, and I could not take his photo without popping some money in!

And what a treat for us to see a local family wedding.  The Bride was absolutely beaming in the back of the Landie and the front grill was covered in flowers too, but unfortunately I couldn't get the camera switched on quick enough.  Lovely bunting all around the town too.

Here is another shot of the castle from the road.  A lovely day out nosing around the book stores and the antique shops.  I did buy some antique sewing ephemera which will no doubt find their way onto a scrapbooking layout shortly.

Inspire - New stamp

Hello Peeps

Just a quickie post today to show you a lovely new stamp that my Buddy Kim bought at a recent show in USA and kindly sent to me.  Thanks Kim!  As you can see I LOVE it!  I sent the card to a special friend who is a great inspiration to me!  You know who you are!  She told me she is going to use the front as a bookmark which was a great compliment to me!

The card itself has been in my collection for absolutely years and years and years... you get my drift!

The bud image has been stamped with Archival ink and coloured with Copics on a little snippet of watercolour paper.  The other stamps used are Paperartsy, Tim Holtz and Making Memories using Distress Inks.  

I am going to sneak this into the Playground before the gates are closed!

I hope you have having a great weekend.  I am off out today to meet up with a Blogging Buddy, then to a crop for the afternoon, before hopping home to watch some more Olympics.  With all this standing up for the National Anthem, I am getting some exercise myself!!  I don't think I have heard it played so often as this year.  But I am watching it more as it is sooo addictive!  Way to go Team GB!!
