First Rudolph Day of 2016

Hello there My Friends

Gosh where did January go then? I don't know about you but I have been pretty busy this month with one thing or another and to be quite honest, I am hoping that February and the rest of 2016 will be a bit kinder to me.

So here we are at the end of January and I have two cards to share with you for the Rudolph Day over at my friend Mo's blog.

Here is the first one...

I stamped some Snippets of red card with the bauble stamps and die cut them with my Spellbinders dies.  More Snippets for the Memory Box ribbon and Penny Black sentiment, a little ribbon onto the background MME paper and a card was born.

And just for good measure, I made another card....

Again I used some Snippets including the glitter paper border down the side and the vellum.  The lady was cut a long time ago when I was with my friend, and I will try and use the rest of them.  It needed a little dolling up when I finished, so added some glossy accents and sprinkled MS glitter over.  The vellum was left over from another card which I stamped the Stampenduous border stamp and embossed gold powder.  No idea where the background music paper came from, I found it in my Snippets drawer when I was clearing it out.

Running off to my friend Mo's Rudolph Day and the Snippets Playground with my cards.  See you on the swings with Parsnip.  I need a cwtch with my fluffy friend!!

Friday Funny

BEST  AUSSIE PICK UP LINE EVER:

An Aussie walks into a pub  and takes a seat next to a very attractive  woman...
He gives her a  quick glance then casually looks at his watch for a  moment.

The woman  notices this and asks, 'Is your date running late?'

'No', he  replies,'I just got this state-of the-art watch, and I was  just testing it..'

The intrigued  woman says, 'a state-of-the-art watch?
''What's so  special about it?'

The Aussie  explains, 'It uses alpha waves to talk to me  telepathically.'

The lady says,  'What's it telling you now?'

Well, it  says you're not wearing any knickers.'

The woman  giggles and replies
'Well it must  be broken because I am wearing knickers!'

The Aussie  smiles, taps his watch and says,
'Bloody thing's  an hour fast!'

Tee hee!!  I hope this made you smile as I am off to join Annie with her Friday Smiles.

T on Tuesday

Helloooooooooooo!!!!!!!!

How are you doing my lovely friends!!  As you may sense, I am feeling so much better this morning. Still have pain but it is getting a little easier to cope with and I feel a bit more like my usual self.  Yesterday I had a very very VERY long soak in the bath and it seems to have done me the world of good.

Whilst I was in the bath, my Darling Hubby sneaked in my craft room and put the heaters on and told me to stay in there for an hour to have some "me" time.  I have recently been catching up on some videos that I had saved to watch including one from Leandra of Paperartsy in which she shared how to make backgrounds with paint and brayers.

I don't know about you, but I have a bit of a fear of the old brayer on account of not having much luck with it.  So, I took it by the horns, grabbed some paints and created a background page for a layout.  I don't know whether it was my subconscious or what, but the colours seem to lend itself to adding the photos from the accident, which Hubby took on his mobile phone.  We shall see.  First thing was to let it dry.

So today I have come into my room, plonked my cuppa tea next to it, and thought I would share this page with you and Elizabeth for Tea on Tuesday

Here is a close up of my super cute mug which is pre-marriage and was bought for me by my much older sister.  The tea of choice is Glengettie, which is a Welsh blend of tea...kind of a breakfast tea with a bit more oompf in it!!

Thanks for calling by and reading my ramble.  I especially want to say Thank You to Heather, Maarit and Lesley for becoming my latest followers.  I noticed you have joined me recently, but have been very remiss in not thanking you, so I hope I have made up for this now.

Have a good day everyone!!

Friday Smiles

Hello there

Gosh it has been a whole week since I last posted on here!  Some of you will not know, but Hubby and I had a car accident last week, whereby we were "t-boned" by another car (hit directly on the passenger side).  Unfortunately I was the passenger.  We were both pretty shaken up and the car is an absolute right off.  I had an unceremonious exit from the car through the tail gate as it was feared that I had spinal injuries.  Fortunately I have sustained heavy bruising down my left side (legs, arm, wrist) a very nasty bruise on my right shoulder where Hubby hit me, and extremely painful bruising to my ribs.  I never realised until this week how much my ribs were connected to everything else in my body and would hurt doing anything....I mean ANYthing!!

So as you can imagine I have found it pretty hard to find much to smile about this week!  However, I have come downstairs this morning, having spent most of the night coughing, which is not nice at all to find some beautiful flowers that my Dad has sent me,with a message in there that made me shed a tear.  There was also a small package of a kind gift and card from two very special people.....

I loves ya guys.  You know who you are!!

Off to join in with Annie's Friday Smiles!!

Friday Smiles...

Hello All

As many of you may by now be aware, I recently lost my Mum and yesterday was her funeral.  Whilst we, as a family, are mourning her loss, we have all been taking the time to look at old photographs and talk about Mum, with a lot of funny stories being shared once again.

One such episode was in 2008 on the occasion of my Graduation.  I shared a photo of Mum HERE, which was of Mum donning my mortar board.  Now I should let you know that neither Mum or I like having our photos taken.  But after the Graduation itself my Dad and Hubby walked to the car park to pick their cars up whilst Mum and I sat on a wall and waited for them.   Then Mum asked:-

"What is a selfie?"

"I will show you."

"Ahhhhhh!"

Want to see it?    Course you do...

I discovered my Dad had not seen this photo until I shared my Graduation Album with him.  It is one of his favourite photos now.  Not bad for a photo of two people who hate having their picture taken!!!

This is my Friday Smile and I am sharing this with Annie.

Have a great weekend everyone!!

Hugs

Wedding Card for Dawn and Steve..

Hello There

I have a hard day tomorrow so I thought I would share a little card I made towards the end of last year for a friend of mine who was getting married.  .........

I cut the top layer on my Silhouette before mounting it on the card base.  I had lent some stamps to Dawn for her (or should I say Steve) to stamp some images onto their place cards.  Dawn kindly gave me the stamp pads she used and so I knew the colours of her wedding which was the turquoise colour of the ribbon and background.

I decided the card needed some zing, so I spritzed it with Tattered Angels spray, thought the picture doesn't show the shimmer very well, possibly because it had not fully dried when I took the photo.  I forgot to photograph the inside - doh!!

Dawn and Steve loved the card (phew) and had a wonderful wedding day.

Thanks for calling by.

SU Happy Birthday....

Hello All

Happy New Year to you all!  Wishing you all health, wealth and happiness for 2016.

Before I start, I would just like to thank you all for your kind messages that I have received in response to my last post.   I have had some lovely messages whether it be on my blog, facebook, cards and emails.  Thank you all.

Having had a little time away from my blog, I think it is time I kick 2016 with some new posts.

Here is the first, a card I made for a friend of mine a little while ago....

I used my SU Blossom stamps which were punched with Archival Ink and embossed with clear embossing powder before painting them with Distress Inks and a water brush (Fossilised Amber and Abandoned Coral).

I then mounted this onto a Snippet of yellow before tying a bit of string with a TH die cut tag stamped.  I used the same Archival ink to stamp the sentiment on the card and hey presto! a card was ready to be sent off.

Just going to put my wellies and sou'wester on and splash through the puddles to the Snippets Playground for a hug with Parsnip!!  See you there!!  I have some catching up to do so please bear with me.
