17 days to Christmas so I hope you have been good Girls and Boys!!

I was at my Friend Lesley's house yesterday for a Play Day and whilst I was there I rustled up another tag for my 12 Tags of Christmas with Linda at The Funkie Junkie blog.  Unfortunately I did not have access to a computer there so had to go from memory.  As usual, I will show you Linda's tag first.....

Here is mine......

I used a tag cut from SU Vanilla cardstock with my TH die.  I inked the background with Vintage Photo DI then stamped my WOW music stamp with Archival Coffee ink.  I stamped a PB stamp on the top corners with VP DI.  

Using my TH dies I cut the Doiley and Reindeer and MB die I cut out the Music die, all from SU Vanilla cardstock. The Rosette was cut out using my TH die and Russett Bazzill cardstock.  

I stamped the Reindeer with TH text stamp and the Dashing Through the Snow stamp, which I cut into individual words, with Archival Coffee. The MB Music die cut was inked with VP DI and then brushed with Rust Perfect pearls.

I could not use the embossing powder resist technique as I could not ruin Lesley's iron (I have an iron specifically for crafting, which is old so no worries if it gets embossing powder on it).  Lesley wanted a "lesson" on how to use Perfect Pearls having recently purchased her first PP, so I used my TH Snowflake stamp and Pearl PP with Perfect Medium.  I hope you can see them twinkling on here.

A little Theresa Collins sticker which I thought was a perfect match colourwise.  The Reindeer was edged with gold Krylon pen.

Some ribbon on the top and distressing and inking to the tag and elements and my tag went together.  And of course, a little Ranger Enamel for the Reindeer's eye so he may see where he is going.

Fortunately the Rosette also ties in with the CC2C Challenge this week which is hosted by  Linda of Studio 3ls fame.  Just turn to page 63 of Mr Tim Holtz's Compendium of Curiosities II book and you will see how they are made.  Can you believe we are now on week 32?!!  No, me neither.

Friday Funny - Glawegian Wedding

Two Glaswegians, Archie and Jimmy, are sitting in the pub discussing Jimmy's

forthcoming wedding.

"Och, it's all goin' pure brilliant," says Jimmy. "Ar've got everythin' organised awready, the fluers, the church, the caurs, the reception, the rings, the minister, even ma stag night".

Archie nods approvingly.

"I've even bought a kilt to be married in!" continues Jimmy.

"A kilt?" exclaims Archie, "That's magic, you'll look pure smart in that.What's the tartan?...."

"Och," says Jimmy, "A'd imagine she'll be in white.”

Tag 4 - A little bit of Country

Brrrrrrr!  My phone this morning says -3 feels like -6!  Yep!  It certainly feels like jumping back into bed cold this morning.  I just wonder how my girls are in their coup!  

Over at The Funkie Junkie Linda's Tag 4 has a little Country feel to it.  So as usual I will show you Linda's tag first.....

Isn't it just divine?  I love how Linda displays her tags and I am trying to find a new way of displaying mine for photographs too, but I have to take the photos in my bay window in the lounge as that is the best place for light.  Let's see ey.

So here is my tag....

I changed the background colour as I wanted to try my new Festive Berries DI out that was screaming to be let out of the cellophane and so I stamped the background with my Wendy Vecchi stamp.  Love it.  So then I had to think which embossing folder I wanted to use and the Christmas Tree kept coming to the forefront as I was going through my embossing folder drawer, so out it came.  I used Cordinations cardstock and then sanded the edges a little and inked a little Vintage Photo for the trunks. I stamped the Crafty Individuals Believe stamp and tore the individual word out, inked the torn edges with Vintage Photo DI, added some Stickles on the dot of the i, and adhered it onto a rosette that happened to be in my Snippets box.

Whilst I was rummaging in my Snippets box I came across the mini reindeer which I had cut when my friend was up some time ago (note to self, get this mini die).  I stamped it with my TH flourish stamp and Festive Berries again and then swooshed some gold perfect pearls on there. I then had an idea to get the Rock Candy Distress Stickles on top, which I did and also the trees.  Unfortunately I am not sure the photo picks this up very well.  A little Snippet of lace at the bottom and a piece of holly cut with my TH Lamp post die and the tiniest Snippet of red SU pleated ribbon on the left.  Instead of using the berries from the die I wanted to add glass beads to give a little more dimension to counterbalance the rosette.

I stamped my TH Post Card stamp with Archival ink then quickly decided to add clear embossing powder to make it stand out a little more.  I distressed the edges using the TH distressing tool, and inked with Vintage Photo DI,  added some Snippets of ribbon and hey presto Tag 4 was complete!

So that is now 5 tags done, just 7 to go.  As I have some play time tomorrow I shall try and maybe do another one or two tags.  I will be very happy once I am over the half way mark!

WOYWW 183 - Busy Busy Busy

Hello Friends

Today is Wednesday...yeah!  That means several things ....half way through the week....nearly the weekend....dancing.....only one working day left this week....oh yes!  It is What's On Your Workdesk Wednesday Day!!  Click HERE or on the button on my side bar to make your way over to to the Hostess of this Wednesday fun and frolics.  Here is my desk.....

Yes it is a little untidy but it is because I am in the middle of a project...two projects in fact.  I am making two books which I need to complete by Saturday.  One is for the Quilting Bran Tub and the other is for my friend Stephanie.  She usually tries to ensure she gets my gift out of the Bran Tub so I have made her one of her own!  The paper lace you see is to go on the pages for decoration.  In the jar to the left of the blue tool pot is my distressed clothes pins (pegs to us in the UK) which I bought from The Funkie Junkie.  Lovely colours of string in there!  You cannot go wrong with a bit of string! 

I promised I would show you the Christmas Album which I was making at The Crop, today.  Here it is....

 The front is not decorated yet.  I leave that until the end!

Unfortunately I cannot get any photos printed at the moment.  Our new printer seems to have run out of ink despite us not using it much!  I have saved the photos so far on a memory stick so I can play catch up on Friday.  Day 3 is a journal page too.  

I thought I would also show you my first three of my (hopefully) 12 Tags of Christmas!  I am having so much fun making these and they are making me think "outside the box".  Still to join in!

Right.  That is enough waffle from me.  Sorry Julia if it is bit of a long post but it is nearly Christmas!

Funkie Junkie Tag 3 - Hey Mr Frosty

On the Third Day of Christmas I will bring to you........

                                                                        .........Tag No. 3 of the Funkie Junkie Challenge......

Sorry I could not resist that!  I am indeed bringing you the Third Tag of the Funkie Junkie Challenge which is being hosted by Linda and sponsored by thefunkiejunkie.com

As usual I will show you Linda's tag first......

Now I have had to think a little laterally on this tag (big word I know) as I do not have the Pewter Distress Stain so I put my finkin' cap on and had a eureka moment!  I placed Picket Fence DS and Chipped Sapphire on my craft mat.  Then I sprinkled some Pewter Perfect Pearls into the mixture and then swooshed my tag made with the TH tag die and SU Vanilla cardstock.  Here is the effect I got which I love and can see me using again!  Whilst the ink was on the craft mat I also swooshed Mr Frosty and the snowflakes through too.

So a little jiggery pokery with the background and Mr Frosty next by stamping TH snowflakes using Ranger Medium and added more Pewter PP.  At the top right of the tag I placed a new mask and swooshed some silver Treasure Gold wax and then buffed it (love this stuff!).  

Mr Frosty and the snowflakes were die cuts that a friend of mine had given to me - Thank You! I cut a flourish out of a Snippet of kraft cardstock and I painted one of the wooden hearts with Liquid Pearls and when dry I adhered a Chit Chat word.  Mr Frosty had a smoosh of Rock Candy Distress Crackle paint.

I then added a little Tissue Tape, Making Memories Embellishment, snowflake charm and sparkles in the heart centres all topped of with some ribbon and fluffy fibres.  

Another chit chat word and some more sparkles on the flourish and now I have finished.

Funkie Junkie Tag 2 - Metal Tag

Hello Friends and Fellow Santa's Helpers!

I am back with another Tag for the Funky Junkie's 12 Tags of Christmas Challenge.  Here is Linda's Tag 2 which is the inspiration for us this time round......

Isn't it fabulous!!  Here is mine....

A bit of a manly and metallic tag this time using metal foil tape as the background and giving it a look of rivets and things.  The metal was inked with Alcoholic inks and then rubbed with wire wool.  You have NO idea how much I dislike the feel of wire wool.  You may recall this is Tim Holtz' technique for his September Tag.

This ticket I printed out a few years ago when my friend was in my craft room....it is her stamp.  I remembered it was in the bottom of my Snippet tin.  The Santa was coloured in using Distress Marker pens and a water brush.  The Snowflakes are from a grungeboard set by Mr Holtz and the gears were cut using grungeboard and a TH die, coloured with Rusty Hinge and Walnut Stain DI and embossed with Rusty Hinge Distress Embossing powder.  The top one was painted with Acrylic dabber paint.

A few little Idealogy gears, some glitter (it is Christmas after all) and some tinsel and hey presto one tag.  I may just use this idea for my Brother's Christmas card!

Christmas Album

Hello Friends

Oh My Goodness!  It is December....the start of the Silly Season and boy is it a cold one!

I promised you I would show you my Christmas Album today and whilst it is still 1st December here it is.....

The front looks a little plain and hessianish at the moment because I keep decorating the front cover as the final job on my Christmas Albums.

Here is inside page 1.....

Open the little string and brad catch and you get this.....

Lots of "pages" to either include photos of the day (the largest page is 6.25 x 4.25 so I can print a 6 x 4 picture to include), or journal, or add labels, quotes etc.  There is also a #8 tag to "play" with. This page 2 and shows a slightly different closure,

In case you are wondering what this is all about, every December (this is the fifth now) I make an album with a page for every day of December whether it be photos or journalling or something else.  I really enjoy making these as they are lovely to look back on later.  If you like I will share some pictures of the previous albums with you.

And here is my photo for today.....

Boofle has now been reunited with his hat and tag, the Advent Candle has been lit and we are watching The Santa Clause movie on TV.
